Hello Guys!
I am TheMagician, High/Top master Terran player from France playing for team Black-Listed. This is my first guide, so not everything is gonna be perfect but I will update step by step to make this guide as clear and complete as i can. I hope you will enjoy it
The build order I am talking about is the one Mvp used twice against Stephano in the WCS Europe final.
Note: This guide is adressed to every Terran, but Masters in particular because the BO is quite hard to execute due to the need for harass and macro at the same time.

Introduction
Once upon a time, a pretty good zerg player called Stephano wanted to go for a macro game vs the King of Wings, IM_Mvp, but he got punished twice for this by a really, really strong buildorder, beginning with a heavy hellion/hellbat harass into a mother f****g big Bio/Hellbat/Medivac/SCV push to finish him off. Here we are, the goal of the entire build order is to put pressure on the Zerg, killing drones, making him lose mining time while prepairing a very strong push to kill him.
Mvp's Build Order
+ Show Spoiler + First I used the supplies and then the minute marks for reasons I do not have to explain to pro gamers like you . - 10 : Supply ( wall off ) - 12 : Barrack - 13 : Gas - 15 : Orbital Command & Marine - 16 : Marine/SCV - 18 ( @100gas ) : Factory - 20 : Reactor on Rax - 21 : CC on low ground - 22 : 2 Hellions (you switched the Reactor from Rax to Factory ) ≈5:15 : Armory and 2 Hellions ≈5:50 : Starport ≈6:00 : tech lab on rax and 2nd refinery @%100 Armory : 2 Hellbats @%100 Starport : Medivac ≈7:30 : Stim and start Marauder production ≈8:00 : 2 Barracks then 2 Reactors as soon as finished and start Marine production At the 11:00 minute mark you are around 100 supply. Just go and crush your opponent with Marines/Marauders/3 Medivacs/Hellbats and between 10-20 SCVs. In conclusion, I would like to say that no matter what the exact BO is, if you follow Mvp's game plan : First harass, then all-in with Bio/Hellbat/Medivacs on 2 bases with 3 Raxes, 1 Starport, and a reactored Factory.
Guidelines
+ Show Spoiler +The Goal at the beginning is to harass and keep the Zerg busy while you are peacefully macroing and developing your own base : -You first go with your 2 Hellions ( then 4 ) to have map control, clear the Xel Naga towers, and delay the Zerg's 3rd base. ![[image loading]](http://image.noelshack.com/fichiers/2013/22/1369739753-hellions.png) -Now that your first Medivac is out you can drop 2 Hellbats in b1 or b2, but you absolutely do not want to lose these units ( you can obviously trade your Hellbats with a lot of Drones but do not lose the Medivac because you need it for the push ) -Don't forget to scout the technology that your opponent has to be ready for the 11 minutes push. ![[image loading]](http://image.noelshack.com/fichiers/2013/22/1369739621-mvp-push.png) -At 11:00, just go crush him to his third. Once you take it you are in pretty good shape, put your SCVs in front and go crush his army. And don't forget to continue your unit production and rally them to your army. Bio/Hellbat forces can deal with every Zerg's t1 units and Mutalisks in small numbers, don't hesitate to stim 2-3 units when you see Banelings coming.. ( Micro tip : When you push at 11:00, if the Zerg plays Ling/Banelings, you want to tank with your Marauders, but if he plays Roach/Baneling, you should prefer to keep your Marauders alive

Again, some build order notes with very few explanations ≠ a guide (read here). You forgot the Starport timing and Mvp used a different order in the Star Station game.
Also, please. Mvp is not Platinum, so he goes 10 depot, not 9.

He commented that he accidently clicked to post the thread before it was ready. It appears from the 'guidelines' section that he was in the process of providing more information for this build order.

Thx i can also read after myself. Even if he did not use the same build on star station, the goal is to all in at arround 11 with bio hellbats after harass.

I shall try this out in my next TvZ game. Just started playing again and a build like this is sure to get me going! I'll come back to detail my results and if they are positive I will ask you to make guides for strong TvT and TvP builds!

Diamond Terran here.
Tried this build on ladder and it works rather well. Have to say... the more damage you can do with your hellbat drop the more successful the 11min push will be.
Wonder how this build will do in TvT and TvP
Thanks for sharing!

Mr Magician, what would you recommend to Zerg players to counter/scout for this build? Is there a vulnerability before you build your first hellbats that could be punished? What is the best way to deal with the hellbat drops if you know they are coming (roaches, spores, spines, queens?). I would love to hear about the Zerg perspective to make for a more well-rounded guide.
Thanks!
|
Would be cool if you added replays. Of course I can watch the vods, but replays are better. You're presumably using the build so post reps!

