TheCore 1.0 Files are complete and uploaded to github and skydrive! (the files will still say beta for the time being, but 0.8.2 is the same as 1.0 as far as key binds are concerned)
PATCH NOTES: Protoss: Fixed a bug where the oracle's weapon was diverting to the standard layout. Fixed an oversight where the guardian shield was not on the proper key and causing finger repetition.
Terran: Terran production on Zerg layouts improved by moving reactor down one notch in priority
Zerg: Added rapid fire spine production. Added an alternate to build basic for faster spore production. Fixed an oversight on PTR layouts where burrow was incorrectly bound. Improved Ultralisk key in PTR layouts
All Races: Changed build commands and upgrades to be more consistent to aide in learning the layout faster: Passive upgrades are done where ever possible with the key to build that unit. Active upgrades are done where ever possible with the key to cast that spell.
Global: Fixed an oversight where right handed versions where not getting their global keys mapped properly. Improved Idle worker and cancel to reduce finger repetition and lower overall keyscore. Added alternated to center on current selection and free cameras so that quickly checking production via camera and going back to the main army can be done quickly and efficiently while holding shift.
We will not be altering these files for a 3 month period aside from things that are broken and need immediate attention. For these next 3 months will we be turning all of our attention to finishing up presentation:
Visual Aides by Verde Spreadsheets by Beedebdoo Visualizer and the last 2 videos for the quick start guide.
When this is done I'll be contacting TL mods in the hope that we can get a feature on the front page for the 1.0 official release (last time I talked to them we were criticized for not having enough high level support/endorsement). In addition I will be contacting GLHF magazine for an article in their next edition.
TheCore Community on Team Liquid has been incredibly powerful and resourceful in creating this layout. If we want to see it played we have to channel that power into spreading the word that TheCore 1.0 is coming, and the files are already out for those who want to get a head start. If we each send just one message a day to a pro, analyst, caster, or coach to check out TheCore and most importantly, to have a discussion with me about it. I know TheCore as well as anyone, and I'm confident that If I can have a discussion with someone I can convince them of its benefits, and to support us in improving Sc2 through it. Let's make this shit happen

Hi guys,
i just downloaded The Core and wanted to start to learn it. Unfortunately there seems to be a bug in the german version activate pulsar beam (oracle) and the social menu are not bound.
Cheers,
chris

Still broken. :/

Well, I somehow managed to cram the complete table of cameras in the already stuffed image. Woot! Let me know if there is anything else that needs tweaking, and if it's good to go, I'll start pounding them out!

CameraSave6=Control+J CameraSave7=Control+Shift+J CameraView6=Control+O CameraView7=Control+Shift+O NO, jak it's not. Haha good catch
it SHOULD be:
CameraSave6=Control+O CameraSave7=Control+Shift+O CameraView6=Control+J CameraView7=Control+Shift+J

Edit 2:
It also seems like the cameras and suggested cameras of ZRS is (too me at least) kind of wacky looking. Apparently players with small hands don't take thirds! I know you had said you're playing around with the reference sheet, but it's gonna be difficult for me create anything unless they are accurate!
Also, for you a Question for Protoss and Terran players in general: Zerg obviously has two macro mechanics that are important to know the hotkeys for (Injections and Creep). What would the two best mechanics be to highlight for Protoss and Terran? Currently I'm thinking: Tabbed Production and Ramp / Rally Cams. But I don't know if there is anything more important!

For the rapid fire spine production the spine should be on I and the spore on O.
Create control group 1 could be with the key to build CC/nexus/hatch. That way would easier to remember.
|
Hey guys, thanks for The Core. Very interesting layout and I am about to start using it. I'm not too good yet so hopefully I'll learn the hotkeys as I progress.
However, I just loaded the TRM version and I believe the camera hotkeys are reversed between Shift and Alt set to Store for Shift and Recall for Alt, which I believe is reversed based on all the other documents, excel files and videos.
You may want to check that.

