The tension created by the Nestea vs SC game was many times greater than this game. There's nothing really special about this one. Comments about this game could be applied to several other pro games.

Not when it's an ace match with a guy going 5-0 in it and the other being mma(took down 2 ace's prior). And honestly, mma played much better than sc, so on a technical level this was superior. nestea vs sc was such a nail biter because it was close to the very last second, which isn't commonly seen.

Man I really don't understand what was so great about the nestea vs fou game. I mean I suppose the last few moments were pretty tense but it was just tank marine vs muta ling baneling, and pretty boring I thought.

Yeah, it was only the last little bit that was intense. I guess a lot was riding on the line(30k for 2nd place at least, ace match).

Yeah, Violet was a really sour note in the whole series. Pretty much the only bad game. As a Code S player, with the map choice, and after seeing Keen just get totally sniped, he should have been way better than he showed.

If Violet wins that, then MVP is in great position to win with GuineaPig/DRG.

You also can't discount how lucky Slayers got with Pig rolling Zerg. Ganzi's best match-up by far was TvZ, and if anything else got rolled, he might have gotten taken out. Slayers is truly a magical team.

Just got back from the studio...there was a pretty awesome atmosphere there tonight. I don't know how Gom always manages to get such epic GSTL finals, but tonight was no exception.

Did you guys notice that MMA sort of had a moment with Ryung during the celebrations. Does anyone have a jpg of that fist bump?

From what I understand there is a friendly rivalry between the two.

I dunno if I'm reading too much into this. But as the two are arguably the best terrans on slayers, that moment seemed to me one of mutual respect and recognition, more so on the part of Ryung naturally.

Also, is it just me or did Alicia not seem all that pleased with the MVP title being awarded to MMA the second time?..lol

I love imagining all these narratives for these players.

Wish people would stop asking why these players aren't in Code A/S. It's different skills for any of the tournaments. To get into Code A you need to be above average versus everything and have a good day. Playing Code A/S needs preparation and research, a very important skill. GSTL is all about sniping and not very hard on nerves so players play a bit more relaxed and do weird new stuff with a lot more courage - not like there's a lot on the line, GSTL is more for fun.

That's why GSTL will always be more entertaining than GSL, GSL will always look more mechanical, pre-planned, it is a lot about how you prepare pre-game and a bad decision there can destroy your entire match (Nestea v Inca, I doubt Inca is really that bad overall, he just got unlucky with pre game preparation, so did MMA vs Huk).

MMA and DRG will get there, eventually, but they do apparently need more training/preparation.

It is 4-4 in the finals of the GSTL. One win would get you 5mil KRW more than the other team. All the hopes of your team rests on you. On one side you have a zerg who's 5-0 in the GSTL (4-0 vs your race). And on the other you have a Terran who was last season's MVP, has the best record in GSTL, and always comes through for his team.

How do you not feel nervous if your both of those players? Yes the GSTL is a lot more fun for the players, but when it comes down to that sort of situation, it's pretty much like a finals of an individual competition... pretty much like how it was last season with MMA vs MVP.

I felt so bad when MMA lost his up/down matches. The guy is so damn good, definitely one of the top 3 terrans in the world along with Bomber and MVP

Thorzain FD does not belong in the discussion.

I think FD TOP may qualify though.

that was definitely one of the most epic games ever... hell, at one point MMA had lings at his natural, no tanks and no marines.... and the 2 snipes by FroZen were crucial as well

Not exactly, is it? It's a "for fun" tournament and the prizes show it. The most pressure is probably on the coach for choosing right map/player. This makes it closer to friendlies in soccer where you get to see some awesome personal plays; I assume it's because you can/afford to use higher risk/reward scenarios plus the chance of one of your builds being perfectly countered is lower. And the lack of preparation time also makes it a bit volatile compared to what seems like precision calculated GSL games. GSTL is all for a great show, GSL is for the money/reputation. Another example would be like the all star games in NBA.
Yes, there's emotion but I never felt like they had anything to lose if they did lose or the same powerful preference for one player or another to win.
