Hi Jak,
Are there any hotkey changes already known from 0.5 to 1.0? It seems from your comments that 0.5 is gonna be kinda final and that moving from it to 1.0 is more about getting all the explainations and videos sorted. I just wanted to know if I got it right.

i sincerely hope so otherwise all the waiting would have been kinda pointless

Its possible someone else could come up with something new to add to it which is good if it improves it even more

The "plan" is to start working on 1.0 after 0.5 is released. However, this community tends to come up with brilliant ideas, soo... I'm not making any promises.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you:
TheCore 0.5
https://skydrive.live.com/?cid=123164804EFAADB8&id=123164804EFAADB8!105
Enjoy
Concerning Version Acronyms
The first letter of the version is your race: Protoss, Random, Terran, and Zerg
The second letter of the version is your mousing hand: Left and Right
The third letter of the version is your layout size: Small, Medium, and Large (for this one find the home key position that is most comfortable for you) JIOP and WERG are the medium sized layouts. KOP[ and QWEF are the small sized layouts. HUIO and ERTH are the large sized layouts.
You should be able to hit Ctrl, Shift, Ctrl+Shift, and Alt as comfortably and quickly as possible with your thumb. All of the different sized layouts are exactly the same, except they are moved one key to the left or right, so changing your layout size should not be a problem at all. Feel free to spend several games on each to find the one that's right for you (although you'll likely be able to feel the best one right away)
The fourth letter of the version is your preference of 4th and 5th mouse buttons. If there is a fourth letter, the mouse buttons are there, if there is not a fourth letter, the mouse buttons are not there.
Concerning Modifier Changes We have made new modifier changes, this will likely be the biggest hurdle you face as you tackle the challenge of learning this layout. They are detailed in TheCore Document but are as follows.
Control Groups: Add with Ctrl Recall with the key* Create with Ctrl+Shift (you do not need to do this to create a control group, but to overwrite one that is already in existence. Use add to control group to make your control groups if you do not do this already)
Layered Cameras: Create with Alt Recall with Shift
*Layered Control Groups (Zergs Only) Add with Alt Recall with Shift Create with Alt+the key to the left (for lefties) or right (for righties).
I understand that this last one is weird as fuck. Maybe the weirdest thing we've done yet, but it hasn't stopped us before, and it is not going to stop us now. Don't knock it till you try it.
DISCLAIMER: There may be unbound keys in your layout! We made these layouts programatically with the help of Spoof and JDub. There may be some unbound keys and issues we need to work out. Especially with the small sized layouts. I wanted to get the files out asap, as I know many of you have been waiting for them. Please help us troubleshoot by letting us know if you find discrepencies between your layout and what the data document says, I will be working on issues with 0.5 as they arise from 18:00 GMT (+00:00) until 20:00 GMT (+00:00) today, so stop by at www.twitch.tv/thejakatak during that time to give your feedback so I can fix stuff right away. There is likely to be a 0.5.1 with bug fixes, but not major changes.
There will be videos to come. For now, you are the pioneers of 0.5, happy exploring to you :D

Thanks for all your awesome work guys! I look forward to trying this out!

This makes injecting smoother as well as moving all the other control groups in by 1 key. Its very very nice :D

Will try it out soon!

Also, note that version 0.5 is Heart of the Swarm Compatible.
This means that your version will work for both WoL and HotS. There will be no change in hotkeys for you as you transition to the expansion, only added hotkeys for the new units and abilities :D
EDIT: I am working on the forsaken 10th control group for Small Versions. It is a minor nuisance and will be fixed soon.
EDIT EDIT: I was so wrong about the minor nuisance. It looks like we're dropping CGs or layering them. I just don't know how well a layered CG will work for the other races... ideas?

I'm trying to get use to two rows of cams but I've hit a little snag with ZRM 0.5
shift and - does not recall cam instead it selects my army which is -
I have a UK keyboard, has it been verified to work on others?

@Star Seems to be working for me.
Concerning the Small versions. For now, you will have less Control groups than medium and large versions. Layering seems to be the only option, but it might conflict with some camera keys.
EDIT: All known errors are currently fixed. The Small versions (for the time being) may have 1 or 2 less control groups than the medium and large depending on the specific version.

Special thanks to the early, early adopters who tested it immediately and found the few bugs that were there.
If people still run into any issues, report them here ASAP and I will deal with them immediately.

There will be a future patch that optimizes functions for observers. Until then, if you change bindings in the Sc2 client, there will be some unbindings. (about 5) use the data document to fix these as you see fit :D
Thanks for your patience :D

Thanks for your patience :D This is because we unintentionally have overlaps that shouldn't really matter, but Blizzard doesn't like, for example Next Subgroup and showing the Army Leaderboard when observing. If you want to make slight edits, the other option is to edit the .SC2Hotkeys file directly in notepad, as the keys only come unbound when you make an edit in-game.
This will hopefully be fixed soon.

ZRM 0.5 has morph to baneling as E likely to be a mistake

If anyone is having a problem with archon warp, spine/spore crawler, or morph baneling, these were all caused by typos of mine and have been fixed in the latest version.

In RRM:
Alt + 9 conflicts with one of the minimap toggles.
There's something weird going on with Ctrl + Shift + 0 under Windows 7 (not the Vista Region/Language issue.) It acts like Ctrl + 0, and I can't unbind whatever's bound to 0.

when i remap 0.5 for german some keys are not working due to overlay with things like health bar display etc, and i just discovered that sc2 seems to have an innate hotkey remapper, when you switch your keyboard layout from EN to DE the sc2 hotkeys switch automatically
|
The default key of "Show Ally Life Bars" is set to ´ (acute accent). This causes a bug where you can't build advanced buildings with a nordic keyboard layout (since = is mapped to ´). Since that function is redundant, perhaps you can set a dummy hotkey to that function?
