This made me wonder why some players aren't using their team tag or "known" handles. Destiny is in as Steven Bonnell II when his in game and ROOT name is Destiny. huk is GoSuHuk? (it looks like the rest of the team is sporting the Liquid tag) kiwikaki, slush (slush450?), and sundevil don't have the ROOT tag while catz and drewbie do. Idra isn't sporting EG while the rest are.
Doesn't it help "brand" players and their teams if they always use the tag and/or at least always use the same name? What if VileHawk and Destiny go far? They'll be known as Hawk248 and Steven_Bonnell_II unless told by the commentators. Casual viewers won't even know they were on a team or who they "really" are.
I guess it gets to me because it's "eSports" and uniformity is one of the first things comes to me as a spectator. It just feels unorganized and "weird" to me
It's probably not that big of a deal for everyone here, were all pretty hardcore about it but from a casual viewers perspective you'd think it would be hard to follow your favorite players.

MLG is a NA event... so USA or Canada, but in fact we had the same issues as MLG at our last event in Canada named ETS LAN 2011 at www.lanets.ca the bnet 2.0 was spiking and lagging and our stream was down too so i think it's the same problem again Blizzard need to add LAN function that would help a lot, more free bandwidth for Streaming or at least MLG should add VPN for starcraft 2 and give a limited amount of bandwidth for other game who doesn't really need it anyway it's my opinion

"For those that purchased HQ passes for Dallas, we will be providing you with free passes to watch the HQ streams of our Columbus Pro Circuit Tournament on June 3-5. "
Oh.. nice.

This is pretty impressive, and it's not like it's their first SC2 event so I wonder what happened for the traffic to be so much higher than the previous ones.
It also certainly shows how great teamliquid has handled TSL3, with their 30 000+ viewers; the stream was still fine for me. Try 50K+ viewers.
50K on HQ (sometimes) + 5K on LQ + GOM restream. On good days. 50K on HQ + LQ + GomTV restream, on normal days.

So much for 2011 will be the year of Esports.
MLG just set it years back.

I would have been thoroughly engaged in the waiting process had they just looped the Jeopardy thinking music over a crowd/stage shot. *shrug*
Come to think of it...

This mindless filler music is making my brain hurt

Yeah imagine, another Activision game (far more monetized than SC2) at that that supports LAN. Sigh.

You won't be seeing any advertisements either (instead you just see "Stream will resume momentarily" static screen during the commercial breaks) The stream is LQ flash-stream where the browser falls back in case you don't have Octoshape installed. It is streamed via Akamai (_the_ premier content delivery network) and they have a ton of capacity to handle live streams unlike (apparently) Octoshape. It bums me a lot that MLG haven't got their stuff together considering the huge amount of funding they received from VCs. Don't really understand their decision still to continue using Octoshape even after all the problems that have been reported to them on previous occasions - and especially use it exclusively in HQ stream. Akamai's delivery costs are considerably higher than Octoshape's, but where in earth they are planning to use all the freaking dollars they got - the live streaming from the events is in the core of their business that I don't quite understand their decision making with regards to tech choices.. This works wonders, thanks Thanks I can finally watch now :D

Anyone except MLG apparently.

The bracket uses their MLG account name or something, which the players probably didn't realize would happen
