I don't claim to own this build at all, in fact it's a 16/16 reaper opening, and the remainder of the build is probably already out there on the web somewhere, but if you could improve this basic build or point out any inefficiencies please let me know!
The reason I choose this build is because I like to play aggressive multi-tasking with MMM with a strong focus on solid macro to get me into Diamond league at least.
As I start to lose to people who can match my macro, only then I start looking at the usefuleness of new units, and different compositions. This is a macro check, I simply don't dabble into modern unit compositions until I know my macro is melting faces on the ladder. :D
Basically this is just a classic TvP build adapted to the LotV economy. Again if it you see any inefficiencies please let me know.
--Standard 16/16 Reaper opening-- @100% Reaper, Reactor on Rax. (Constant Marines) @400 Minerals, build Command Centre Supply Depot 2nd Rax @100% 2nd Rax, Tech Lab (Stim) As gas allows, Factory + 2nd Refinery (after Stim) @100% Factory, Starport + Factory Reactor @100% Starport, Double Medivacs
Load up stimmed marines and attack, while expanding, getting up double engineering bays and infrastructure into a 3rd base while having constant SCV production, unit production and no supply blocks.

Just from the build I can't tell you how to improve or be more efficient, it would be helpful to post a replay were you played that build. From my experience it is critical that your macro is on point, when you are harassing at the same time, for me that was one of the biggest problems to get into masters league, because almost every time I made a timing push or drop I would gather way too much overminerals and gas.

Oh, this is exactly what I need for my dabbling with terran in team games! I especially like that it goes fast drop.
I enjoy adding a liberator or two as well so I can be an asshole in more different ways, and I add tech lab and tanks from the factory to help allies hold the defence. But yeah, that is team games from a gold zergs off race.
Anyway, thanks for the build!

what is the standard 16/16 reaper opening
|
14 Depot 16 Barracks 16 Gas 17 Send optional SCV Scout When Rax finishes Reaper and Orbital Command Send Reaper across the map scout and harrass, unless its a Terran who is doing some reaper all-in stuff. You will probably see this on any terran stream.

It's kinda sad, but I have lost all passion for this game. I know how hard you have to train to be competitive, and I remember spending hour and hours and hours in a custom game, back in HoTs, perfecting a 3CC Hellion build against Zerg. Or training 3 different openers for TvT and training to adapt to my opponent. Or spending hours on forums learning how to read Protoss gas and count pylons to see if there is any Protoss bullshit on the way.
At best I got High Diamond.
I say this because the above is exactly what it takes to reach a high level in this game. Knowledge, purposeful practice, and a passion to be the best you can be.

I often felt that way and took a break, sometimes it was weeks, months and once it was the entier year of 2013. In the end i got masters by hard training, but training without fun is very inefficient. I would suggest to take a break or just watch Starcraft and if you really love the game and competition sooner or later you'll get motivated again. Also i recommend to everyone who wants to play starcraft competitivly but not professionally to play 1 hour per day 5-6 days a week, instead of trying to ladder a whole day. So you will improve slowly but steadily and you concentrate better, when you dont try to rush things.

Your build is a reaper FE into 2nd rax, I only use it in TvZ. To me this build is not efficient both in TvP (very difficult to deal damage to a good protoss with a marine drop now) a liberator first or a mine drop are way more usefull, and TvT where you have to delay the first reactor depending on what you scout (or you ll fall behind any 2x+reapers BO, especially the standard build gaz first into 2 reaper 2 helions).

I've been using a variation of this build quite a lot in both TvZ and TvP. The variation included a 3rd barracks to pump out more marines. Recently though i've been experimenting with 2 rax only and it's far more flexible than 3 rax, since if you have to add, for example, an ebay + turrets for an oracle or DTs, the third rax stay idle 90% of the time, imo it's not worth the investment. At least in TvP. Right now i'm experimenting with a faster second gas for +1 weapon and it's working quite well.. even though i still have to figure out the optimal timings. Also i've seen polt doing a widow mine drop first, then double medivac drop followup with the same timing.
Edit: After a couple tries i found the optimized way to include the +1 weapon upgrade as well for the timing attack, tell me if you guys want me to post the build order

This build is good if you have tons of multitasking and micro, and I think its useless on tvt, since you can just meditank and defend the drop easy, since your first drop has no combat shields, It really punishes greedy zerg that went 3 hatch on no gas. But if you have NO multitasking you should not try this build at all
|
Managed to find the optimal way and gas timings for: -Double medivac drop with +1 weapon (TvZ)---(16 marines, 2 medivacs) -Widow mine drop into double medivac drop (TvP)---(16 marines, 2 widowmines, 3 medivacs) -Widow mine drop into double liberator push (TvP) ---(12-16 marines, 2 widowmines, 1 medivac, 2 liberators) The timings are almost all the same, i'm at the other side of the map at 5.30. (tested on dusk towers) Tell me if you guys want me to post a guide of it

I'm a plat-diamond player and I do a greedy TvT build that has done very well for me so far. Will upload a replay or two if you guys want after work.
- 16 rax / 16 gas Standard Reaper
- CC @reaper completion
- Reactor Barracks (constant marine production)
- depot
- @100 gas Factory
- take 2nd gas
- @Factory 100%, tech lab
- Starport
- Command Center
- swap factory and starport, begin cloak and banshee
This above gives you a really fast 3 base economy. In TvT I keep the opening reaper around my base in case a 3 or 2 rax cheese comes my way. If I see reaper cheese incoming, I alter the build and begin to add barracks around my base. Edit: If i'm not being cheesed, i'll use the opening reaper to scout my opponent, which ironically, typically arrives in their base as they are pushing me with the tank/lib combo.
Most Terrans I play (who are plat or diamond) almost always go for some kind of early aggression with tanks/liberators/marine drop. If you macro is tight, you should have a banshee out when the push hits your natural. With a greedy opening, your goal is to survive with minimal scv losses. Once cloak is finished, you should be able to clean up the tank push with ease.
Use you marines you've produced to right-click down the liberator when it shows up. It's important to spot the liberator before it sieges. If it does siege, make a viking instead of a 2nd banshee and pull mining from the affected base. With 3 command centers, it's not that big of a deal to pull workers. Once you've held, you can go harass with the banshee, get aggressive, etc. I typically harass with a banshee while getting up 6 barracks, 1+1, and 4 medivacs with near constant tank production, where I proceed to crush the aggressive terrans dreams and hopes.
I realize it probably won't work in masters, but i'm currently 5-0 vs Terrans using this build.
