Elfi vs Stephano in the RO 8. Damn, I don't see Elfi winning that. It also seems a shame that, the only remaining top caliber Korean protoss left is Hero, and there is no way they will meet until the final. And I'm rooting for Polt and Puma, but if they where to be eliminated I'll root for the last protoss hope.

Ok, I just looked at his tlpd and he hasn't played great opponents. 9 of those wins are against grubby and no offense to grubby, but he's not close to top tier yet. He also has 2 wins against rotterdam. The 29 wins looks impressive until you look at the opponent list.

Could you show me a comparable win streak against comparable opponents by any other player?

I'm asking because I don't follow SC2 closely enough to know myself, but I've sort of noticed how a lot of people here doesn't acknowledge how incredibly good Stephano is.

he is incredibly good player for foreigner. He can hold his own against korean easily too but he is not on top yet.

I was looking at the bracket. Assuming that Stephano wins against Elfi (elfi could cheese him out but I find it unlikely, Stephano is too solid) we would probaly have a semi final against Puma or Select.
It's going to be hard, apparently Select is in beast mode, and Puma is always a very dangerous player. At least it's not a zvz so I think stephano has a good chance to win, but it's going to be tough.
In the other quarter finals I think Mana can win against Lucky, he is training with Stephano in ZvP it should help.. eventhough it must be more discouraging than anything to train with him ^^.
Polt vs Hero I don't know, it can really go both way. With polt loosing to bling I would give the advantage to hero but I wouldn't bet on this.

Keep hating with the awesome mindset.

He has a 29 winstreak against non-korean opponents?

OH WELL IT MUST MEAN THAT THE KOREANS ARE GOING TO BEAT HIM.

Pretty much. I looked at his zvp on tlpd and on the first page the only players of note on it are MC and Naniwa and he's 0-4 against them.

Here's the deal.

Imagine looking at two different TLPDs. They have played against the same opponents in the same order and at the same times. Both went 0-4 against MC and Naniwa. After that, one of them (let's call him A) went on a very long uninterrupted winning streak, and one of them kept playing scrappy.

Who would you rather pick to win a match versus, say, MC?

You're disregarding evidence, and that's a sin.

Of course it doesn't mean that player A will easily stand up to MC or Naniwa, but his winning streak is evidence toward that he ought to do better than previously.

You're saying that the winning streak is evidence that Korans will beat him, which is false.

Logic, guys.

Most korean zergs would put up a similar streak against the opponents he faced, except they don't get to face those players for 30 games in a row.

Stephano is a good player though. He's just not comparable to top koreans. At home story cup he went 0-6 against mkp, mc and sound.

So... no?

I like - Bischu vs Puma could be pretty interesting as I think he´s way more solid than Titan yesterday. And Puma did not look invincible yesterday - pretty solid but not invincible. Let´s hope for good matches

No, I'm basically saying I don't find the streak impressive, given the level of competition he faced. I don't look strictly at wins. Quality of opponent has to factor in a lot, cause to ignore it is kind of silly.

People seem to forget that opponents of e.g stephano, could become better aswell..or do you think they stay all on the same low level for all the time?
There are so many talents out there and people wonder why some well known players lose to some "unknown"...

Thats like soccer... why lose some top clubs to someone who has never made a quarterfinal in any tourney? they can pull of good play aswell!

Congrats to Stephano on advancing. I think he will beat Elfi too and make it to the semis.
