I was hoping for a 12 drone rush on Steppes. But I guess that's beneath IdrA

just comes to show the difference in skill levels overseas

well i actually really enjoyed the series, it was really awesome seeing idra completely diversify his play with early aggression, weirdly placed hatch on scrap, big roach pushes when we hardly ever used to see him go roaches at all in TvZ.
i think it was really cool to see how he's strayed away from his same build-same playstyle every game like before when he just relies on solid builds and superior macro

it certainly made a difference in the entertainment value though. granted there are clearly not many balanced maps in blizzard's pool, the first 2 are certainly not part of those.
most logical way would have been to have both player veto 2 maps and play the remaining 5.

n1. IdrA is really op. Blizzard should nerf!!!!111

that was a giant advantage giving idra the map choices... especially when it became clear the ping was a non-issue and that QXC had been playing so many games all day.
I hope future EG cups will learn from that mistake. Other then that, it was a fantastic tournament and hope EG will continue to put out good content. but i want EG players other than idra to produce results damnit!

idra beat qxc close positions metalopolis, what makes you think delta quadrant or steppes of war or any other map will make it better? I mean even MVP got owned by Idra in Steppes of War

I think it's my zerg bias, but I still love watching IdrA beat people in overwhelming fashion. Still, it was an extremely awesome tournament. qxc was fantastic most of the day, I'm sure the 6 straight hours of SC2 took its toll on him.
Also nice to see stalife and Slush do so well.
Also, the obligatory nice job to Wheat, Day9 and Scoots. I think it's a given by now that the EG MC production is going to be top of the line. We're getting spoiled by it.

It feels like I wasn't even watching Idra play, his style and strategy just seemed so much different from his 'norm' a month or so ago. Idra really does deserve to have some map choices to even out the ping disadvantage, nothing wrong with that.

well, when you put it like that, you make a good point. however, entering a series knowing you have no choice over maps can lower your spirits considerably. i still think this affected qxc.

qxc happens to get hit by the falling rocks, falls into the spikes and the lava is coming up.
The end!

It's still Idra's normal playstyle... He just added a Roach Warren and some Roaches when he sees heavy Marine/Helion play (or some other playstyles that trigger it). His goals is still Zergling, Baneling, Mutalisk while keeping a marco lead. By adding the Roach Warren, he's not changing his play style, he's just using them offensively because that he would keep his drones (economy) safe. He's intelligently adjusting his build/game plan so he doesn't straight up die to what QXC was doing. <_<

This tournament was awesome! Day9 and wheat casting for HOURS two days in a row is just unbelievable. I can't imagine how difficult that may be. Thanks to the EG guys for putting this up ! It was AWESOME!
Also, very very great play from qxc all throughout the tournament. I was especially so amazed by his games vs machine.
Idra, just showing that he's on another level. just wow haha

He is in the employ of Evil Geniuses and I'm sure these sorts of appearances are included and compensated for in that contract. I think it makes for an awesome showmatch at the end of an awesome tourney.
