I have never made the argument that people shouldn't watch it. I personally just don't care for it since using a handcontroller just isn't as good as a keyboard + mouse.
This is the same logic that says Brood War is better than SC2 though. Just because a game is more difficult mechanically does not mean it is a better game. I could argue that playing with a handicap (less pointer speed) is more difficult than playing without a handicap (unlimited speed) as you have to accomodate the restriction.
I'm personally having a ton of fun learning all about compeitive FPS.

You can't even compare the skillcap between quake and Halo.
Simply moving like these guys will require you months of training. And you still haven't shot a single frag, calculated powerups...
People have been training on the Quake 3 movement code for more than 11 years. It is just beautiful to watch in my opinion.

Is the typical game mode 1v1? Or if I played it and joined a game would it be 4v4 or what is the standard gameplay mode?

what are they refering to when they say "stack"?

They tried matchmaking PC and Console together in Halo 3 and had to revert it because it failed horribly. Why? Because all the console players were getting beaten constantly and complained. That is the only evidence to my knowledge of a case were they were allowed to play against each other and that was the result. Everything else you guys are arguing is just theory. that would be difficult when halo 3 was never on pc, look it may take more skill on pc- no it does take more skill, but it doesnt change the fact that people enjoy halo. You can say that baseball takes no skill, but people still watch it and it is a sport. I dont understand why console vs pc matters.

health & armor totals
max stack is 200 health / 200 armor

"stack" is referencing how much armor and health you currently have. The more you have the more you are "stacked".

There are different modes, you can choose which type of server you join - duel, ffa, team deathmatch, capture the flag etc.

Their health/armor, a good 'stack' is high health/armor.

The "stack" is the amount of HP/Armor of a player They can also call it with the numbers directly sometimes, like 200/200 (max stack, you say that the player is "maxed").

Sort of. It would be the same logic if you played SC2 with a Wii controller.

so much love for QL right now, amazing. I wish MLG would start running online qualifiers for the game.

I prefer BW too but I don't believe that it is better because it is more mechanically difficult. I believe it is better because of spider mines and siege tanks and the sound zerglings make when they die. ^^
disclaimer: intended to be lighthearted, I am not declaring BW as teh pawnzors and starting a flamewar or something.

I was proven wrong? I didn't see any proof. And here I thought the *fact* that console FPS was technologically & physically limited by its control scheme made it inherently less skill-full...
You cant say what you stated is a fact anymore than i could say the reverse is. You have an opinion that one takes more skill and other people disagree giving there own evidence. In a purely opnion based argument there is no way you can be eitehr right or wrong. I could say PC shooters take far less skill then console shooters and you could not proove me wrong.

Sorry typo, I meant Halo 2.
You can read an article about it here, there are more out there as well: http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/710/710522p1.html
It is pretty clear they felt from testing it would be unfair to the Halo 2 console players to pit them against PC players.
