Now blizzard needs to make other nonmirrors as exciting. Read: negate protoss ball.

I remember Rain cheesed his way to the final

That was insane! And the best thing is, it can only get better. I can't imagine how good 2012 is gonna be. It'll be the year of Starcraft 2.

Awesome set, best starcraft I have ever witnessed

A rush of blood to his head I think. I dont know, he was short on income(even if we ignore those 2 hero tanks) and the army he had wasn't really *that* scary, MMA kinda just fumbled the last battle by clumping his vikings up. I feel MMA would've been able to win easier by getting a bit more units and then cutting DRG off at the 4th. The terrain and slow push into the production was very well executed, had he just kept a 1-2 infestors alive it'd probably have been gg. The problem for MMA was that he was on defensive mode and retreated all of his units back to his natural/main when he saw DRG's army push up. If DRG had decided to target the bottom expansions he would've had a lot of trouble getting those tanks & bio in place without being killed by the infestors (who had a lot of energy) & lings. Basically MMA chose the battleground and DRG fell into that. Did you see all those lings at the end forced into chokes between MMA's production buildings? That's not really what you want to happen when you're doing the infestor/broodlord push since it's so positional. You want to choose where the engagement will happen and make him come to you. DRG attacking the bottom would've forced MMA to either head out and meet it or counter. I just think you are assuming that DRG knew how he would be able to crush the vikings. There was really no indication through the game that a FG would be able to hit even more than 1 viking what then like 10*2. So yeah, if he always could've done so much dmg with FGs guaranteed, it'd have been smarter, but he kind of needed to make something happen, since if MMA had microed his vikings aswell as he had been doing through the game, his BLs wouldn't really be that scary which would've decreased his armies power a lot. So yeah, I think it was the best possible move from DRG. I'm still not convinced. When all of your reinforcements are zerglings, you don't want to attack into a place full of chokes. If he had engaged in a more open terrain, DRG would've taken out MMA's army. Would that have ended the game? Perhaps not, but he would've gained map control to retake his bases and lay siege to MMA's only working expansions. DRG was barely mining. His only chance was the production facilities because he was all-in, taking the time to kill two planetaries would have allowed MMA to just crush his not so good army with reinforcements, + the fungals would not have been that good against not clumped marines (they were clumped cuz of the rax). It was a good decision imo

Perhaps not, but he would've gained map control to retake his bases and lay siege to MMA's only working expansions. From what I remember, MMA had two bases running, and a third CC ready at south. It would have taken too much time to even things for DRG, i. e. MMA would have pushed to victory if DRG had tried to rebuild his economy.

That was unbelivably epic.

So glad that MMA managed to win. I would have been really sad if he ended up loosing especially after he went 3-0 right out the bat.

DRG doesn't pay attention to his minimap for a whole minute, where a drop is in plain sight. Has to cancel his fourth.
MMA takes his third, making for three vs three expansions, sets up a good perimeter defense in the middle, but doesn't tech, expand or continue harassing.
DRG does tech and eventually mows MMA's perimeter defense, then continues attacking with Ultralisks split up into different chokes. Loses them. Then makes all his corruptors into broodlords and moves them into MMA's remaining army with some zerglings. Loses them.
MMA sets up a lesser perimeter defense and starts attempting to snipe hatcheries. He is successful, since DRG is too afraid to keep units or even static defense there, apparently expecting the immobile perimeter defense to somehow move forward; siege tanks on high-ground, missile turrets and all.
Unable to keep his hatcheries up, DRG is forced to make a last attack, once again mowing MMA's perimeter defense and making it to his base, and a choke. Then losing.

I like to consider SC vs Nestea the real finale of the (Inca vs Nestea) Season.

I have vague memories of it all being to the tune of MC being contained in his natural by tank play for a time, then busting.

Let's be honest. Warp Gate tech and Chrono puts all Protoss strategy on the edge of a knife. Either you win by landslide or you lose miserably. All the while the 2 races with more reasonable mechanics have epic games.

Game 1 was Rain all-inning twice and both times failed, Game 2 was Artosis who couldn't get into the game + a 20 kill DT and... yeah, I think that's all I can remember. Or want to remember.