Roach early pressure is good vs this ! or a baneling burst all in but this is shit
you can deal with hellbats with 1 spore per baser +1 spine or just queen + roach but MOVE YOUR WORKERS OUT OF THIS SHIT !!!

Hey. Thanks for the build. Just a friendly reminder about those replays. I am going to try the build now, but as I just got promoted to Plat my replays will not help much the community. Will give feedback though.
TvZ is by far my worst matchup.
|
Was thinking of practicing this build for an aggressive alternative to my staple 14CC build.
Would like to hear if any diamond/masters+ as anyone been doing this build with success.
|
This build is super strong, it works like a charm in Diamond for sure, and Ive beaten more than a few masters players with it as well.
OP has it right that this build can be micro intensive, because it works best if you do some harass with your first hellions into the hellbat drops, but even if you are off a little bit in lower leagues it shouldnt be an issue, the 11 minute attack hits like a ton of bricks. I consider the hellbat drops the most important harass, so if youre gonna cut some harass to save APM, do it with the first 4 hellions, not the hellbats.
If they rush to mutas you can be in trouble, but with proper scouting you will see this coming. I havent tried moving out against this at an earlier timing, but 2 base muta is light on early units so I feel like the marauders and hellbats can get the attack started and head off the mutas before they come.
|
I'm rank 1 master and I've been using this build the last couple of days and I've been very successfull. However this build is hard countered if the zerg is going for a +2+2 roach allin, it's also weak against a roach ling bane 2 base allin.
So basically this build beats pretty much everything except what I just mentioned, if the zerg is going macro hes dead, unless you fuck up.
Btw it's super important u put 2 scvs in the second gas immediately when the refinery is done, if you wait 2 long your macro will get fucked, u'll have like 900 minerals and 50 gas, struggling to make medievacs and geting the 2 reactors for barracks.
Another tip I have is, when you push at 11 min don't have the scvs with the army, pull the scvs a couple of seconds later so the zerg doesn't spot the scvs until ur at his base.
Also when you push rally your production at his third, and push at his natural with your army if you know he has a third, that way if he survives the push at the natural your reinforcements will take down the third, giving you a big lead in tech and economy ( I usually throw down 2 engi bays and a CC, additional barracks during the push)

Will this still be viable with the upcomming helbat'nerf'? Since haras will do much less damage and much less damage to lings when the attack hits
|
Huh? Hellbats will still two shot lings
|
On July 09 2013 19:37 habeck wrote: Huh? Hellbats will still two shot lings
This is correct. But they won't two shot drones anymore, so perhaps the harass will be a little bit less effective. And ofcourse if zerg has +1 carapace you won't 2 shot lings anymore either.
|
Can we call this the Brain Train, which is the terran equivalent to the Soul train? Also it may be possible to execute this even now, just with a slightly delayed timing.
|
On July 09 2013 19:49 Henk wrote:This is correct. But they won't two shot drones anymore, so perhaps the harass will be a little bit less effective. And ofcourse if zerg has +1 carapace you won't 2 shot lings anymore either.
Yes still 2shot lings, but splash will be much weaker and the helbatdrop haras will be much less efficient. So i was wondering should the timing be delayed (with more/less haras) or a slight different aproach.
|
Haha this build is identical to how my primary TvZ build is. However, I tend to drop 3 times with hellbats, then adding CC+e-bays instead of the two barracks and focus on a 3base macro game. Its really strong aswell you manage to do dmg with hellbats, but weak against early 3base roach push since you wont have many marines ready. Im gonna try out this 2base instead.
|
Seems like this build is kinda over now :/ Or i just face opponents who (blind)counter it and do so with succes Every TvZ i played they go for 2 base roach/bane. Every zerg i play opens roach.
|
Gonna try this out, thanks! I need more builds. my tvz is woeful x
|

Just check for a third with your initial hellions and if there is no third, keep checking and look for a roachtrain crossing the map, make some mines, add some bunkers, be happy in the knowledge that you're ahead.
edit: just realized your comment was like two weeks ago, apologies.
|
if you research +1 mech attack from the armory, then hellbats 2 shot lings even if they have +1 armor. and at a 11mins I find most zergs already have 1/1 by the time you get there. I recommend +1 attack for hellbats, makes a world of difference. costs only 100/100 I believe
|
the hellbat drops were never meant to kill zerg or cripple them heavily, it was to force them to play defensive and get roaches. some hallbats, mines, marauders and marines and medivac count will do wonders against a zerg who had too many roaches and not enough gas for banelings.
