Basicly rainbow didnt use a single harass unit in any of the games, and that cost him. No hellions/reapers/banshee is really stupid.

Morrow's reaper micro is way better, he can kill roaches without getting hit too much, now idk if there was any lag involved, that could explain it, or if it's just lack of reaper micro training from itr since he doesn't use them that much. Even Morrow trained with Dimaga the day before the IEM final.

I think those crazy reaper micro days are over with the 5 second nerf. You need at least 6-7 reapers to kill one roach. Zerg will just push your base with 5 roaches and leave couple of them in his base. You can't do anything about it.

I come home from an incredibly exciting finals, and of course people just have to complain about a boring finals and how bad ITR was. Why can't people just accept that these two players knew each other well, having practiced together often, and therefore tried to keep one step ahead of each other? Cool just happened to be a step ahead, as you can see by how he 100% predicted those clifftanks both games - if ITR had went for early harassment, I expect Cool would have been ready for that too.

Cool made Zerg look good, not ITR. Jeez.

some zerg whiners are so stubborn... can't you give credit to cool, instead of putting it down to bad play from rainbow?

truth of the matter is that zerg is only a whisker weaker than terran/toss. in theory terran should beat equally skilled zerg. but too many factors and variables come into play throughout a series, or even a single match, so it's only a microscopic issue.

I want to see that game again! Are they releasing replays ?
I wonder how he did survive the game on scrapstation. I thought it was so over when he build that proxirax and fruitdealer went hatch first.
It was amazing how he won that game. I think rainbow was probably nervous and didn't play his best, but can you actually play hatch first on scrap station vs that build ? Would the game have ended differently if rainbow build bunkers ?

Anyways hopefully fruitdealer will qualify for GSL season 2 ! Cant wait to see more of him

Judging for the recommendation polls in the OP, it's simply a vocal minority. Though I must admit I'm doing a terrible job of not letting it bother me heh.

Eh were you watching the games.. he tried that, On LT he did a tank drop on the ledge, and constant drops, but it all failed. He tried to proxy reaper.on scrap station. He did a very fast mass marine push on desert oasis that would have destroyed Cool if he had gone mutas, etc.

Cool himself said in a post-game interview that there was almost no way he'd lose to a Terran that went for a fast rax. I'll post a translation later if no one else does (though I'm sure someone will get to it before me).

Edit: Nevermind, looks like it was up already

yeah really boring. hopefully we stop hearing crys about how terran is OP. i dont know how many times i heard the prediction of a TvT finals, and terran didnt even win. this game is really balanced!

Balance talks aside, I don't anyone can argue that zerg is simply damn hard to play, much harder than protoss and terran. If you look at the gisado thread (daily king of the hill), there's constant terrans with long win streaks, never zergs (or protoss).

imo tank drop the way he did is really, really poor on LT. Thor drop is a million times better, if you tank drop you need to first drop two after which you elevate some marines and SCVs along. He executed poorly.

EDIT: So what I'm saying is that he had the right idea in some games but his execution was poor and that was hit shortcoming. You can't just say "oh he did go tank drop" since you also need to execute well. EDIEDIT: meh

I might want to watch the first match again, the stream I was watching cut out just as ITR was beginning his DOOM PUSH and when it came back, all of a sudden Cool had Ultras everywhere.

I think Cool's gamesense in anticipating ITR's moves and builds was the biggest factor in his victory (Not to take anything away from from his no-doubt excellent mechanics). The win on Kulas was really surprising.

It is always like this. At this pro level of play the one who wins is the one who doesn't make a mistake and the one who keeps his cool...

Have there been any SC/BW tournaments with a bigger first place prize than this?

Also, what signature moves can be rightly attributed to Cool or even named after him?

-Baneling drops onto mech or to kill SCVs at Planetary Fortresses?
-Mass queen transfusion of mutas mid battle?
-Smoke speedling ambush?
-Transfused spine crawler defense against cliff drops?
-Anything about the guy's use of fungal growth?
