He did get out played, but that doesn't solve the problem or answer the question. The problem was never a problem, protoss didn't need the phoenix upgrade to fight mutas, they were comfortable using blink stalkers and storm to kill mutas. Hero was VERY good when he used that style (watched his games), I have no idea why he switched to phoenix.

When did he say anything like that? He said the Phoenix upgrade is crap, and in the current metagame, so far it has been.

I feel like that game was so un-HerO-esque... I feel like beyond the 2 VR he played super passive, which is unlike him. I guess Leenock's aggression was too much.

I didn't say anything like that. Having to get a Fleet Beacon and the upgrade just to deal with Mutas is not optimal, the upgrade makes no sense. The old route of blink stalker/high templar is almost always a better option.

You are NOT hurting E-sports

HerO was in those TvP situations make too much vikings to kill the colos but die to the ground army but in PvZ make too much phoenix to kill the mutas but die to the ground army.

omg hero looks so sad T_T

HerO is not going to be getting any good results for a while. There's no way he's not depressed right now.

Not really; he didn't even micro his phoenix well enough to utilise the upgrade. Also it was designed to help against zerg who mass mass mass mutas. Against players who make just a dozen or so then switch out of it you obviously want a much more measured response.
How can anyone predict how many mutas a zerg make? It's really easy to go from pressing M to pressing R, I'm really sad hero lost he looks devastated.

So true, if he played his usual storms he will have no problem. Its so weird why he went phoenixes. Horrible.

I think the upgrade is not made to counter the usual muta style but the muta style where you do a billion spinecrawler and go up to 60-70 mutas and abuse the fact that there are space where you can't be reached by sth else than air units

Stargate openings are all doomed the same way unless there is a major revolution in using them. I think there is a certain french protoss which is on to something in this area though. Nevertheless, PvZ will look lopsided like that when the Zerg isn't sufficiently halted or the Protoss doesn't expand aggressively.

Nony said it right...the pheonix range upgrade is a death trap.

You're making it sound like having 3-4 extra phoenix there would of done anything against hydra/roaches Well sure, he would have lost. My point was that 1) he didn't even use the upgrade to its true potential and 2) the upgrade was not appropriate here since Leenock was not massing mutas. You tried to address my first point whilst ignoring my second but didn't really address either.
