(nasl 1 had the first day of major issues but after the finals it was quickly swept under the rug, MLG's horrible start last year has been forgiven due to their huge efforts last year, even the amazing IPL had a day where they were unable to stream any of their matches at IPL3 on day 1, and blizzcon 2010 was plagued with issues) every time that these streaming issues appear people are very quick to criticize, but does that mean the rest of the efforts should be forgotten? There was an amazing setup for the finals, great production and a quality tournament overall put on. People missed 1 game out of 6, which you can even watch the VOD's of even if you aren't a paying customer as you are able to view the first game for free in a set.
you do seem quite upset about it (after reading your tweets), maybe you should make a thread about it?
every major tournament has had these issues, why should gom be the exception? I understand the frustration as I've frequently had to deal with lag issues because of my good old australian internet.
also the fact that there was 3x the traffic from what they were used to for the finals is fucking amazing, and an occurance like this SHOULD ensure that something like what happened tonight won't happen again.

Chae tweeted they had 3x the number of viewers. Perhaps they could have anticipated it, but still. What would have done better was a pre-show that let people arrive in stages rather than all at once. For example: if you download a game on it's release date, it'll be slow since you join the tonnes of others downloading also. So to combat that games can now be "pre-loaded" where people can get the game earlier but not access it. Similar principle to basically giving the audience "access" before the actual show begins. And I'd love more pre-show to the finals. As it is I wish SC2 finals did what boxing matches do and have "warm up" matches. Could do something like pre-select some Code A Ro24 games to be played here because the last time they did showmatches it was a bit of a farce (though a little amusing). Still. One of my favourite finals was the Super Tournament which was preceded by the LG 3D Cinema tournament finals. That. Was. Awesome. Yeah, was kind of about to mention the LG Cinema 3D event. It was also the event where DongRaeGu showed his amazing skills against sC.
I also missed the pre-show and the first game, because they got flooded with viewers. I must say I was pretty pissed too at first, but the finals really made up for it. The MVP team really has great players and I love their chemistry with each other, which just makes me happy.
And the production was just top notch as always. I LOVED some of the stuff they´ve shown between games. Was quite hilarious, awkward and heart warming (past GSLs).

Only fault by Gom is not predicting the numbers of viewers correctly. Noone would calculate 3x(or more) the normal viewer numbers, because if you prepare for that and in the end you dont get that many viewers, thats basically invested money gone out of the window.
They handled the situation pretty good and were quick in doing so. They had a lot of statistics and videos prepared, very decent production value.
As for the quality of the games , they cant influence that (to those who thought they were bad).

Exactly. They actualled made small miracle to rearrange all their hardware to make it work. Kudos to GOM TV engineers team (I guess mostly to network and OS administrators).

I missed a game because of the issues so I understand people's frustration 100%, however we shouldn't criticise them (not a lot at any rate). They made an awesome finals and they got it back up and running fairly quickly in the grand scheme of things.

I was there for it, but it wasn't a huge pre-show and in itself wouldn't attract a decent percentage of viewers even if it was listed.
Still yeah I sort of forgot they did that, would still like to see a great pre-show that attracts a larger percentage of the audience though as warm up and build up to the event.

Easy Prediction: In the future there will be K-pop concerts as pre-shows... really attracts a lot of live viewers and fits the adjectiv "great" (in terms of large, not good)

Dear GOMTV.net users,
the GSL Season 1 Finals have been an amazing experience! The matches were top-notch, the atmosphere in the stadium was great and Tastosis were on fire! During the finals #GSL and DRG were trending worldwide, showing once again that e-Sports has become a global phenomenon. We at GOMTV would like to thank everyone for watching and spreading the word. We hope all of you had a good time and look forward to Season 2 as much as we do.
The live venue was filled to the last seat, in fact, many fans had to stand because the venue just didn't fit all the people! But not only the live venue, also our online broadcast received a tremendous amount of interest that exceeded our wildest expectations. As many of you noticed, our website temporarily collapsed under the overwhelming amount of traffic caused by our worldwide fans.
We did our best and quickly got the situational under control, but unfortunately a lot of fans were unable to watch the beginning of the broadcast. We would like to sincerely apoligize for any inconvenience this may have caused and promise to work hard to provide a more stable service that is able to withstand any amount of traffic.
As a token of appreciation and a thank you for everyone's support, we are preparing a little something for all ticket holders. More detailed information regarding this will be relased in the near future.
Thanks again everyone for watching GSL Season 1, we're looking forward to seeing you all again in Season 2! Also don't forget that GSTL is currently in its final stages, so be sure to tune in and definitely don't miss our GSTL Grand Finals in Las Vegas together with IPL 4.
Thank you. GOMTV.net

No idea ^^ Sounds exciting though.
Maybe they will give the next Arena of Legends style tournament to people who paid for this season for free?
Though that may be too optimistic.

I don't think it matter who won, they split the prize moneys. Just like mvp and nestea at blizzcon or nestea losira at that one gsl finals.
