We will be moderating harshly in this thread. Think twice before you post. Things we are watching for: image macros, balance whining, "eagles", player bashing etc. We encourage civil and reasoned critique of our moderation - please post it in the website feedback forum.

Please don't complain about MLG stream quality or MLG itself. They work very hard to provide you with an enjoyable service.

Enough with the racism discussions, this is a LR Thread. Cut it out.

Double elimination is great. It takes out some of the luck of the draw from tournaments. (Like Bomber and Nestea playing the Ro32 of the Super Tournament).

Yes, well that's a different matter (I was responding to the guy saying LB shouldn't even exist).

Extended series is there so that if the player at a disadvaNTAGE IS BETTer than he should win easily anyways. Take MC and idra for example..

Even though extended series is "fair" to some extent, I think that it's a terrible rule.
It really cuts down the excitement of a rematch later in the tournament.
Also, the fact that the finals/semifinals are only a Bo3 is a problem as well in my opinion.

I just wanted to congratulate MLG Columbus on having the best event in recent memory- it was the same kind of good as the GSTLs for me.

Blizzard- get us some LAN, please!

American internet providers, boost that infrastructure!

Koreans-thanks for coming over and showing us some incredible play. You don't just implement strategies, you inflict them.

Props.

And thanks to TL for all the youtube support and interviews. Hotbid- you are the man!

ok I am so sorry if this has been asked a million times, but what's the best way to get these vods to work? I can see the list in the player, but I can't seek through the times, which makes it hard to find the games.. I dunno.. looks like a lot of cool games though.

It's easier to appreciate the Korean players when watching replays instead of vods. I've watched a few and the Korean player is usually at around 250 apm while the foreigner is at 170. You could sometimes see the screen fly back and forth between areas while a fight is going on. Not Jaedong-esque apm, but still enough that you could say the Koreans are going to win standard games most of the time. They were also floating less minerals and gas more often than not.

I really think APM is hugely overrated. All the top pros spam. Some more than others. Watch replays of merz, that guy constantly spams 400 APM and gets his hand handed to him by SjoW with his 80 APM all the time.

But (!) the Koreans are much better at multi tasking and macro. You can see MMA macro right when the banelings roll in during his big battle. I've never seen a foreigner do something like that. He really is correct when he says the difference is that Koreans view gaming as their job and that's why they are so good. They live in progaming houses and know how to train from their BW days.

It's quite sad, but with the way the foreigner scene is developping at the moment, they will never be able to out-perform the Korean scene. They might be able to throw more money at the game, but unless something drastic changes: 'Koreans own white dudes'

I feel like Thorzane, Naniwa and Idra are the only players who really looked capable of taking out the koreans. Thorzane vs MC was really close, Idra looked solid in his first 2 games vs MC and his first game against MMA. Naniwa looked ok vs losira and mc too imo.

Naniwa vs Losira wasn't close. Losira outplayed him completely, even on Testbug, a map he'd never played before.

Thorzain vs MC was overall 4-2 to MC, Thorzain played well but TvP is his best match by far and it's definitely MC's worst, but MC still won.

Idra was great in the 2-0 but MC had done zero preperation being told only a day before he was going and was probably pretty jag lagged. I don't want to make massive excuses but you can see why MC wasn't 100% in this game, and he later beat Idra 4-0 with a proper days rest and time to adjust to the time zones.

Sjow played a very even series vs MMA. MMA won 2-1 but every game was close. Without the extended series, Thorzain would have beaten MC 2-1 in the loser bracket. Thorzain didn't get the chance to play July or Moon and Naniwa didn't get the chance to play MMA so we can't be sure how that would have ended. The three Koreans played better than anyone else this weekend but I think the top foreigners can compete with them.

To be honest, MC wouldn't even have HAD to play Thorzain again if it wasn't for that stupid loser's bracket stuff. Worst idea ever. I don't get why you reward someone for losing and giving them a second chance.

Thorzain wasn't rewarded for losing and given a second chance. He lost to MC in the group stage. And he got there by being undefeated through the entire open brackets unlike MC who got there by being famous... You really are ignorant.

On the korean > foreigner issue we will see at dreamhack because better foreigners and better koreans are going. If they own it up like they did at MLG then I will agree.

It's quite unfair for the KRs, only MC and MKP are top KR players. Meanwhile you have the best of the best from NA and EU, naama whitera idra kas nani dimaga _strelok_ happy dimaga thorzain hasu and sjow. The _only_ well-performing foreigner that is missing is Nerchio and he's still pretty unknown.

On the other hand there's a vast amount of the best KRs missing, like mvp mma alicia polt top sc _bomber_ losira and ganzi. If you assemble an all-stars team from both teams, there's absolutely no doubt in my mind that the KRs would win.

Regardless from that I predict that MC will be top2 and MKP top 4. I really don't agree with inviting inca anypro FD and nada, the first 2 aren't good and the second 2 don't practice enough to make a significant impact

I think they have been naming almost on a team by team basis, I hope Nestea and MVP will be named in the next group. Pretty sure Nerchio will be in there too. Seems weird you included Naama in that list though lol.
