Parting has placed 7th place in the Round Robin and is eliminated. He will still play in the 2v2 tournament, free on the @drpepper stream!

From MLG's offical twitter.

Because he has better map score than parting and parting just took 7th so even DRG is 6th, he still makes the bracket stage.

But aren't both PartinG and DRG 9-12? and PartinG defeated DRG 2-1.

Yes, but from what I understand in this 3way tie (Heart/Parting/DRG) it's about OVERALL map score (i.e. for DRGs viewpoint [wins vs. heart + wins vs. parting] - [losses vs. heart + losses vs. parting])

they have the same score...

Tie-breakers are decided by looking at:
- match-score between the tied players.
- map-score in the matches between the tied players.
- overall map-score.
(source: Official rules on MLG website)

Between DRG, Heart and Parting, the first criterium was insufficient as they had a cycle: Heart > Parting > DRG > Heart. The second criterium was the decider, DRG-Heart and Parting-DRG ended 2-1, while Heart-Parting ended 3-0. Among the tied players, Parting is 2-4 in mapscore, DRG is 3-3 and Heart is 4-2. The final order of the 3 tied players then becomes: Heart > DRG > Parting, with Parting being eliminated at 7th place overall.

Heart isn't in the tie-breaker, he has a better map score than both of them.

if that is true then the whole system with 3 maps no matter what is SO dumb.

first let them play all maps, then dont count all of them. very fair indeed.

I only said that because all Terran and Zerg seems to do these days is QQ about Protoss. Parting shouldn't have even gone to MLG in reality, he and Startale only care about GSL in the first place so I don't know why he showed up.

I think that's a bit of a ridiculous statement to make to "only care about GSL." You don't think Parting would like to win MLG and prefer winning MLG to losing? Look at what he posted on his twitter this morning....

Oh man, I think MLG trolled DRG by mistake. I see no way he advances over parting with same map score and game score, but parting won h2h. Both are 3-4 and 9-12 in maps.

Yes he is, check cablesc's post on page 78
from MLG rules:

2. Round Robin Ranking (1st-8th) will be determined using each Player’s Record of Matches won and lost. Ties will be broken using the following Tiebreakers in this order: Head to Head Match Winning Percentage (Matches Won vs. Tied Players / Matches Played vs. Tied Players), Head to Head Games Winning Percentage (Games Won vs. Tied Players / Games Played vs. Tied Players), and Round Robin Games Winning Percentage (Round Robin Games Won / Round Robin Games Played). If there is a tie involving more than two Players and one of the Tiebreakers resolves the tie for a Player(s), but leaves at least two Players tied, resolution of the tie that still exists will start over with Head to Head Match Winning Percentage. The higher number will win all Tiebreakers.

Round Robin map score isn't the first tie-breaker. People just got confused because of liquipedia showing the map score so prominently.

If Ganzi loses, heart is out.

Since Ganzi 2-1, parting 2-1, DRG 1-2, heart 1-2 so Ganzi, parting is thru. Then DRG 2-1 heart so DRG thru.

Except that overall map-score only comes *after* this whole thing in this system. Seriously, read the MLG rules on their website. Normal tournaments have overall map-score as one of their top criteria, MLG just does it differently.

If Ganzi win. Parting, DRG, heart all 1-1 but parting has worst map score when only counting games between the 3 since he lost 0-3 to heart.

By only I obviously meant they care about GSL far more than any other tournament, Startale has said it themselves in the past. They didn't even compete in the lastest MLG online qualifier due to GSL training. Sure Parting would like to win but he still isn't going to be giving this event even 75% of his best.
