People wnana see more 1-2 base builds and aggression and pressure..

The game is still new. However, is there at least a decent opening/strategy for each match up?

I cannot play ladder lol Im not confident enough because I dont know anything about the new BO in HOTS.

Maybe....

TvT: Standard, unchanged, except drops, WM etc.
TvZ: Bio + WM and hellbats?
TvP: add WM?

How do I safely establish my 3rd base vs Zerg?
I generally build my 3rd CC well before 9 mins but I'm always very afraid of leaving my base, especially if the opponent is going ling/bling/muta.
I theoretically know how to handle it (depot wall, drops, threaten attack, turrets, spread tanks/mines), but in an actual game i would just to prefer to sit at 2 bases forever :p.

In general, I would like to be much more aggressive and active with drops but again, leaving the base vs Zerg is scary! Those run-by's are painful and you can't protect everything wirh turrets...
I would appreciate it, if someone could show me some Recent TvZ games that involve strong pressure/ timing pushes.(watched MLG but.. I'm not flash... I usually get punished real hard if I play that greedy early game.


For the record, I'm low diamond right now. I also hate (pure) mech play. Thanks in advance for any answers!

Even against muta ling the terrans at MLG were doing work with multi pronged emergency afterburner drops. this makes the zerg scared to leave HIS base.

But without good reaction time you just free loose your drops vs 1a muta, so i would not advise it below mid masters.

Btw it was not the case at all with Flash vs Life. If zerg keeps up with terran multi-task and had a good ovie spread, then he should handle it rather easy.
I would only advise to multi-drop a gling/muta player only on certain timings (juste before mutas pop..) and situations ( want him go back at home to had a clear path of attack, without counter-attack risks; or you are in a dominant position and he is mainly worried by your main amry, etc. )

I just played a zerg that used swarmhost and was wondering how you guys deal with them ?

In the game he had 16 swarmhosts backed up by 4 vipers and 25 roach/hydra.
I tryed to brute force that with my Marines and a few marauders but did not go well, even tryed to add battlehellions.

For one rax reaper into hellion harass into marine tank, after your first rax and reapers, is it better to expo before factory or factory before expo? Also, do you take your second gas after making your first factory?

1) Yes, proxy marauder is a very good opener vs any reaper opener. As evidenced in game 2 of flash vs innovation in mlg.
However, it's not a direct counter - you'll need a good deal of micro and multitasking to win the game.
How to transition is up to you, most people will probably go for a mech transition or the original cloak banshee followup into mech.

2) Most people use bio widowmine at the moment, but bio tank is still viable. Tanks are better at defending allins now because you don't have to research siege mode. Tanks are probably better vs certain compositions(roaches hydra) while widow mines/hellbats are better versus others(ling baneling). At this point everyone are still experimenting and figuring it out.

6. You tend to bank gas in the later stages of the game if constant action occurs though. Can be good for a Raven transition, can be bad if you die with 2k+ gas. Depending on how the game is going you can probably pull some SCVs off the gas at some point.

Tanks or circumvent, but if he managed to get 16 Swarmhosts against bio you probably did something wrong.

Expand before Factory. Timing of the second gas depends on the match-up and your transition.

I'm new to terran and have some (noob) questions if you don't mind

So, here we go:

1. I am a reall fan of bio play (hence the reason i switch from wol zerg to hots terran) but on a saturated base how many rax/starport are ideal? At the moment i go with 3 rax (2techlab, 1 reactor) and 1 starport with reactor per base i have.

2. my current T vs P/Z build is 1 rax expand (no gas) into 3 rax into 6 rax, 2 starport (3rax-1starport/base). Now i do the 12 rax 15 cc and when my cc is done i just add 2 raxes. But I never really know, when to start adding gas for addons etc. When is the best time (or just general idea) to add gas?

3. TvT i still go bio from time to time (same build as in question 2), but i try mech also. With this i wonder, when you are turtling etc (when do you really try to push?) when you are maxed etc on so many bases and whatnot, when do you really start transitioning into air?

4. Concering bio heavy play, what are good maps to veto? at the moment i have only veto'ed neo planet s because i just don't like the map in general.

5. i just remembered my 5th question ^^ In TvZ when i go rax expand, most of the times the Z takes a 3rd base. I have no clue how to deny or haras that, since i only have 1rax and some in the making. If i just let him and get my own 6 rax etc he just rolls over me with superior economy How can you deal with this?

In TvZ, what is the fastest way to counter a swarm host rush? I tried to scan them and attack with bio ball but those locusts are crucial.

TvZ, what's the best way to follow up a 12rax Reaper with if you're planning on going into 3 Orbitals and reactor hellions into bio? How many Reapers should be made in general? Is it safe to go for a third CC off the single proxy rax? At what time do you get the second gas?

1. Check the OP in the Terran Help Me Thread.
2. Bin gasless openings, there is much better to do with Reapers (to scout and pressure) and/or Mines (to defend Oracles). By the way rax 2 and 3 should be started as soon as you can afford them, not once the CC is done. The old TvP build order was 1 rax CC rax rax gas gas lab stim fact EB gas port reactor reactor lab. 1 rax CC → 3 rax was extinct in TvZ post-Queen patch. For the new HotS build orders, see Asha`'s post linked in my post above.
3. Complicated. Generally you push when you're near max with 15-20 Tanks. Air transitions occur when you're on 4+ bases.
4. All maps are fine for bio, only mech got the short end of the stick with Akilon Wastes being the only heaven in a desert of awkward and/or open thirds (Bel'shir Vestige and Daybreak are decent though).
5. Open with at least one Reaper to prevent the Drone from easily reaching the third before Metabolic boost is done, then get 6 Hellions and 2 Mines so Zerg cannot comfortably start mining at his third without first challenging your contain. Play some kind of triple OC opening to keep up in economy.

One possibility is Reaper X CC fact reactor CC lab gas stim. X can be a second Reaper or a Marine.
If the rax is in your base you make 1 or 2 Reapers, if it's proxied you make 4 (lift rax after).
Yes you can triple OC: CC fact (or the reverse depending on Zerg's answer) mine bunk reactor CC. The Bunker can be built lowground, in a corner at your natural, or behind your wall, again depending on Zerg's reaction. Same for the Reactor on the Factory by the way, you need to be sure he's not going for a Baneling bust before building it. From the last MLG you can check Last vs Life, Akilon Wastes and Newkirk City; Polt vs Life, Akilon Wastes; and Last vs Killer, Akilon Wastes (it was 11 rax 11 gas but transition is still relevant).
Second gas should be around the time you make your third CC.

Yesterday Aristeo went some early Roaches against my proxy reaper rax, in this case you need a Banshee to break the contain in front of your ramp, so you get a Starport and possibly an earlier second gas.
