I don't know any professional sport where during the course of a match/event players of opposing sides put on what amounts to a comedy show. You wouldn't see KeSPA allow this. You wouldn't see an NFL franchise tolerate this. I probably wouldn't mind as much if this happened in ro32 group stage or something, but come on, this was the finals. I expected a little more composure. You should probably read the article John the Translator wrote on how KeSPA is the Blight of eSports. Bringing KeSPA into the discussion does little to make your points look any better, unfortunately. By "Blight of eSports" do you mean bringing professional gaming to the closest we've been to a culturally accepted level? As in John said KeSPA was terrible and evil and money grubbing and didn't allow expansion of esports outside of Korea due to blackmail and threatened lawsuits. And you trust John to give a perfectly objective view of KeSPA when he works for a company that was basically shit on by them? KeSPA does stupid stuff like all corporations (including GOM! gasp), but you cannot deny the boundaries BW pushed, and KeSPA was a part of that. I actually do trust John, he's a really nice, honest guy. Anyone who shits on John the Translator really needs a hug and a beer.

It was a really good build to mix into a best of 7 and a really good map to do it on cuz you can turtle on three base which is what you need to support carriers. Genius wanted to win. We could all see it in his face. He wasn't trolling. I'd believe you if I saw carriers winning more than 1 out of 50 games. I do that build on the ladder a LOT so i realize how razor thin the timing window for DRG was. He moved in exactly at the right time. That in combination of Genius losing a grip of phoenixes flying over hydras and not scouting the incoming overlords even though he had mass phoenixes. Also, not having the carriers in position to defend the third hurt him really badly as well. At what level?I don't mean that to discredit you, if it's actually being done at a higher level than mid masters, I'd be interested in seeing some replays. I'm mid/low masters. I just started playing SC2 again. http://drop.sc/125348 I do the build a little differently, I skip warpgate and research +1 air attacks instead. Go much lighter on gateway army and pressure with 1 voidray and phoenixes while I try to pump out carriers and upgrades relying on cannon defense. Someone on Reddit captured my sentiments exactly: "Literally the only thing that could break him right then was overlord drops. FFs and his cannons/ramps would have wrecked any type of roach/ling/hydra attempted pressure or all-in. Genius collects an "easy" win if DRG didn't counter perfectly and at an ideal time. With the denied scouting there was no way for DRG to have a Spire, upgrades, and 20 corrupters ready to have a chance vs ~8 carriers through triple stargate. Kudos to Genius on the build and DRG for the well executed counter. Very impressive game imo."

Right, because what we expect from the best players in the world (particularly those named Genius) is to not innovate, and never figure out new ways to use units unexpectedly. And when these best players in the world do happen to find these very surprising strategies, we expect them to use them in on the Ladder or something to make sure they're given away before they really count. Perfect logic. No, perfect logic is believing that one naming himself a "Genius" actually makes them such a thing, Genius had a good run, just like forGG had when he won his OSL, but he was always regarded as "barely code S".Surprising strategies with carriers have proven to be bogus for many reasons, many times, the most resounding one being their build time, ipso facto, you can't surprise anyone in a starcraft game when your strategy takes 15 minutes to unfold.
