He just doesn't have sponsors and being from eastern europe doesn't make things easier...
This is related to what Catz says.. it's really sad to see western people qqing about lag or making other excuses when a korean loses.. I mean it's sad for progamers like Kas who makes pretty much a one-man effort to be competitive in the global SC2 scene, without the right infrastructure, team-houses and sponsorships. I guess there is need of a huge effort to re-educate the average gaming fan (who only watches GSL and MLG). There is so much ignorance out there and frankly shows like SoTG, consolidate misinformation -- because they repeat what the fans like to hear -- rather than enlighten people with facts.

Kas outplayed nada plain and simple. Even lag is a lesser issue here(if at all) since kas is from eastern europe. Sure nada might have potential to be better, doesn't mean he didn't get completely destroyed in this series though.

But lets face it their team is big in post CCCP countries. But if Kas decided to come as a BYOIC (or whatever its called) to the main tournament he can make a big surprise.
On the side note. If people do some research into Team Empire they would be a bit surprised about what players they had and still have. EmpireNani -> got better offer from Dignitas. Made a shocking showing in MLG Dallas 2011 EmprDieStar -> got better contract in Millenium (got there on Tarson recomendation). Check the TL Weekly Tournament Roundup. He always gets lots of 1st -2nd places during a week.

I'm shocked to see how many people didn't know who Kas is... The dude's been wrecking EU for months.
Glad I picked him in liquibet.

Yea, because when you're facing a legend, there's obviously no pressure. Just another schmuck you met on ladder.

Ditto.. more excuses.

Kas is so boss, I can't believe people don't know who he is...

What's nada's excuse for playing like shit exactly?
Don't get me wrong I think nada is capable to of performing way better than what he showed today. I don't know it seems like every time I see nada play Sc2, especially TvT, he seems to be obsessed with these 2 base timing pushes. Just not a fan at all.
Also kas is easily one of the best terrans in europe. He's at least in the conversation with sjow and bratOK. I think TLO could be the best european terran if had been playing only terran this whole time. I know goody does pretty well, but I would be surprised to see him relevant much longer, I could be wrong though

Kas played well enough to win and deserved the win based on just being solid. He didn't blow me away or anything because his play wasn't that spectacular, he just capitalised on Nada playing so outrageously bad. Nada just looks out of shape and practice, so many mistakes and errors in his macro and micro.

Very interesting stuff today.
Being from the US, I obviously don't follow the EU scene very closely, but maybe I should be. It really makes you wish that the Internet infrastructure had evolved another 10 or 20 years so that latency wasn't so much of an issue or if travel was easier for some of these players in more "remote" (right word?) countries.
Maybe some of the EU TLers could make some more posts for these smaller EU tournaments so we can follow them more because it's apparent that there is serious talent in the EU and logistics is a main roadblock for knowing more about them/having them compete in larger tournaments that are covered here.

Enough with all these arguments from the fans. I want to see what the players themselves have to say about the conditions they were playing and if lag had anything to do with it or whatever.

Maybe his team? I don't know..
But if he was able to attend some of those big tournaments I wouldn't be suprised if he naniwa'd his way through there.

let's just not make judgments regarding the kas vs nada matches; kas beat nada, that's it.
there's nothing that can be done about the lag. if lag contributed to nada's loss, then just accept it and hold your reservations. don't make this thread more sensitive than it already is by making statements about how nada w/out lag > kas. we won't really know until they've played each other in a "lan" setting in multiple best of 5/7s. let kas and his euro. fans enjoy their moment of victory.
that being said, you kas fans/one who supports any foreigner over korean should know your place too and post with hindsight.
we need an impartial TL moderator here...not seeing enough warnings for some of these comments...........

holy s***, this thread was a eye opener... didnt think so many TL guys were NOT following the EU scene and no i'm not blaming you but I find it quite... interesting
is it really just because there is not a thread for every tournament? I mean I always check the livestreams on TL to find out about current tournamens so it seems very easy to stay informed...
or maybe its just easier for me cause I do only 2 things, work 40 hours a week and the rest is sc2 playing/watching ^^
what I dont understand is why top NA (but also some EU players) are not playing in so many smaller tournaments. I mean even if its only 100 - 200 $ price money.. are they really already earning so much that they dont want/have to play in these tournaments?

I want to hear more of the Korean fans' reactions to this week's games.
|
The Tsl doesnt mean much to me anymore, anyways. The WC was very telling, and it's all i need to know about the states of the foreigners. There is no doubt in my mind that Nada is a better player than Kas, sadly, Nada doesn't take the game very seriously yet. I guess it's Mc's tournament to win now.

So I had to leave halfway through game 4 of qxc vs adelscott. The VODs aren't up yet, could anyone tell me what happened to qxc? He was really looking strong against adelscott.

Lots of top NA players do play in smaller tournaments. Maybe not top-top players like IdrA but you'll see a good showing in a lot of smaller tournaments, just not as much as EU.
I think one reason lots of people don't follow EU that closely is because they're following NA. It's easy for you to follow EU because you're European, the people playing are the people you would be rooting for in something like a TSL. In NA people want to watch their favorite players, which are mostly the North American players. If there is an NA and EU tournament being streamed at the same time, you'd be more likely to choose the EU tournament than I would because of the simple fact that you're European, and I think that plays a big part in it.

So because GSL champions beat some foreigners, Nada is better than kas? Are you kidding me? Jesus ive seen some borderline retarded opinions in my time but yours might just cross the threshold.
Also kas is quite well known if you follow the european scene at all..

Seriously, guy? Like, seriously? This deification of Korean players needs. to. stop. It's a level playing field. Koreans win in some tournaments, foreigners in others. Each take single games and entire series off each other.
Wake up and smell the roses, this ain't the BW scene anymore.
