if your talking about apollo and day9... give them a break
it's day9's first major event and dApollo is first time commentating. They both do pretty good job.
I'm not talking about Day and Apollo, just Sc2 commentators in general.
Day and Apollo are quite good, I even said so in another thread.
These guys are exceptional though, I don't think I caught a single um or er and didn't talk over each other once.
I think there's a lot more "dead time" in RTS games though, these quake guys can be just be calling the action from the getgo more or less. And it's only going to be 10 minutes (barring overtime)
They are great in general, I admit, but I think they are far too different to cast them in identical fashion.
hah, so tired of this russians always saying when they loose, how its not their map, that they didnt play it at all, and yet they have the map memorized.. I also dislike the fact that there are still the same booring maps.. specialy for someone who played quake 3 before, like me..
I've determined that international scene is fantastic. Hearing everybody speak English, even if it's not great, gives me a big ole' banana grin. It's not just Koreans or just Americans. It's people from all around sharing their thoughts and getting together to compete. The post match interviews are awesome for that reason... and Take of course.
addition: IEM has been fantastic and it's not even finished yet.

This isn't even their best commentating duo. Missing 2GD.
I think every commentator in esports could learn from Jim and Joe. They are unmatched.
I don't know if anyone posted something like this already but here are few tips for Octoshape if you can't get the stream running. This is from my PoV and problems I had so maybe you recognize yourself and you can fix it.
When there was TLO vs Madfrog Showmatch, Octoshape was required. I installed everything right and I managed to get into the stream, but I didn't know how because I tried a lot of things. So with little trial and error I kinda figured out what to do for the next Octoshape event. Which is now. This is for Windows. I guess it is the same for all Wins but I am using Win7 64bit Ultimate.
So, you install the plugin and nothing works? Yep, same here at the beginning.
Try this. I know it sounds lame and cheap but after IEM day1 Octoshape problems it is running flawlessly now. Install the plugin and reboot. Now, I am using Firefox, but despite everything I tried, I can't get it to run in Firefox. Actually I can but it stops and freezes frequently so it can be annoying when it crashes in the middle of heated stream. BUT I found the remedy. This also sounds crazy but it works. When I tried IE 64bit it would show same symptoms as Firefox, BUT when I start x86 version and just go to sc2.tv it works without any problems. I know the problem is not in 64bit arch but I just found what is working great so I really don't care why until (if) Octoshape becomes main streaming thingie. Then I will research it a bit further. So, if you are having problems, I am recommending that you use x86 IE for watching. Who cares if it is IE, you only use it for Octoshape.
If you still get errors, just be patient. Refresh the sc2.tv page or try clicking "Play" after you get error "Stream not avaliable" or "esl.something stream not found". Just keep pressing "Play" and it will catch it. Sometimes you can end up in commercial loop where you only see ads but with a bit more patience it will drop you into the stream. And when you get into the stream it will work perfectly.
Again, I really tried a lot of things because I really wanted to watch the stream first hand and not on someones stream because of quality.
So, the easiest recipe I found to work flawlessly is to reboot after install and use x86 IE for watching. you also need to install Flash and Java for IE so plugins needed are all there.
And another note... When you are watching stream on Octoshape, don't rape your bandwith because Octoshape works somewhat like torrents so don't be stunned if it kills your stream.
