They are not playing the game for fun or entertainment. Hell if i was in the finals and having the chance to win 15k$, id play as dirty as possible.. Id even go and like take out the batteries or spill some soda over opponents keyboard, or basically do anything that might give me an edge over the opponent. Of course they will do whatever it takes to win and cheese counts as a win as much as a 40 min long macro game. In the end the guys and sponsors that pay the checks dont care that the winner won by cheese or long macro games, they care that by his name theres a number 3 and by opponents is a number 2. Also trophies, medals nor money dont care if u won them by cheese or not, neither if u deserved them or not.

You play sports to win, doesn't matter who's better or more entertaining. In the end, only the winner and prize money is all that counts.

The reality is: MC could not win PvP against White-Ra in a straight maccro game / high tech oriented play (robo) so he decided he would cheese 3 games in a row and win with his superior army control / game sense. He deserved it, but the game is dumb if you can win 3 time in a row at that level of play with such nonsense 10 years old build order. The game is so dumb that MC is hands down the most dominating player, even though he only relies on rushes (the way he executes his rushes is impressive nevertheless). Considering his playstyle, I don't expect his domination to last much longer. People will figure out ways to deal with him/the game will get patched, and then the solid players will start to shine. At least that's what I hope.

Game 1 - White ra with the hero probe Game 2 - MC just missed that timing where the nexus was building and the colossus wasn't out, I feel if he didn't go for blink he could have won if he attacked sooner Game 3 - Crevasse is almost as bad as scrap station when it comes to 4 gating, no other options Game 4 - MC gains that crucial early advantage and presses it with amazing micro Game 5 - CHEEEEEESSSSSSEEEEE Definitely entertaining if albeit short :D

If White-Ra had won Game 5 the same way, people would be sucking him off in this thread for having such big balls instead of crucifying MC for doing the same thing.

That's just a smart thing to do. Players whining about 4 gating, proxy rax, etc, really need to acquaint yourselves with the matchup. These strategies are essentially standard, you should scout and expect them. That is how bad the PvP matchup is right now. Don't blame the player for cheese, Blame the matchup. MC barely cheesed at all, because the strategies he did, which might be cheese if it was against Zerg or Terran, is standard in PvP

Macro games are not always more entertaining. If players agree to no rush 15 that would be boring and they might as well be playing BGH. But imagine that White-Ras's late scout would spot the pylon. Or wouldnt scout the wrong base first. Or that he would place his 2nd pylon at the ramp (and scout the gates). I understand you, I was "OH the scout misses the pylon!". Then "OMG he scouts the wrong base". Then "Oh yeah also pylon at the back". It was clearly over by then. If White-Ra would've have scouted the pylon or the the correct base he would have had time to react. And I bet a great micro battle with shitton of tension would've occured. I dont say there was no excitement in that game. I say there could've been more excitement ![]() Overall (disregarding MC/Idra game2) this "Dreamhack" was awesome. Good games, great production value, nice interviews, awesome casters, and an AWESOME host (first time I ever heard of 2GD but he instantly won my heart (he also won the heart of many of my friends)). Easily on par with GSTL. (And I seriously cannot decide which tournament was better).

Mind=Blown Everything was just awsome and the 7 hours I was there really flew away. NASL just got a guide on how to host a tournament.

Im a casual viewer. I watch some GSL, maybe TSL if I find the time. I dont play SC2 at all actually, even though I did play for a few months when it was released. I feel like im a good example of a "noobish casual viewer" and part of a crowd that the E-sport and SC2 scene really wants to get more viewers from. Now I do understand that for you that final game was really smart and all, but for me that didnt happen. And if SC2 want to make it bigtime I think they/we/production/casters need to find ways to make cheese like that feel just as epic as a 40min slugfest.

The guy had just lost the first 2 games of a bo5, was so stressed out by the possibility/almost reality of being thrown out of the tournament from a lesser opponent and what does he do? give in to a quick 0-3, go back to the hotel room and cry it out? Nope, hes too BALLSY for that. First manages to micro like a god in games 3, 4 and then takes a huge risk in the freekin FINAL DECISIVE GAME going for that proxy and pulls it out flawlesly. Leaders lead, followers follow (and hate).
