Kinda means arguement or quarrel. More polite way of saying it.

Much like the government refuses to negotiate with terrorists, blizzard refuses to negotiate with its customers. In all seriousness it does astonish me that blizz hasn't resolved these problems either by giving MLG lan mode, or bringing some bnet servers in semi trucks to the events like they did for WoW Arena. Dream hack had an interesting way of guaranteeing bandwidth, but its not practical for MLG to do the same thing since they move around every time and the cost of getting a dedicated line to somewhere they know wouldn't have routing issues to the Bnet Servers for each of the venues is simply too high. The only reason DreamHack could do it is because they knew there were making a serious infrastructure investment that they will continue to use at every DreamHack from now on. At the end of the day Blizzard is the only party that could take action to resolve these issues. LOL

They are using convention center Internet??? I don't know much, but I have been to a few convention centers in my time, many in the US. Convention center Internet is always, without fail, incredibly bad. They always say it's good but it never is. There's really no excuse for not knowing this and not preparing for it. We have to remember that MLG Sundance is the CEO of MLG, and his excuse (always) is that there is never enough money. Yet, when we see his mug on TV with the shot of "20 million dollars" and the advertisers he has, we don't really connect the dots. How can you screw up so many years in row, at the same venue? Don't you think that's a bit disconcerting?

It's not a matter of server racks. In fact inside Blizzard's datacenter everything is probably 1000X more awesome than anything MLG can put together for their lan: I figure 5000 EUR servers with raid, awesome cooling, cisco switches, a really good contingency plan for accidents, etc. The problem is in the tubes, between blizzard and MLG there's probably a dozen of routers and kilometers of unguarded infrastructure sitting in the middle, and the quality of the maintenance on those routers is very bad. You just need one of those ISP's to shut down a router for maintenance (which happens a lot, cause big routers have complex operating systems that need frequent updating) and if there's not redundancy at that point in the route (by mistake or by incompetence) then you get downtime. MLG could try to hire a more direct route, basically they would have to contact any of the carriers that service Blizzard's datacenter and negotiate something with them. Doing this for every city where MLG goes, however, would be incredibly expensive. Blizzard would be in a better position to pressure their carriers, though, to give them better routes to the ISPs that service MLG, I could see that working, so people should not lose hope in that sense. Infrastructure is getting better all the time and the new hardware is very good at redundancy, no-lan could be a non-issue in a couple of years. But maybe the problem is software related, as in: huge memory leaks on the Battle.net server that cause occasional crashes, in which case, yes, a separate server instance would help. This is not typical from Blizzard, however, but this is Activision now so the quality of coding may be lower, who knows. In short, although it looks like Blizzard will have to do LAN eventually, something tells me they will try to work around it without doing LAN first. source: I've worked in datacenter and ISP infrastructure stuff

MLG connection is a big failure, bnet is working fine. No LAN support. Sure, we all want LAN support. The service that Blizzard provides (battle.net) is actually working fine though. You can't blame them for MLG's internet. Setting up a good internet connection for every Starcraft 2 computer is one more hoop in about a hundred that MLG has to go through every time they move from one convention center to the next. No, we can't blame battlenet for MLG's internet, we can blame them for adding one more hoop.
