Players such as Jinro, HuK, and Adelscott did not apply for this tour, so don't ask why they aren't on this list. DIMAGA, Kas, and LaLush turned applications in late so they will not appear either. Please take some time to learn who exactly applied.

Please inform yourself about who applied and who didn't.

From the NASL web site:

"We knew we had to go big or go home. We needed an epic prize pool. We needed the best players."

Why do I get the feeling that these people are just sitting back having a laugh at our expense? Everything they have done so far, is so low-rent, its almost embarrassing. The web site is a fucking joke. HIRE SOMEONE! Please dont fuck up esports, you jerks. Cant you do anything with this that comes off as first class?

NASL = NOT ABOUT SUCKING LESS.

Yeah you fucking jerk assholes, don't fuck up esports. Fucking putting on tournaments with 400k prize pool. Jerks!!!

A large prize pool does NOT make a professional tournament, OR promote esports. Looks like a lot of you got fooled. If the tournament turns out to be a big cluster-fuck, who cares about how much money was paid out. It wont do anything but insure that nobody ever puts up that kind of money again. The large prize pool should INSURE they get the small things right. But, up to this point, you have to wonder what they are doing. If not, you're just a fan boy, not a serious supporter of esports.

LOL.

That's not what I was addressing. I wouldn't have posted anything about your post if you didn't include the "Please dont fuck up esports, you jerks." line. I don't like they're current website it's bad. I thought the showmatch could have gone much better. They're said that they have the real website coming and that the showmatch didn't indicate their production values for NASL. I'll continue to provide criticism until that is unveiled and it shows they're correct and can provide those production values. I have zero problem with you pointing out things they're doing poorly.

However, when you, someone who has done shit for anyone in esports includes lines like the one I indicated above and suggests the whole thing is just some bad joke, that's just laughable. You literally accused them of potentially fucking up esports and being jerks. Seriously?

When your response to all the critisism they have recieved in the last month amounts to "LALALALALALALA", then yeah, they are jerks. Look at GOM. Every single complaint against them has been addressed almost immediately. They listen. You know why? They are a business! They cant afford to fuck shit up. All they do, is get better and better and better. Even with Kelly (god love her) she's out.

I have not seen, heard or read ONE WORD, that suggests these guys know what the fuck they are doing.

And obviously the solution to this is to call them jerks who are ruining esports. Even if they have zero clue what they're doing, how in the fuck are they jerks who are ruining esports? So if the NASL fails and a couple of new people who don't have a lot of experience decide they want to try to make a big esports event in NA, you would rather they didn't do anything at all?

Yes. I would absolutely prefer they do nothing at all, then to fuck this up. Fucking it up, is a lot worse than either not doing it, or turning it over to people with the slightest background in professional marketing.

Good list so far. Top players from both the European and American region. 1.5 Koreans. Can't wait to see the rest.

What the hell, Cruncher? What has he won apart from one TL open, which is essentially an online cup. That doesn't seem like good results at all. I can think of a TON of other applicants who deserved to be invited instead ;/

Definitely some surprising choices made so far. I expected most of the conversations about this to be about the worthwhile guys that got left out due to there only being 50 spots..but it may very well be talk of "I can't believe this guy got in, he wasn't even on my top 100", instead..

OT: Hope QXC gets things back on track after not even winning a game of any of his matches at IEM.. (same with Fenix). I know there are 35 more spots left, but the lineups so far are underwhelming in comparison to the TSL thus far..

List is ok so far, as people noted there are already several questionable choices...

Guess we should wait for the full 50 before judging though, who knows maybe its best till last :D

The only way it's good is to basically let us know that Grubby and Artosis will be invited as well. There is no way they can invite Cruncher while leaving them out, they said they wanted skilled/interesting players; grubby and artosis is just as good (if not better) and way more interesting(and loved by the community).

Catz is Catz, glad he made it. I definately think Cloud, Cruncher and Darkforce are the three questionable ones at the moment. I want to see how things develop because those three immediately seem like they should have gone to A) Koreans or B) Fan-favorites like Artosis.

Thats what I am thinking aswell. Who did they leave out of the league at the cost of these players? Have they left out Artosis?Grubby? That would be a disaster. Who wouldnt want to see Grubby vs moon in sc2????

