There's a window when a pylon is finishing building (the warp-in animation is finishing), but you don't have the supply from it yet. If you try to build something during that window, the map counts it as a hard supply block. Or, it did for me (in one case). I don't know too much about the SC2 map editor, but this seems to me like something that would be really hard to fix. But I figured I'd at least let you guys know. By the way, this is a really cool idea for how to improve. It's easy to say "work on your macro" or "have better mechanics", but kudos to you guys for actually putting numbers on it. When did you make that pylon? The way the map monitors supply blocks is based on when the supply building is created and when you become max on supply. For example: you build up to 32/32 supply. The map recognizes this and says "ok, in 25 seconds, if they are still at 32/32, its a hard supply block". If you started making a pylon before you hit 32/32, it will be finished (with supply granted) before that 25 second marker. If you waited until 32/32 and did it, you will have a hard supply block. Also, the supply block monitor doesn't check if you are under 20 supply. This is because many build orders will put you at max supply before you start building another supply unit. On another note, I had a bad value in the map for testing, if your supply block occurred before 20 supply, it may have been due to this. I uploaded a new build that fixed this. The actuals videos are pretty boring and quite useless in my humble opinion. (I don't want to sound arrogant or insulting) You really need to present TheStaircase with every tools you have. It'll make the product much more interesting. I'm not really a fan of TheStaircase at the moment, and I want to believe in your project, but I don't... yet. You really need to step up and make something that will explain to players how to use it, how to improve, and how to use the custom map. It's almost like a movie trailer... you want to "attract" players to your product, and again, in my humble opinion, your trailer is quite bad! Continue to work on it, I'm pretty sure you'll have something that is really good and useful! I believe it can work, but for the moment, you need to SHOW us how amazing this tool is! I'm sorry for being a quite harsh, but I'm trying to express my opinion in the most respectful way I can. Please, don't be insulted and don't think I'm arrogant or whatever!

Terran lvl 1 : Rax can build a tech lab and you can build upgrades at the engi bay (no gas allowed). You should disable the panel commands on the bottom left side of the screen, just like in the "Harbinger of death" challenge, so people can only use hotkeys to play and a warning if they queue units too much. Keep on the good work !

Well about how to better use the staircase i agree, i'm just using it blindly but i feel improvemnt since what i do is try to have my money low all the time but a deeper tutorial on how to use it can be really good also i'm playing on pro dificultie, and i'm actually on lvl 9-10, i sthis enough to go to the ladder and try to climb to another league, say to silver or gold league? or should i just keep doing the stair training till the end and then go to the ladder? Another thing about that last video about the SQ, i don't know anything about it, how to improve it is be better at macro but if i'm in bronze what should be my goal? how much i need to be a silver and so on? well i know that 90 is for masters but you know some directions on this matter is good too Keep up the good work :D

@Qube I'm not into sensationalizing and selling. This may be to my detriment, but for now, I'm going to continue to produce the video series that explains how to use TheStaircase in small segments. If anyone else is into the hype style and wants to tell the story of how they were using the conventional method for a long time and weren't making progress or enjoying the game, found TheStaircase, and it changed their Sc2 experience. Please, make that video. Write that post. Share your positive experiences in a place where the most vocal group are those with negative ones.

I honestly don't think he was referring to hype at all. Just because he used the word product, doesn't mean he is trying to get you to sell anything. The "tutorial" videos are not very helpful, perhaps because they don't explain the thinking behind your spreadsheet organization, and what all the data on there means to the user.

I mean, the way you present "TheStaircase" is real bad. What I mean by this is the following: Let's suppose I want to present "TheStaircase" to a friend. Instead of telling him to come on TL to read plenty of stuff, I decide I'll show him you're videos. I'm 100% sure my friend will say "Uhhhh... wtf is this?". You do not present HOW TO USE the tool. You're just presenting the tool itself. I read almost every posts in your thread and there is a LOT of confusion on how to use the tool. Do whatever you want man, I know you're not selling (for money) your product. But anyhow, you're trying to help people and, in my humble opinion you are NOT because there is no way to know how to use your tool. In your video, even yourself seems to be confused about the tool. Like I said earlier, this is MY opinion. It may sounds quite harsh, I'm sorry for that. But in other [G] thread, there is a LOT of USEFUL informations. It is useless to tell people how to use the data from SC2 to calculate the SQ if you don't even explain what SQ is and how to use that quotient.

Keep on the good work ! New build. Moved all Terran upgrades from level 1 to level 3. Reformatted TechLab restrictions. Bleh, destructables. I'm on it. I'll look into mini map resetting. I can probably remove buildings easily, but as for resetting fog of war, I am not sure if that is possible.

How do I do this better? How are the videos not showing how to use the tool? Why is there confusion about how to use the tool? Can you give me a specific example script of what a useful video would look like? Is there not useful information in the OP? What useful information is missing? I am very confused right now. Probably because I created this, but it seems so simple. 1. Start with a small number of units and buildings. 2. Add more units and buildings when you hit the benchmarks 3 times in a row. 3. Repeat Step 2 until you have all units and buildings. These are all honest questions. What is missing in these videos?

I'm @ work at the moment, so I can't tell you exactly what is missing, but I'll try to give you more infos in the next days if you want. But mainly, as of right now, I haven't see the custom map AT ALL in your video. The spreadsheet, yes it's quite cool, but you really need to explain how to use the custom map. I'm trying to help you here, I don't think I'll use your tool but I support it since it's nice of you to put time and efforts in that project. However, there is some flaws in my opinion and I'll try to do my best to point them out to you. As of right now, I simply think that 3 minutes videos (4 of them) aren't enough to explain how to use this tool, how to keep track of progress, how to use the custom map, etc.

TheStaircase system itself has had a while to make the rounds, is still getting updates, and is constantly improving. As for the custom map... well that is another story. The project just isn't complete enough to have the level of detail you are describing. The custom map isn't talked about at all for good reason. We just released it publicly about a week ago, it is very unstable and what is there now will probably change a lot while I continue to make improvements and push new builds. To put this in perspective, I upload probably 3-4 builds A DAY. I am constantly trying to figure out problems and solve the things that people are leaving feedback on. To make a video about it is very premature at this point.

You seem to think that because you know how your stuff works, everyone knows, but I'm pretty sure it is not the case. If you think your tool is alright the way it is, just leave it that way, I don't care bro. Like I told you earlier, the videos, to me, aren't appealing. It's quite "do this do that, see ya". I don't like that. Maybe that's because of my job I have this reaction but in my opinion, when you want to "sell" (not for $$$ but you want people to use it), you have to have to be somewhat attractive with your "product". Of course the map is new, but still, why don't you do a "session" on how YOU use the tool. From A to Z. Your attitude gives the impression that everyone knows how to use it properly and move forward, etc. I told you what I think you should change in your tool/videos/thread and you seem to think it is fine right now. It's alright man. Personnaly, I don't use TheStaircase but I'm pretty sure it could be much much better... it lacks SO MUCH presentation and how-tos.... I'm done! Sorry for bad English syntax... English isn't my mother tongue.

Generate more creep for Zerg players at beginning of game. Should effectively be full creep size from Hatchery. Added destructible recreation. Added map revealers for duration of menu display. This allows for reset of mini map when you start a new game.
