Knowing nothing about BW's metagame it was hard to see them working. Wouldn't Corsair harass tip off the Zerg so he throws down a Spore, though? Or is it so standard that it's impossible to tell?

X_X Actually PL is not on WCG, they're just using the stage after WCG is done. But I don't think it's a problem as long as people don't start with the SC2 bash. Edit: Or not. Just saw the picture of WCG schedule and PL appears there. Still, it sucks having to read two threads to keep up with the comments. :<

They are almost systematically used if only as a scouting tool, be it with DTs, reavers, or standard army composition. The classic example of how sair-dt should work is obviously sAviOr vs Bisu aka protoss revolution. Here is Day9 + Nony comment on game 1.

Why bother having constant detection when you have floating supply that detect anyways? Keep in mind that spores are 125 mins each, and having 4 base = 500 minerals, which could easily be 6 hydras more. Anyways, even if you had spores, how do you prevent the DT from still killing things? It's better to play good defense with your hydras and your ovies.

![]() Besides his EPS win this weekend, there is not too much going right for him during the last months. And people who go 3-3 in group stage don't deserve to go through, arguing with sample size is just out of place here. You have to perform when it counts, and six games is enough time for that. There really is no sports out there where always the same players perform. Hell, Manchester United got eliminated yesterday in the group stages of CL although they clearly were (on paper) the best team in their group. Six matches should always be enough to establish that fact, if it is not, you messed up.

It's on the mainstage channel and no other games are being casted while it's on. It's part of the WCG festivities if you want to get technical and no one has been bashing SC2. Relax. Most people seem to be bitching about the format more than anything else.

So it's always a good idea to get one or two DTs. Even if zerg has spores and sunken colones at their natural expansions (getting them to build extra static defense is already a good thing for the protoss), you can drop them into the main. Even if you can't harass, you can camp them at potential zerg expos to kill any drones that try to make an expansion. It also forces the zerg to upgrade overlord speed and until then, it gives protoss map control. The actual investment to get a DT or two is very minimal and they have a lot of utility that makes completely worth it in just about every scenario (assume you've already invested in templar tech to get high templars).
