I stayed away from the Naga because it looked like too many buttons to me! I dunno how you manage to hit any given one reliably in a stressful situation... Personally I use a Naga Hex (6 buttons) that I have assigned to cameras 1-4 and ctrl groups 9 and 0.

I played WoW up to a 2950 rating in WotLK and was ~975 masters last season.

I have never tried using the Naga mouse but I have found that even using the two side buttons on just about any mouse is much less effective in sc2 because removing your thumb from the side of the mouse really impairs your accuracy. The huge difference between the two games is that even in high level arena, mouse accuracy really doesn't mean anything as you rarely ever click anything on the screen. This allows the side buttons to be utilized much more effectively without messing up your accuracy.

I used to have a Razer Lachesis (2 buttons on both sides, and 2 little ones below the scroll wheel which I rebound), I've played WoW in the past aswell and used pretty much all of them + shift/cntrl modifiers.

I have used every button in SC aswell, but chose to go for a mouse with less buttons (was using the Lachesis for 3.5 years), now I have a mouse with just 2 at the side which I use for Starport/gate and Factory/Robo and that's enough for me really. I just don't know but at one point the buttons I had to use with my pinky were getting annoying.

Also for the naga isn't it just too many buttons? I asked my mate who had a naga for WoW, but he says he doesn't use any of them at all for Starcraft.

So last night I tried using my naga's side buttons a little more to see how it felt. It was kind awkward still only thing I found that was good was when I would make units and add the eggs to my army hotkey. Otherwise I preferred just using the regular keys for queens and hatcheries.

I have a naga aswell and I've bound 6 to 0 on the mouse because it's inefficient to have my left hand move over the right side of the keyboard. Works great

I only use my mouse buttons for sentries (FF's/G Shield) and Templars (storm) one button for each. I think having too many hotkeys on the mouse would slow you down a bit

I think I might rebind cycle based to 11 or 12.

These type of mouses are great for MMOS in which your char has over 50+ skills/hot keys needed to play well.

But in RTS games like sc2, It will just make you ALOT slower, Alot of mistakes can be made with accidently hits during high preasure events like trying to maco behind stutter steping @ a master lvl.

It will lower your apm not matter how good you are with the mouse. Might be decent for lower leagues. but custom keybored will always give you faster play. Its very hard to micro fast using multi button/keypad type mouses. Diff in master+ using races like terran tryint to micro a large bio force while macoring behind it, i can forsee alot of miss clicking due to the hot keys on mouse.

Also input on mouse to your CPU is alot slower then hiting keys on your keybored. Just my 2 cents

Be very careful with the Naga. I've had it since I was bronze, and now I'm diamond. It's very VERY hard to go back once you get used to them, My macro slipped down to like high gold from high diamond the first week i switched back because of clicker issues with razer.

Im high masters and I've been using the naga since starcraft 2 launched. Claw grip style with my thumb resting on the 4 on the mouse. I play terran and use 4 on the keyboard for ccs and sometimes 4 on the mouse as well for kind of a hybrid style. I use 7 on the mouse for all production, 8 for factories and 9 for starports. I can play without it I just use 3 for all production but I feel my macro is more accurate with the mouse buttons because theres less movement of your finger. Shift + mouse button is easier imo then shift + key for certain keys that are farther away.

I used my friends NAGA to play SC2 at his house and it was sick, I used it for control groups(8,9,0) and Camera. I tested this in Plat and Masters, for casual, its comfortable and really easy to use, at top levels I see how it could be a problem with the mouse shape/movements/speed. Also I heard it is not allowed in tourneys(?) E.g. GSL/MLG

Overall fun mouse if you are casually playing
For pros, it would be dependent on the person, but I would think you can get a better mouse for speed etc.

It is only not aloud if used for macro functions via third party programs or mouse drivers. Otherwise, binding 1 to 1 function to mouse 4 and beyond is within rules.

If you put most used control groups to the mouse side button (such as production facilities, hatches), you cannot spam those keys fast enough to check status. It is cool to put the utilities commands/control group to the side button tho. I used to put my base cam to the side button and it worked amazingly in terms of backspace inject. But now I started to step out of that and start using the space key. Overall I am not a big fan for 12 keys on the side. I like 2 keys, maybe 6 max (the razer mice for DotA 2)

Before getting the Death Adder, I considered the Naga. I decided against it because I figured while it would be good for other games, Starcraft 2 is a lot of mouse movement, which becomes more difficult when trying to hit buttons on the side of it. Also, and I'd love to get some input on this, but how difficult is it to activate the correct button quickly ? Are misclicks common or is there enough room between buttons to get the correct one quickly ? This was another potential drawback that steered me to the 5 button Death Adder.

I use bottom thumb button on mouse for warpgates. It's perfect for me. Not sure I want to play without it ever again.

Also, I use top thumb button for camera move (mouse wheel down rebound), but that's a much more stylistic thing and I'm sure many would disagree ^^

I use this mouse, and for a while I used the 10 button for forges, but I don't really find it all that useful to use these bindings instead of the keyboard, but I understand the ability to gravitate towards it.

I've always used the N52TE, which is not a mouse, but allows me to have many keys under the other hand, in a way that is much better than a simple keyboard. This is an old thread I opened about it:

http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=162271

As for the mouse, I use a mouse 4 extra buttons, but more than that would seem hard to use: it seems like pressing a specific button on the side of that mouse isn't so easy, especially if you got big fingers

Will tournaments including the major ones allow you to enter into their tourny with this mouse/set up?

I've used the naga almost since it came out. To me, the buttons feel incredibly large. I know that they are fairly small, but when I am first binding a button I visualize where it is to the action it performs in game and I visualize a huge button. I can distinguish a large difference in thumb position for each button.

However it did take some getting used to.

I agree with the reduced accuracy, in SC2 I would only use it for functions that don't require accuracy. For instance, if you are trying to snipe, that horizontal pressure can shift the cursor enough to miss the snipe or to snipe the wrong unit. However for more broad actions I like using it. Such as changing camera location or unit binding.
