The play so far might now be incredible, but it is very promising.

I'm actually a little glad that Jaedong and Flash lost today. Hopefully it'll spark their competative drive to practice and innovate even more to excel at this new challenge; and we'll end up seeing a new level of gameplay in sc2

I don't watch much SC2.. are most games decided like that in 1 engagement? Pretty boring :/

a lot of them are, but these bw players play a lot more passive than usual, but it depends on the matchup. tvz is almost always pressure non stop, where zvp is timing based and trading armies.

if you watch GSL its a lot more dynamic. watching this is like watching sc2 half a year ago.

I dunno. Half a year ago, I watched DRG and MMA face off on Shakuras in one of the best games in SC2 history :>

The tactical play seems far less mature than the current SC2 pro level but their slick mechanics help them mask that lack of tactical knowledge well. It seems more like the games of early to mid 2011 to me, where little mistakes here and there snowballs into a huge advantage for one player, rather than the games of today where they're more proactive about constantly getting in each others' faces and not allowing them to get an uncontested advantage. SC2 is a faster paced game where a small mistake can be a game ending one. BW pros will need time to adapt to that.

Oh so he should have just waited for brood lords to get out so he could lose huh?

edit: Against what Lizzy was doing, waiting for brood lords would never have worked. The blink stalker, sentry, immortal ball will ALWAYS hit before brood lords are out unless the Zerg hits the third and actually does some damage. PvZ is all about combating the economic capability of Zerg. Taking a fast third is one of the more viable and economical ways of dealing with it. You just need to be wary of an imminent attack because the Zerg is almost always going to be behind if they let the Toss get on three base saturation.
SC:BW has a higher skill ceiling than SC2? SC 64 is where it's at brah.

It was just them not knowing timings and stuff like that that takes more than a couple months to pick up.

He saw the hive timing and punished a low infestor count/wasted infestor energy. What should he have done exactly?

Fantasy decimated him, if you find a complete stomp good then yes, otherwise no.

Today, we saw Jaedong and Flash play SC 2.

The final piece of the puzzle is Stork.

I hope this one-sided SC2 stomp trend doesn't continue for tonight.

To see who is the best skill wise... I'd have to agree. But they are trying to ween the pros into SC2 so they have to put emphasis on that. Will make for some coin flippy ace matches but I guess that's the price to be paid for this type of transition. :/

In GSL you prepare for a specific player. Here you have to prepare.for the match up as a whole - you don't know who you're playing.

Watch MC in MLGs. He plays the same styles as Lizzy, which I think is where Lizzy took his builds from.

MC is a more good macro -> deathball style though. He doesn't play that turtle-y, but doesn't go for small armies with multiprong attacks etc.

Lizzy didn't go for multiprong attacks.

MC's style these days, when he's not two basing, is to immortal expand and then to push out at a decent timing on three bases. He did it vs. Stephano today.

Was referring how he said in the GSL, it was more dynamic and less "decided in 1 engagement".
Wouldn't watch MC if you want multi-prong harassment and constant attacks/aggression.

If only Hwasin and Kal were still there. Sigh. The two reasons STX used to be one of my favorite teams.

The high level of play is not whats going to happen this season. Maybe the games will get better later on but don't expect much. Just enjoy BW players playing sc2
