Can't believe anyone would get upset by the ceremonies today. Anyone mad about the booth stuff is either butthurt or extremely childish, I can't see any other explanation. They both say that they are really good friends but the only way they have ever treated each other is in a playful taunting sort of way and to act in any other way would just be weird for them. Most people that aren't overly sensitive have a friend just like that I imagine.
Grow up.

they turned the gomtogon into their fucking playground. that's kind of my point, it feels like the whole thing is a joke. So you want them to not enjoy one of the biggest moments in their collective careers to date? They can celebrate without making GSL finals look like amateur hour. It's the opposite, though. They did it for the crowd. If you watched the interview with the MVP coach before the game he said they knew how much the crowd loved the celebrations and ceremonies, so they each prepared a few for when they won.
I don't understand how the ceremonies cheapened the finals at all, honestly. If anything they made me enjoy the games and the series even more.

lol LR thread at its best. Endless complaints about the games, BM, everything. I wonder why some people can't just enjoy it like everyone else...
|
This reminds me when Jon Montgomery won the bobsled gold and decided to chug a pitcher of beer in celebration that he got from a random fan and people were outraged...
You realize that people are playing this game right?

I'm not sure where to start. Do you watch traditionnal sports? Oh boy. Continue, please. If you have a point to make, make it - but lose that condescending tone asap. But if you prefer, I'll clarify - Do I really think they need to make every single little thing sound "the best ever"? No, but I definitely expect them to hype it up, regardless of the reality. I wouldn't expect anything less, and I doubt GOM wouldn't either. Edit - Or hell - they really could have even believed that it was one of the best finals ever as they were caught up in the moment. I certainly genuinely think this is one of the best finals ever. Me too. But it actually is one of the best, because we had a lot of extremely bad ones, the thing is, this finals doesn't hold anything when compared to JJ vs Leenock or MMA vs DRG, in that light, it's barely passable. JJ v Leenock and MMA v DRG finals were no where near as good compared to the Genius v DRG finals actually. Subjectivity is an awesome thing. The quality of strictly the games along is incomparable. Those were some epic TvZ's. Blizzcup is still the best finals in Sc2 history so far. This was still good though. different people value different things in the game. imo these finals were trash compared to jakji vs leenock or mma vs drg, but then i enjoy extremely technical games and not carrier rushes. almost all protoss games are gimicky though, so as far as tht goes drg vs genius was as good as anyone could have hoped for. There were a lot of highly "technical" games played in this series actually. Probably higher than the series you claim to have liked better. The long macro games that everyone claims to love are actually the opposite of highly technical. The gas cancel late +1 on cloud kingdom alone is so fucking technical my mind exploded... but I guess a lot of posters didn't notice/understand. The antiga game was lack luster, but the rest of the finals.. >>>> than jakji leenock for sure. Yes, you are one of the only ones smart enough to use their ears to listen to what the casters thoroughly explained, a true genius, or did you mean to say that you noticed it on your own?Probably not, no one can be that naive.

As much as I think the argument that their BM made the GSL "a joke" is silly and based on subjective view on what is "professional" or what the GSL should be, I did actually feel bad for Genius.
I got the feeling that DRG underestimated how hard it is to be mocked, in booth, when you're trying to concentrate on the biggest moment of your life to date. He didn't actually mean it to be an ass, but I think it hurt Genius' concentration and confidence, etc.
If you watch the VODs, genius seem to me to be a bit visibly frusterated and upset, trying to compose himself.

i thought the "BM" in this final was harmless, it looked like they just enjoyed themselves. and tahts granted that i hugely dislike shit MC and idra do for showmanship (granted i realize its all also a joke) because while it may bring the unwashed masses to SC it also brings SC to the same level as WWE where everyone will take it as a fucking joke.

Genius had this series in his pocket until he made carriers. Go figure..

I am honestly surprised nobody posted nonsense like Zerg OP yet. Instead we're getting complaints about BM? Are you serious?!

Ugh... people are reading that game wrong. That was actually a REALLY GOOD strategy. Carriers with +air attacks which is what Genius was doing snowballs really quickly and become extremely cost efficient. It was a really good build to mix into a best of 7 and a really good map to do it on cuz you can turtle on three base which is what you need to support carriers.
Genius wanted to win. We could all see it in his face. He wasn't trolling.

I don't know any professional sport where during the course of a match/event players of opposing sides put on what amounts to a comedy show. You wouldn't see KeSPA allow this. You wouldn't see an NFL franchise tolerate this. I probably wouldn't mind as much if this happened in ro32 group stage or something, but come on, this was the finals. I expected a little more composure.

Ironically you're only example is an american one...>_>
That aside though, it wasn't really a comedy show. Ceremonies are a thing in starcraft. People also loved celebrations in football before they got banned. In hockey there's tons of shit being thrown around. There are a plethora of examples where this would be fine.

Ad Hominem has arrived! Knew someone would resort to it eventually, I'm done arguing, series was amazingly technical and entertaining, best finals yet! gg :p

You should probably read the article John the Translator wrote on how KeSPA is the Blight of eSports. Bringing KeSPA into the discussion does little to make your points look any better, unfortunately.
