This is a face palm. My brother plays this so called competitive WoW, and apparently he is pretty good (Best on his server or something), however, every time I walk into his room he just mashes the same 3 buttons the entire time. Seems like a lot of skill is involved.

I'm specifically talking about the game where he failed in the first minute of the game. He gets his tech lab delayed and still puts a bunker up with a measly marine in it? Not even I would do that. He left his base completely undefended, what kind of terran does that? You obviously have no idea what you are talking about if you call 5rax reaper the easiest terran opening. reactor hellions is sooo much easier to do, not counting any of the 3 rax pushes or marine tank expand. 5 rax reaper, done with good micro AND macro is one of the harder terran openings to pull off against a good zerg, much less one of Slush's caliber. My point is, he wouldn't be able to do a hellion because he's so far into the early game rush scene that he just can't go into mid or late. He's horrible. If 5rax reaper is so hard, how did he get so far? All it takes is practice, OF 1 BO!

Off to get some beef jerky and some old spice. Totally agree. This event is epic. You made me laugh very hard on last sentence. Don' t forget your hot pockets.

"I love these creative rush infester plays!" "zerg players should explore these creative play options!" while the Zerg player who did it just got curb stomped in 15 mins by a Terran with 3 Thors demolishing his base like paper....lol *Edit to say* really did enjoy the matches and the casting form JP & Day9 and Huskey &HD tho, just feel that sometimes the effort to remain impartial can make the commentary seem a little...... ....obtuse. *Cheif Wiggam voice*..."nothing to see here, nothin to see.....

The only reason Brood War takes more skill than other games is because of it's popularity. Any game that can reward players with hundreds of thousands of dollars a year is going to be fucking hard to play. ![]()

What makes wow pvp challenging is not the same than what makes sc2 challenging, can't really say it requires the same skill when the gameplay is entirely different I'm not going to bash nadagast though, it's not a crazy idea to be good at two different games.

Yeah, I get the feeling it's just like 600 Diamond players going "SC 2 is ezmode. I win with 4 gate all-ins every game NP." Top-level WoW Arena has something that SC 2 definitely does not have - team work. This alone makes it a very different and yet exceedingly challenging game in many respects.

So much is simply based on being the right composition to beat the largest percentage of opposing teams and so much of it feels out of your control, whether its gear or simply luck based around numbers, critical hits etc

The amount of skill required to play a game professionally depends almost entirely on the skill of other players. Therefore basically any competitive game has the potential to be the hardest game ever to play professionally. Any game that can reward players with hundreds of thousands of dollars a year is going to be fucking hard to play. ![]() I kinda understand what you're saying, but all games arent created equal and cant be compared in that sense. WoW is waaay too much about compositions that just steamroll everything else and almost force the same match up to occur over and over because its such a min/max game. Every patch in SC 2 will be to balance the online component pvp and it was build from the ground up to support that, WoW wasnt.
