Btw guys how hard would it be for you to implement usage of the windows and fn buttons, i feel like removing them is indeed a good initial plan, but it also feels like a waste of 2 excellent buttons to me.. i'm sure they could be used for other purposes,i 'm about to experiment binding shift and browse subgroups to each one.
Any master/gm terran using the Core actually posts here? im really curious as to how they are actually using their CGS.
I do the exact same thing when building refineries, and yes, I accidentally halt my SCVs when I fail to hit the build basic button correctly. Its frustrating and it happens too often, but I think the solution lies with changing my habits. E.g. small boxes or single clicking my SCVs when I want to build a refinery. i do this pretty often as well. very frustrating.

@Borskey I'm using TRL that's correct.

I have discovered a terrible conflict.
Halt construction conflicts with TLab. ._.

Hi, yesterday I tried for long time playing SC2 (WoL). I downloded last 0.7.1 version of The Core. My friend has HoTS, and we tried spawning. I never played as Terran and yesterday I had to, because of Blizz :D, but it was funny played as T (I normally play P race). So I changed the version of The Core from my oldest (0.6) to 0.7.1 and it was completely disaster. Many keys were changed, and I was NOOB^2 :D I have to look on it again, but... 0.6 was better for me (I think).

@Anty For all versions!@?? that would be terrible for sure, we may have to change it.
@reptilian Whenever a player changes their hotkey layout (even from 0.6 to 0.7) they will suck again for a short period of time. This has nothing to do with what is better or worse for that player. It is a natural side effect of change itself. I would be careful not to jump to conclusions based on a very small sample size and give it a good 2 weeks of daily play before I start considering drawing conclusions.

Somehow holding down shift still adds to a command group as it has always done?? If that is the case, something is probably wrong with your hotkey file. I can't really help you though, as I don't use the same kind of keyboard you use. Anyways, if you're Zerg, the best way to be adding units to control groups is egg hotkeying. You shouldn't be making boxes to add units to control groups except for Queens, Overseers, or if you're splitting off a small group for harass. Egg hotkeying works like this in TheCore: Lets say I'm making roaches, hydralisks, and zerglings. I want my lings to be on ; and my roaches and hydras to both be on L. I use the US ZRM layout. Here's what I do: Press P (selects hatches) press O (selects larvae) Press K, press H (Makes roaches and hydralisks) Hold ctrl, click on one of the egg wireframes (this selects all the currently morphing roaches and hydralisks) Press L, let go of ctrl (this adds them to my L control group) press P (selects hatcheries for me) press O (selects larvae) Hold J (makes zerglings) Hold ctrl, click on egg wireframe, press ;. Show nested quote +This works fine, except if you are making a box around the units to add and that box starts over one of your buildings, in which case the building will be added to the selection I could be wrong about this, but I was under the impression that if you make a box around units AND a building, it only selects the units. Are you sure this is an issue you are having? Show nested quote +or if your box starts over a unit, in which case all units of that type within the screen will be added to the selection (property of Ctrl). In this case, you should make the box first and press ctrl+whatever after you've got the units you want selected. (but again, if you're zerg you should use egg hotkeying 99% of the time).
It doenst matter which keyboard you use. both my hotkey file and keyboard are fine.
I can make a new group just fine, say Ctrl + Shift + Backspace (one of the groups)
I can recall it just fine.
The problem arises when I wish to add a single unit to the group or a handful using box technique.
Could someone please describe very step by step how they do this. Either I'm doing it wrong or the hotkeys have some severe limitations.
Thanks :-)

@Daewon
1. Box the units 2. Press Ctrl+ Backspace(or another CG)
I fixed the conflict between halt and the add-on by pushing halt out. Unfortunately I can't upload to the skydrive because I have 0-1 MBps upload right now.... I fucking hate comcast.
EDIT: it is however in the github if you want it now

Thanks Jaka, that worked! I can now add units using a box or single clicking them without it messing up. I can't believe how inefficient my previous technique has been - unreal.
Any way to deselect units from an active selection/group using the 'box' technique? Not sure if it's possible, currently I can only deselect units clicking on them holding down shift.
So far so good!

Okay, TheCore 0.7.1.2 is now ready, download from the skydrive or from github. Just an update to the halt command and 2 campaign keys (very obscure).
@Daewon For removing from CGs:
1. Select CG you want to remove a unit from 2. Shift click that unit 3. Ctrl+Shift+(CG button)
or if removing a whole category of units, like all medivacs or all stalkers
1. Select CG 2. Ctrl+Shift click unit type 3. Press CG button (while still holding Ctrl+Shift)

I think worst think of it was, that I had to use it on another race which I normaly don't play. But, what was surprice for me was changed chat HK from ENTER to TAB.. basic menu, etc. I'll try it on P race and I'll see if it's benefit for me or not And.. that huge changes was on some datasheet (as previous CORE version) of using HKs?

What version were you using before? TheCore has been and still is in beta, so of course there will be changes. You can look through the GitHub history to find an old version if you want an old version.

EDIT: Whaaaaat? Redownloaded it and apparently now it's N as far as I can see from searching in notepad...

@Anty That is correct. In order to avoid halting construction on a barracks when holding the key to build the add on asap, halt has been moved to N for TRM versions (and the equivalents for other versions.)

I would have figured that you would've done this last year or something. I haven't had a problem this big since playing on Standard.

@Anty hahahaha! It slipped through the cracks, but we found it.
