Loses game 4, gets BMed by DRG in the booth. Makes mistakes in game 5, gets BMed again. Genius makes more mistakes than ever. The rest is history.
Mind games victory goes to DRG, and you can hear in Genius' speech what he thinks about that. Maybe building carriers is a bit BM but doesn't warrant mid game booth BMing. Considering how tight rules are ingame about chatting only reserved to pp and gg. In between game unspoken rules were broken by DRG imo. Going into another player's booth during a finals no less should not be considered acceptable. The gap at the top is so small and anything can affect you at the highest level. It really takes the shine of DRG's victory and first GSL. Now I look at him in a different light.
Felt really bad about that. Lost a lot of respect for DRG. You could see how Genius was shaken by that Lol. You seriously are going to use this as excuse Genius lost? And not that DRG played better? Not really an excuse for the loss, but rather disappointed that DRG somehow took this over the top, disrespected his friend quite a bit in my opinion. A thumbs down in his own booth is something else than going into someone elses and dragging his arms up. ... Really? I agree with Xax actually. Friends or not, if I'm one of the sponsors I wouldn't want to see the final competitors trivializing the moment by these sort of antics. If I'm GOM, I wouldn't want them doing it either. Not a HUGE deal either way, but I can see why it would turn some people off. It's such common knowledge in the community that they're friends and there's been so much banter that I would expect nothing less than booth shenanigans. It's not like DRG was hurling slurs and kicking him. It was just harmless fun, two friends just fucking around. If that detracts from the finals for some people, I legitimately find that shocking...>_> Yup, taunting your friend with the end of his career (military service) is harmless fun. Maybe if you play on the ladder for fun Yeah....It is. I don't understand why the starcraft 2 community is so against harmless trash talk. Especially between people who are clearly such good friends, on the same team and spend so much time together....>_>

That's exactly what they should be doing. I'm not sure where to start. Do you watch traditionnal sports? Oh boy. Continue, please. If you have a point to make, make it - but lose that condescending tone asap. But if you prefer, I'll clarify - Do I really think they need to make every single little thing sound "the best ever"? No, but I definitely expect them to hype it up, regardless of the reality. I wouldn't expect anything less, and I doubt GOM wouldn't either. Edit - Or hell - they really could have even believed that it was one of the best finals ever as they were caught up in the moment. I certainly genuinely think this is one of the best finals ever. Me too. But it actually is one of the best, because we had a lot of extremely bad ones, the thing is, this finals doesn't hold anything when compared to JJ vs Leenock or MMA vs DRG, in that light, it's barely passable. JJ v Leenock and MMA v DRG finals were no where near as good compared to the Genius v DRG finals actually. Subjectivity is an awesome thing. The quality of strictly the games along is incomparable. Those were some epic TvZ's. Blizzcup is still the best finals in Sc2 history so far. This was still good though. different people value different things in the game. imo these finals were trash compared to jakji vs leenock or mma vs drg, but then i enjoy extremely technical games and not carrier rushes. almost all protoss games are gimicky though, so as far as tht goes drg vs genius was as good as anyone could have hoped for. There were a lot of highly "technical" games played in this series actually. Probably higher than the series you claim to have liked better. The long macro games that everyone claims to love are actually the opposite of highly technical. Judging by what you are saying ("probably"), you actually didn't watch either of them, did you? This invalidates your entire post, so please, stop doing guess work and go watch them, it's a better use for your time than throwing baseless claims around.

They can do whatever they want, I just enjoy a finals more when it's rivals fighting it out and not friends.
Just my opinion, no need to jump on me.

There are people that like to BM in a friendly manner and people that hates it, doesnt take it seriously, but still dont like it and get disrupted by it. Different people has different nature. If You have some empathy You just don't go to Your friend which just lost and bm him ESPECIALLY when uder heavy stress...i would feel bad if i was Genius too...

The gas cancel late +1 on cloud kingdom alone is so fucking technical my mind exploded... but I guess a lot of posters didn't notice/understand. The antiga game was lack luster, but the rest of the finals.. >>>> than jakji leenock for sure.

First time you have a finals where the two players are best friends, they're going to play around a lot out of game.
Unless you think the thing was rigged to share the money, or some other nonsense, the games themselves were honest and asking the players to pretend to be something they're not off-stage (hated rivals or whatever) would be a joke, not the other way around.

Have you considered that BM-ing their friend allows them to loosen up to play potentially better? Yeah a lot of critical mistakes were made, but being tense in a finals won't really help. You could kinda see in the final 2 games that Genius was a little bit too tense, thus his indecisiveness in both games.

Koreans show emotion and now it's amateur hour.
Every sport has this. Every competition has this. They know each other. I don't know what else there is to say. If this somehow de-legitimatizes this for you I feel like you're flying on some arbitrary high horse condemning nonsense.
