They did well here but I'm not sure how they'll fare in the big pond. Time to see how well GSL's new format works! PartinG has always been mid-high GM in KR ladder, not sure about Brown though but his play in this Code A season has been really good. I think they can do pretty decent in Code S but we will have to see about that.

Didn't expect Brown to run rampant over Losira's face, it sounds like Losira made some critical micro errors in those losses. But Brown is definitely an excellent Protoss and deserves his Code S spot.

He moved his broodlord in because he lost the unit that could have defended the broodlord and thus he want everything in the toilet to protect it, but apparently, archon toilet still works. That's what's got me confused. Bliz patched the archon toilet so that there is a timer preventing units coming out from attacking and also making them invulnerable. Seems to work OK for banelings, you can't send a mess of banelings in expecting the entire ground army to 'splode when the vortex pops. Why does it still work for archons and is this intended by Blizzard, or was it a fail patch?

The invulnerability prevents them from being one-shotted.

Why does it still work for archons and is this intended by Blizzard, or was it a fail patch? What USED to happen was you would archon toilet and every unit inside it meaning lings marines roaches hydras mutas vikings broodlords ultras whatever unit would be clumped as the vortex ended. All the units would attack but since archons do splash damage by pixel, meaning they fire at a pixel and do splash to all units touching it, the archons would fire when the vortex was 1 pixel released, if you will. Therefore EVERY unit would die instantly if you had enough archons. What happens NOW is that they patched it so units are invulnerable during that vortex release and when they were all in 1 pixel. However, air units like broodlords can remain clumped meaning that archons still splash damage them AND even non air units are still in a very small area meaning the archons splash still has some effect.

I assume upgrades are 0/0 for both players for simplicity. Once voids are charged (which will happen very quickly in a corrupter/void ray battle), they will do 23.3 dps to a corrupter, whilst the corruptors do 7.4 dps, which we bump up to 8.9 dps assuming the voids are corrupted. So already you see there is a huge difference. Now consider that voids have more health than corrupters, so one corrupter takes about 28.1 seconds to kill a void, whilst a charged void takes about 8.6 seconds to kill a corruptor. That is, void rays take our corruptors about 3.3 times faster than corruptors take our void rays, so you'll need AT LEAST 4 times the number of voids in corruptors to make it even. (You need a lot more since quickly the voids will start killing off corruptors and the DPS of the corruptor army will go down, whilst the first void rays will take longer to fall. Testing in map editor would really be needed to work out the exact numbers.) Now think that in terms of supply, a void ray is only 1.5 the worth of a corruptor. So if the opponent has any decent number of voids they will completely rape the corruptor army unless you have an absurd (and useless) amount of corrupters. Point is corruptors are terrible. It's a pity that the only other zerg anti-air option (hydras) are even more terrible. I think Fungal is pretty good Anti-air ![]() Voidray switches are just really expensive and you can get "outswarmed" by corrupters. I still agree that zerg aa is kinda meh though but the problem is the nature of zerg. If zerg had a really good aa unit airplay would be useless against zerg since they could mass produce good aa instantly. The corruptor is bad but you can produce 10 at a time if you see air. Fungal is pretty weak as a stand-alone AA, especially in these late-game deathball vs deathball engagements. Trying to get close enough to Fungal a ball of Void Rays will get your Infestors instantly incinerated by even a handful of Colossi. Really the only mistake LosirA made in that game was dumping his entire army into the vortex. I'm not sure what exactly he was thinking unless he's just never been in that situation, because delay or no delay, your army is going to get raped coming out of that vortex. With the number of Corruptor/Broodlord he had, and the complete lack of Void Rays from Brown, he would have been fine if he had just waited out the vortex.
