Oh, how I wish he decided to go train in Korea for a few months and show that (whether?) he can actually kick ass just as much as top Koreans.
I think its jelousy mostly. Everyone say you need korean training to become the best but somehow Stephano is a freak and just destroys koreans and the best foreigner all the time. So its a slap in the face to many.
He clearly is very special
No it's just that he is gimmicky and ridiculously overhyped. People don't like that. I mean, people like you saying he destroys koreans and the best foreigners all the time? That's just a fanboyish lie. It hasn't happened, no matter how much you wish it.
Lol overhyped? He won IPL 3 and now ESWC world cup allmost 60k dollars in 2 weeks. Been a pro player for a month and he is overhyped?
Take an old great zerg like Idra he havent won 2 major online tournaments have he?
Overhyped lol gtfo
To be fair, Idra won an IEM, MLG and IPL. Not Premier tournaments but definitly major ones.

Yeah, he never ended up winning against Boxer, MMA, MKP, Lucky, TheSTC, Inori, viOlet.
Not mentionning suckers like HuK, DIMAGA, Thorzain, Sen, Nerchio, White-ra.
He just ended up winning using gimmicky tactics and obviously, cheating like at the ESWC.

You cant even compare that to Stephanos 2 major lan wins wtf lol

I think in general you are right, but: When did he beat DIMAGA?

But, actually , i am not sure heard this caster is an advantage, they are pretty bad, casting at copper level, too much mistake , some people love them just for the show... if he could hear, he probably lost this tournament :D
It's not about the quality of casting. If you can hear the crowd for example, that might give out signs of something important happening.
And the main point is the principle, if those headphones and whatnot was enough, then fine. But if not, why the hell a tournament like ESWC can't set up a booths/whitenoise machines and whatnot, and be absolutely sure that they can't hear anything.

I'm a bit confused. Varied can't be "gimmicky", can it?
On October 24 2011 01:55 TotalBiscuit wrote: Do you honestly think if anyone could have heard a damn thing on the stage, the players who played on that stage would not have said something? As someone very accurately pointed out, the French Casters screamed Baneling Nest! in English at the top of their lungs, the crowd went nuts and MaNa still didn't have a clue and was completely unprepared for it. The Warp Prism drop on the Lair is another example that clearly shows there was no cheating going on.
These setups are extremely common, industrial noise-protection headsets combined with in-ears are about the most effective protection you can get. Booths do not add a lot to that. There is no magical material you can use to completely block sound with a booth. They help, but they are actually the least important component of that setup.
Best response on this thead. You have someone who took part of one the larger tournament the Dreamhack and who know his stuff and tells you you're wrong talking about some kind of cheating and you stilll continue whith your shitty arguments. Grow a bit pls
After saying : -zerg is imba -stephano can watch the screen while playing -he can understand clearly what cstaers are saying -Stephano didn't achieve anything
Now its

LOL, With his 56.000$ prized earned in one month, I think Stephano doesn't give a damn shit about how good he is. Its just : How I will spent my moneyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

e. i know there has been talk about it. Just can't understand this at all.
Well, I guess he wasn't wearing those industrial noise cancelling headphones with ear buds!
If thats the case, are you _SURE_ the players couldn't hear the crowd/casters?
Literally the only way to be "_SURE_" is to play on stage. If there are complaints by the players this is a valid complaint and ESWC should improve on that, but right now it is just some angry nerds trying to discredit a player.
Sad Grubby couldn't win (harharhar), but it looks like he made a pretty damn good showing, especially for someone who started the game so late. Hope he makes it to the top eventually!
Stephano once again showing that he's the hottest Zerg in the foreigner's scene at the moment, if not the world. Wasn't able to catch the games as I fell asleep, but the results speak for themselves. You don't win tournaments with line-ups as stacked as IPL 3 and ESWC without having something special.

LOL at this post. What is like exactly gimmicky about him (idra said it on state of the game also)? He is one of the only zerg players who can play several styles, in ZvT mainly. He can do ling/bling/muta, roach/infestor/ling, ling/infestor /ultra. He also plays a pretty solid ZvP relying mostly on his superior macro there, and he sometimes switches it up with early agression( 2 base baneling bust). Also no way a gimmicky player can maintain a 80% win/lose on grandmaster league without more than a solid understanding of the game. I guess most people hate on him because of the col/millenium ordeal.
Also funny thing is besides Huk, no single foreigner that trains in korea has won anything big recently.

The games would be casted in english so both players would have equal chances...
Naniwa did it for his game vs Tarson in Battlenet EU Invitational. Polish stream was switched with english one to play for the audience.
I can bet than more of 60% of the crowd would be unable to understand the commentary if it was in english... it's an event in France, a lot of French (especially gamers) suck at english, French is the official language in France and the majority of the crowd is French, there is no reason to not cast in french. France is not sweden, we suck at english.
Well why whould they have a thing called world championship in a place were they dont know the most common language in "lé" world.
But tbh, if anyone could hear them they most likely whould've complain. It's alot of money we are talking about. But if they did complain and they didn't do anything about it whould be a damn shame.
I could probably search this up, but why does only a few countries in europe learn english? Is it because we know the importance of beeing able to communicate with other people than just ourself. Or is it because we aren't as proud as the french and the germans for instance? :S

Oh well, now that i read TB's comment, maybe it wasn't as bad as it looks.
I'm amazed at his level of performance. He seems to be able to take out some of the best Koreans quite consistently. He's probably the best foreigner right now in my opinion.

I think he's tied with HuK for that, with IdrA, Mana, and Sen not far behind.
