It's fine to stay gateway heavy when you have a huge upgrade advantage as long as your macro is even with your opponent and you're being aggressive with them. Terran bio seems to scale better with food than gateway units, however, likely because stalkers are bigger than rines or mauraders and zealots are melee. That doesn't mean it's not viable to stay on gateways for so long though you just have to constantly be engaging and taking advantage of Protoss's superior ability to disengage or to chase down retreating units (once you have blink and leg speed). Adel's game in the TSL is a really good example of how to make it work. Grubby's play here is a really good example of how to make it look like it's impossible to stay gateway vs. barracks that long when that's really not true at all. | ||
