Because the benchmark has changed massively since early Dreamhack's, early MLG's and the last IPL.

Is the tournament casted from replays again? If so why don't we know the results already?
|
It's an ONLINE tournament anyways, as explained by their staff, you guys would bitch regardless.
Oh a korean lost? Must have had 5000ms latency!
There is a reason players like NesTea refuse to play online foreign tourneys.

As far as knowing the results, I don't know why they would publish the results before the tournament is aired by them. It would make watching the tournament less worthwhile if the results were released.

Anyway, all this whining is cute and all, but in the end it's not going to matter. Even with NASL having more "skilled" players (ie, Koreans), the first IPL was regularly beating the viewer numbers for NASL. That was with just 16 North American players in the first IPL. Now there's 32 North American/European players and an All-Star team of casters. People are definitely going to watch. I know I will be watching tonight :D

There is a reason players like NesTea refuse to play online foreign tourneys. There is also a reason why many online tournaments lately have been won by Koreans, such as recent TL Opens and FXO Invitational Series. The reason is because even with the lag the majority of Koreans are still better than most foreigners, and the added competitions make for a funner tournament to watch.

The actual NASL finals had like 40-50k viewers which is pretty decent and sure as hell wasn't because of their production values. We'll see if IPL can get that much. No hate on them at all I appreciate the fact that they put a lot of work into their tourney which is apparent by the quality of their stream. Just giving reasons why I'm personally not that interested in watching it and others might feel the same

You need to say "we'll see if IPL [finals] can get that much". Expecting some Ro32 match's viewer count to be on the same level of the NASL finals isn't being realistic.
This isn't some 3-day thing. Season 2 is going to last a month or so I would think.

Looking forward to some quality games. It not being live is still a bit of a downer. But maybe in season 3!

(Destiny is playing on KR from America) i dont really want to get into this debate but for the sake of correctness, KR -> US is much higher latency than US -> KR. This has been well documented and shown on many TL threads. And now I'll disappear, gl IPL your production in s1 was amazing, look forward to great things in s2.

Well, I'm certainly PUMPED for the IPL to resume with season two. Season one's production values were off the charts, and the quality of the players has improved significantly here in season two. The lack of Koreans doesn't concern me at all; I see them every day in the GSL/GSTL. The NA scene in particular (Europe less so) needs a regional league where talent can be encouraged. For all those haters out there, think of NA as a AAA club in baseball: some great players, some more than ready for the big leagues, who can have great games or shitty ones, but that are generally entertaining and are looking to improve. IGN is giving them that chance.
IPL fighting!

Their production quality has been top notch on that first season (kind of beta season) and I have no doubt they'll raise up the bar even higher this time! I think I read somewhere that they wouldn't be surprise to see a prize pool of 1 million from IGN if the league keeps going well in a year or so, that'd be freakin' awesome!
IMO, IPL>=MLG>NASL, but that's just me, I loved MLG too, but IPL spent less and did an awesome job too, plus, we have matches almost everyday

Man,i used to watch HD all the time but now i can't stand the guy when he gets hyped in battles,so artificial.

I can't get excited about watching these players, no matter how big the prize pool is and how high the production values are... sorry... :/
...You're dissapointed because Idra vs Drewbie is Ro32 match?
A) Get out then, B) That attitude hurts ESPORTS and C) Go IPL if this one is as good as the first we are in for one hell of an event!

I just found out about IPL recently and I was really surprised about the high production value. You guys are doing a great job!
