This is a great package, I've just started picking it up and the learning phase is rather slow but I can already feel how much smoother this feels than the default bindings. Thanks so much for this!
|
ok im gonna say this right now this is really hard to learn if u have played over a thousand games with the same hotkey setup then try to switch i am on my way to getting a hook on this hotkey setup but kinda makes me want to punch a hole through my computer simply because of the fact when starting to learn this setup you have no idea where anything is.

I think you are having a hardware issue. Have you tried it on a friends computer and/or keyboard?

i think you're right, or maybe its something with the keyboard settings,
can you answer this?

@malak Sorry I missed that! Its a mistake. The files should already be fixed!

I'll start trying to use it seems interesting. Thanks for making this.

Thanks Pucca, we're glad to help.
I'll be working on TheCore 0.4 for 2 hours today, we'll be working on the Left handed, medium sized versions. If you have any questions or comments, please direct them towards the stream:
www.twitch.tv/thejakatak
EDIT: done streaming. We have PLMM and RLM ready for download now :D
note: if a key bind is Ctrl+Alt+Shift+F# it is intentional. That function we feel is inefficient to use or not reliable enough to be part of TheCore. Feel free to rebind them if you disagree :D

i'm really liking the new version so far except I dont like the switch of the patrol and hold position keys,
why where they changed? also the lair / hive key is harder to hit now

Lair and Hive are harder to make room for the new units. (Hatcheries and Larva have overlap issues)
Patrol and Hold Position have been switched to prevent redundancies. Stop and Hold Position are now on the same finger. (same-ish function)

Thanks so much for helping out Phatency. It means a lot that you're still helping out even though you don't play Sc2 and are super busy. We really appreciate it.

I just wanted to say I've started using this layout within the last few days (ZRM) and I really like it. It's going to take a while to get totally comfortable with it but I already can see the huge advantages. I'm using all 10 of the unit control groups and I feel like some kind of wizard controlling all my units so easily.
In case anyone's wondering, I'm doing:
9/0/- main army (lings/banes/infestors, or roaches/hydras/corruptors, or whatever) P hatches [ inject queens ] creep/defense queens L scout ; harass 1 (mutas, often) ' harass 2 (lings for counters) . all overlords (for mass creep dropping and to recall them quickly if there's mutas/void rays/phoenix out

@ Swordfish
I never thought of doing an "all overlords button" That's pretty wild.
2 more hours of TheCore today, 5 versions left to do manually, and then we start writing the map to make the versions for large and small :D
Please direct your questions here for the next 2 hours:

It's something that I've been meaning to do when using the standard layout but I never was able to manage it with the control groups so spread out on the keyboard. I've made a point to spread my overlords really well and position them over all the expansions on the map so it's great to be able to just press 2 keys and drop creep to deny ALL of their expos rather than spending 10-15 seconds selecting each one individually. Also I've lost quite a few games where I didn't scout a muta transition in ZvZ and lost because he killed all my overlords and supply blocked me.
Regardless, thanks for all the hard work! I love super-optimized things like this (I type with the Colemak layout, for example) so it's great to see someone doing all kinds of science on this.

I find that 'I' and then 'I' would be much quicker, especially because I and J are not the easiest to hit (as per your instructions its with the ring and pinky finger. Droning is a key part to Zerg, so I feel it should be an easier thing to do. For example, Darkgrid, hitting 'W' and then 'W' was so easy for making a drone, perhaps 'I' and then 'I' would be easier? I also feel like it would make sense because you make more drones than overlords, so the easier key hits should go to the more prominent units. Thats my thoughts so far for Zerg.
Still giving this a go, making adjustments as I see fit. So far its feeling very weird but thats expected, I'll get back when I test it more!
Thanks for your efforts by the way both of you ^^ Thank you so much man. As far as not using 'I' for drone, it is faster to hit PIJ than it is to hit PII (P is the optimal CG for hatcheries. The overlord is give the PII combination because you are likely building a specific number, and usually a lower number than other units.
I'm confused, because in the hotkey setup i'm using (right handed zerg) my hotkeys are 'o' for select larvae and 'o' for spawn drone. which, of course confuses me when i look at the chart on what control groups to use for what and i see that o is supposed to be for queens (or hatchery or something) but not only do i not have a control group bound to 'o' but if i did, i imagine it'd get tricky when i was trying to build something with a drone lol....

is it just me or is stargate prioritized before robo? Im talking about tab production. If this is what i say it as, I think we need some changes.
Also some feedback:
imo i think pylon cam key should be 1 press of a button. Shift + control is way to slow... darkgrid does this perfectly. 3 and then 1 voila you got units warped in.
|
Tab priority is not under our control. Blizz decided to hard code it in the game.
As for pylon cam, way ahead of you. Try H. You can set that cam with Shift+H and recall it with just H :D
EDIT: My mistake, H is Zerg only. Try U.

ALso is P your first base camera key? and when you for example want to chrono, do you go jiop or poij?
