Even the amazing shots are hard to appreciate you pretty much would need a slow mo cam to really enjoy them.

When many people say there's a lot happening around the map, that's not particularly true. Most of the time teams don't initiate action at both sites at the same time. Even if they split a single site, their opponents usually put pressure on one side of a site's entry versus the other which delays action on one of the sides. Plus, by looking at the overviews and positioning, most of the commentators know where the action will take place and by whom. The slow-mo option was once in the game in previous versions, but as 1.6 was updated over the years, it broke the auto-director feature and eliminated slow-motion. I think it can still be enabled, but it's not nearly as cool as it once was in 1.5 and previous versions.

He's English and has been commentating CS games for ages, and that's pretty much my reasoning for saying that commentators don't know the game enough. I'm English and played at the top level for a while and I've never played against him. You only know so much from watching the game. Why does everyone respect the commentary of Day9, Artosis, Tasteless etc? Because they know the game through playing it at the highest level.

Actually I'd say only Artosis does actually know high-level play, as an actual player I'd say that HDGamer would be at least close to being better at SC2 than either Day9 or Tasteless. ' Quake seems like fun to watch, really fast-paced. I don't really like FPS in general but this seems allright, Gunz is fine as well.

The slow-mo option was once in the game in previous versions, but as 1.6 was updated over the years, it broke the auto-director feature and eliminated slow-motion. I believe CPMA (a mod) for Quake 3 was used during its competitive cycle which dramatically changed how the players moved compared to Quake Live. Also, other things like tweaked weapon damage (most notably, the Lightning Gun... and the Railgun, maybe?) Funnily enough, even after the switch to Quake Live the top players from Quake 3 basically maintained their dominance. (Cypher, Cooler, Rapha, DaHanG, Spartie, etc...)