As of this posting , the version on skydrive is still not 1.0. Only github has updated so far.
Edit: It updated recently. Awesome !
Was practicing camera hotkeys exclusively on 0.8.2 and having free cams bound with ctrl + shift (which is normally for control groups) was causing some frustration and my hands/brain to rebel. Notice in the patch notes you may have addressed that, so going to check that out. Had nexus grouped and when I was trying to cycle through cameras and hit I it would cause the nexus to make a probe instead of snapping to camera location. Threw me off rhythm big time.
Added alternated to center on current selection and free cameras so that quickly checking production via camera and going back to the main army can be done quickly and efficiently while holding shift.
Can you go into detail on that? What's different?
Edit2: Just now noticed you moved center and camera bind to shift and camera recall to alt.
Jakatak , I just wanted to say thank you to you and your team for all of your hard work with this. Y'all have the right idea. I was never satisfied with standard keys or grid and it was frustrating for me to play as I was getting fatigued and stressed easily.
I noticed that with SC2 we could customize hotkeys and I fooled around with that for a bit, then discovered the darkgrid layout thread on TL and used that for a bit and that made the game less frustrating to play, and then I found the core. I have to confess that I did not have much motivation to try the core at first, but what attracted me to it was the superior camera hotkey layout and control groups over darkgrid. It's taking a lot of getting used to to have my left hand on the right side of the keyboard, but I am optimistic about the results and positive that after getting used to this I won't want to go back to using darkgrid.
I am interested as well to see what TLO's results are with the core. I'm hoping it will result in less fatigue and much smoother gameplay for him.

I have always had activate pulsar beam (oracle) unbound on the US Qwerty versions since I started TheCore a few weeks ago and social menu is now unbound in the latest version for me.

It has always been the other way round until this version, was that change intentional Jak?
Gonna go back to the previous version for now cos it's screwing with my head!

Hey guys, one quick question, why is cancel now on 7 which leaves + on the TRM German Layout unused?
Edit: And the combination to send idle workers to harvest minerals is now Ctrl+Shift+7 -> Shift+O/P. I find it awkward to press, whats the reasoning behind it?
|
Hello! I'm having a hard time with "Shift" as the center on current selection hotkey. Let's say I want to select 3 SCVs and send them to the gas geyser, Usually i would click on 1st SCV, hold shift, click on 2nd SCV, click on 3rd SCV and without holding shift, click on the gas geyser. But now it's near impossible because the screen jumps everytime i try to select my lovely workers, am I doing something wrong?
I use the latest TRM version, US QWERTY (standard). Thank you in advance!
Another example of that: When I wanted to place 3 barracks I used to press ' -> I+Shift -> 3 clicks, but right now my camera just jumps back to mineral line
Building and then shift queing back to the minerals doesn't work either.

Shift should not be center on current selection. Alt should be center on current selection. Looking at TRM on GitHub, I see:
CameraCenter=Alt,Shift+M
SC2 is telling you that Shift by itself is center on current selection?
|
Oh shit... I think I fucked this up
Alt and Shift should NOT be swapped in their functions. I'm going to go check this now, Sorry!
@Verde The visuals look great, I'll take a look at the document and see what you mean about the cameras. TheArchives should be up to date unless I have made a mistake somewhere.
EDIT: All seems fine for the github files, I'll reupload to skydrive.
Also, it seems I haven't fixed the oracle issue. Something weird is going on.
EDIT2: the alt/shift and oracle issues should be fixed now. Please redownload if you were having these issues.
EDIT3: Visualizer should be updated. Just a couple videos, pictures, and spreadsheets to go
EDIT4: @Verde Just take the bases in a row for versions with less than 6 centered cams. It just doesn't work in the spreadsheet is all. Do you know what I mean?
|
I've downloaded the fixed version and it seems fine, thank you :D

Morph to Ultralisk and Social Menu are unbound in PRM now
It seems to be this way in the visualizer as well 0_o
|
The Beedebdoo- Comes up with idea, refers to JaK.
- Initial test results are positive, JaK approves.
- Released to official files, the idea flops.. completely.
@Center on Current Selection on Shift+M (right handed medium) Looks like I made a great oversight when suggesting this, of course it can't be there. I suggest that we get rid of the alternative completely, or remap it to either Shift+0 or Shift+[, removing an alternative for cam 7 or 8 in the process. Personally, I would like to see it remapped, as I still think it has potential, besides, a ctrl recall for rally cam should be better in most circumstances.

Hi,
one question: why dont the protoss and terran layouts use o and i for the build menus. It seems so comfortable in the zerg layout.
Bye,
Chris
