if alicia whens his next match, he will have to play ToD again and alicia would be down 0-2 at start (best of 7)

The DT's aren't free -- you trade 125/125 to make your opponent lose 270 minerals, which isn't exactly a favorable trade for Protoss. If you can get a marine kill on the way then maybe that tilts the balance into your favor, but you still had to build that expensive Dark Shrine in the first place, so it's probably still not worth it. DT's are only cost effective if you get free kills with them.

Except your analysis ignores all of the turrets your opponent has to put up after he sees those DTs and all of the map control you gain from the DTs

All one turret.

Um no, one turret does not prevent DTs because they can slip in past the turret and hit the other mineral lines that do not have turrets unless the terran parks a large part of their army right at the ramp with the one turret, which gives the map control to the protoss

Because it wasn't a DT expand.

It kindof was lol

Choya didn't need much of an army b/c he scouted gasless expand. If Jinro would have thrown down 3 more barracks and pulled all scv's then it would have been a successful mindgame cheese. So all Choya's build was was a greedy expand into harrass b/c he took a good guess what Jinro was doing.

The point is that Jinro could have had Turrets up in time with his build, which makes choya's choice all in and cheese (because he had no way of knowing whether Jinro will be safe or not).

It's not. Even if they do no damage, the DTs turn into archons which become the core of your army.

He had one Gateway, one Stalker and 3 DTs iirc, Archons or no Archons there's just not enough production behind it to make it safe. If DTs did no damage (and Jinro actually saw them, which you'd expect from a progamer), closing that game would be fairly trivial for Jinro.

Again, I'd love to see anyone who thinks this build was a "DT expand" show me a high level replay (or preferably several) where a DT expand looks even slightly similar to what choya did and it transitions into a normal midgame.

Yeah, cause Jinro can end the game after a 1 Rax expand, while DTs are hitting his army and Jinro has only 2 scans max, and has to watch out for DT backstabs going back into his base.
edit- if you think with detection that winning the game is easy, I suggest you watch some GSL. Korean toss do this build all the time.

Cloaked banshees are nowhere comparable to DTs.
DTs have unlimited cloak, banshees do not.
DTs start with cloak, banshees need them researched.
DTs kill workers in one shot, banshees in two.
DTs are produced by the very beginning production building, making higher number production [like 3 at once to split everywhere] far easier than starport production of banshees.

I'm not saying anything about overall game balance, but it's just absurd to put banshees on the same level.

Cloaked banshees are nowhere comparable to DTs.
DTs cannot fly over supply depot walls, banshees can.
DTs cannot float in the empty space in back of your mineral line, banshees can.
DTs can be revealed by Command Center, banshees cannot be revealed by Nexus.
DTs can be hit by melee units, banshees cannot.

I'm not saying anything about overall game balance, but its just absurd to put banshees on the same level.

ugh they both have their pros n cons we get it.

Damn, warping in 3 DTs at once with one gateway. That takes serious skills!

Jinro would have had to wait for about 4-6 scans before moving out and by that time Choyas are would have been way bigger. How is it trivial for Jinro to finish the game? He has to trek across the map with invisible units spread out slowing him down the whole way with the only detection he has is scans.

I find it pathetic that people have preconceived notions of how things should be and how units can be used.

Cant understand the hate on Choya, this is what makes DRG look beastly, He saw the DTs coming from Huk through the fog by his game-sense and scouting skill.

Punished for being to greedy, i dont why Terrans blow all the CC energy on mules so early when they are vulnerable to DT rush

Terran needs MULES early game. If a Terran player isn't MULing properly and a good Gateway Timing push comes, they'll lose the game. You can say that Jinro lost because he was greedy or didn't scout enough, but what it comes down to is that Dark Templar are the stupidest thing in the game. They give free wins to Protoss players who don't deserve them, such as Choya over Jinro. Or how about Puzzle beating MMA. Puzzle would have lost first round were it not for the stupidity of a unit that instantly wins you the game (anybody who didn't watch those, basically Puzzle DT rushed two games in a row, MMA forgot Missile Turrets, and later in the game despite MMA microing far better and outplaying Puzzle, he was too far behind.

Basic recap of those games:
Game 1: Jinro plays far better than Choya and wins with great play and NUKES!!!
Game 2: Choya abuses Metalopolis and wins because of a map imbalance and cheesy play.
Game 3: Dark Templar.

Only one of those games is worth watching, I bet you can all guess which one it is.

wait what ... you are saying that it's the DTs fault that MMA forgot missile turrets?
There are a ton of things in this game that can make you lose outright if you aren't prepared for it. That's why you scout. Sometimes you take risks and it pays off, sometimes it doesn't. But you can't complain that taking risks (like not scouting the opponents tech path & not preparing for the eventualities) is actually, you know... risky.

Game 1: Jinro didn't play that well tbh. He did nice drops, but his m&m control was quite bad tbh. He landed double nukes which won him the game. That however was both bad and strange by Choya. G2 he didn't get abused as much as he did bad decisions. Walling off his ramp = bad, finishing cloak = bad, Losing viking = bad... And so forth.

Game 3: He was greedy, Choya got lucky and he won. I wouldn't say that Jinro played that much better than Choya, if at all.

You're crazy if you think Jinro didn't play well in Game 1. His micro wasn't spot on, but it was also a ridiculously long game. He completely outplayed Choya in that game. Jinro's real weakness is his early game, but a cheesy player like Choya would never be able to win a macro game against Jinro.

And Game 2 Jinro made a few mistakes, but Choya's micro wasn't super good. He got some lucky pick ups, but the real reason why it was so effective is that that build on Metalopolis is broken. It's stupidly powerful and anyone who disagrees obviously hasn't played against it.

Also regarding the difference between DTs and Banshees, detection for Terran requires you to get a Techlab Starport, which is not that common due to the fact that reactors are far more efficient and basically early game you never get one unless it's a very specific blind build. For Protoss Robo should be a part of every build, and if you don't have one when Cloaked banshees push, it's probably because you either : A). are playing super greedy (super early Nexus) or B). You're 4 Gating. And as far as Jinro goes, he needs to use all his MULES because otherwise there's no way to keep up with Chronoboost.

It's just stupid that if you forget a missile turret at the start you lose, no questions asked. If a Banshee flies into a Protoss base and cloaks no Protoss is going to immediately leave the game, because Banshees will never completely kill a Protoss like DTs will.