We obviously dont know that atm so its hard to judge them yet. But I must say that out of all the applications, 4 of these 15 wouldnt be in my top 50....

I cant think of anything dumber than releasing a partial list of contestants early. Even if bogus, it does nothing but stir controversy. Well done.

God i thought the players that they would announce on their first announce date would be SO much better. I mean the only notable people they announced that have many fans internationally and are renowned esports figures in sc2 so far are Idra and Moon and maybe Kiwikaki. Naniwa definitely has the skill as seen by his play recently but why Release THIS group now? Why not release on the first day, bigger names. Like Idra Moon, MC, TLO, Tyler, list goes on.
this just feels like another Justin.tv invitational with a prize pool that is huge. ya the Prize pool makes it a bigger tournament but the players need to back it up.
I mean look at TSL. each matchup had one BIG name except maybe .. oh wait i cant think of ANY so far
for a league thats supposedly bigger than TSL and is the future of E sports, inviting players that have such a small fan base, such small personality and such small accomplishments like Cruncher really dilutes the hype that this tourney was bringing up.

seems like you should just invite Some of EG, some of Fnatic,ALL of Teamliquid, some of ROOT, all of mouz, all of dignitas, all of OGS, all of TSL, all of Startale (all being the ones that applied), and then those few euros like White Ra, Dimaga, BRATOK, etc.

arent those already more than 50 players???????????????

like who the hell did u cut for Cruncher?
Bomber? oGsInCa? oGsEnsnare?

it seems like the NASL just listened to frieking Pokebunny.
im positive good players that DESERVE to be in this are going to be cut and its just sad. I want to watch Good high level games. Just look at these GSTL games. non COde A and Code s Koreans like MiN and Ryung are better than literally every foreigner. The Skill gap is still pretty evident. i just dont like how this is going..

and BTW Im positive Grubby is at a level where is a lot better than most of the players that got accepted today. please at least take him in if u take in a player like CruNcher

I can see the justification behind every pick except for CrunCher. I'm not trying to bash on CrunCher or anything, but I'm kind of flabbergasted as to how CrunCher got chosen considering that this was based largely on results. Besides winning the TL Open, CrunCher hasn't really won anything else besides 3 showmatches. Just a really odd decision in my opinion.

Anyhow, good luck to all who get chosen!

Thanks SmoKim!

Anyway.. I like the fact that there releasing the players slowly. It lets the suspense build. I also really want to see the groups slowly unfold. It just gives me something to look forward to on times / dates nothing else too big is happening. If all 50 were just released .. well it would be cool, but also not as interesting to me as this ! ^^
Team LiquidUnderneath it all they were really quite nice. They just got screwed up. Mostly by stuff that wasn't entirely their fault.

Not a bad list, although considering the quality of the applicants, I'm scared they might be forced to leave out some big names.

Ok, I'm going to take a wait and see approach. Maybe NASL will stack the last 35 with Korean invites. Because only inviting 1 korean in the first 15 group is pretty weak. The next 35 wiil determine if I pay for a HD pass and watch NASL.

Don't mind me

I can't imagine what people expected from NASL. Maybe they had it in their heads that the player list would come out and it would mirror the GSL Code S/A lists with those who didn't apply being replaced with TL/ogs/root members but I personally didn't expect much. Their initial announcement suggested a limit on Korean players and while they've gone back on that I still don't expect this to be a Korean-dominant tournament. Referencing the preview video is also foolish as it's obviously just marketing hyperbole.

I really expect NASL season 1 to be on a similar level as the first few GSL seasons in terms of average player skill but I'm not dissatisfied with the invites released so far. There's little point to criticizing every individual choice as there was no chance that they'd be able to invite 50 people pleasing everyone.

As far as Cruncher is concerned, he qualified & is competing in TSL so while he may not be the best player if he's got a spot in a 32 man tournament that has a possibility of having more Korean invites than this tournament I can't see why he doesn't deserve a spot here. Expecting every Korean that applied to make it into the league is pretty foolish.

Seriously.... who the hell is being cut for Cruncher? he has barely any results, barely any fans, and most of his tl open run was abusive 1-2 base all ins

hes probably friends with one of the higher ups :p interesting considering how adamant NASL were on preventing collusion
