Foreigners aren't going to get anywhere in ESPORTS if they keep on getting beaten by Koreans in every single tournament they enter. Quite the contrary. Foreigners aren't going to get anywhere when they win these types of events without koreans. The only way they are going to get better is if koreans are there setting the high standard, which they aren't in this event. Winning an event like this has no prestige. People don't strive to be the best foreigner/american/european etc... they strive to be the best in the world and that won't happen unless they are put up against koreans.

So i for one am glad to see and support the IPL, and it's slant away from foreigners (i'm NA, they're the foreigners). Watching the better players from Korea is fun, but i can't relate to them at all. Don't get me wrong, I like the GSL, i watch it daily, but that's basically their house. I want our boys to have their own as well, their time in the sun. Go Drewbie!

1. Merit is stressed over cheap ways to build excitement. Sure, Koreans aren't allowed in, but within the foreigner scene, there is a clear effort made to have the best player win. Not only are almost all of the spots decided through a long and extensive qualifying process, but the tournament itself is double elimination, which always favors better players. 2. The prize distribution is great. Not only does every single player get some money just for qualifying, but the temptation to have the winner take half of the prize pool just for advertising purposes (a la NASL) has been resisted. 3. Production is very good, which is even more impressive considering these dudes are trying to do things nobody else does in the SC2 tournament scene, and succeeding. 4. Last, but not least, the community interaction from Alex should be hailed as an example of how to do it right. :brofist

I can't get excited about watching these players, no matter how big the prize pool is and how high the production values are... sorry... :/

IdrA is surely the biggest star of the NA scene (excluding HuK who's basically a Korean at this point ![]() He's got a feud with drewbie going on since the beta, this should be entertaining. I guess you could argue Drewbie hasn't been playing that stellar as of late, but he's still a top level NA terran and I'm sure he's prepared something for this~

The IPL's player pool is pretty meh and the only thing they got going for them is casters but ICCup's korean weekly actually also has a really good caster so I will not watch the IPL as long as that is on ![]()

You'll see players from Code S, A, and B. IdrA is fun player to watch, but I would rather see him play MC or another Korean again ![]()

It really turns me off from watching what otherwise looks like an awesome tournament.

After watching Korean play for the last few months in every tourney its hard to get excited about a foreigner only tourney unfortunately ![]()
