Just played about 20 games using the alpha, and I just got bumped up to level 20 platinum! Not too bad for only playing a month or two. And now that I'm used to hotkeying every egg, I find I don't even need the rally cam any more, so I just use the two free cams for creep spread.

- control group 0 is currently unnasigned, where is it supposed to be ? - there is currently no PRS in reference spreadsheet, is it TBD ?

Is that intentional? (for example build advanced is / on the main page and I on the zerg 1.0 page). The zerg 1.0 is the updated version. The main page is really a copy/paste from the 1.0 page of each race. @ShaolinZorg: PRS is the small version of PRM, so just look at PRM and move one key to the right on the keyboard. And there is no CG 0 in starcraft, it goes from 1 to 10. You can find out about the 1.0 layout here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AtFSjIb2ibJTdDJUT19PTmR1TVhhTklQWm5aVFl3YUE#gid=13

That was not my point; the issue is : On small layout keyboard protoss, alpha 1.0 The control group 10 ( which referred to as "controlgroupassign0" inthe hotkey file) has no key assigned to it.

It is because the small layout has fewer keys available, so there is only room for 9 CGs instead of 10

ok then a suggestion to fix this : - non french keyboard : put advanced building key on the same key as "cancel" (they never conflict), the freed key ('/') can now be used for CG10 ( and it is more convenient to use than '/' for building IMHO) - on french keyboard, you have one extra key 'µ' on which you can bound it

My bad, I understand now. Left arrow is another alternative you can consider.

You should test those types of things before you suggest them. They are on the same command card and very likely conflict.

I am using it since 1 week and it works perfectly, notice that i am on a french keyboard and my cancel key is on extra key 'µ' but I don't see why this would not work on other keyboard ..

EDIT: Woah. I didn't realize that the cancels on the probe are after build advanced. Actually, we've been classifying cancel as a global button this whole time and it is not! We might be able to make more optimizations with cancel and the keys it affects. Going to look into this asap.

no conflicts , they are functionally independants

I post this here because, in addition to being a comfortable (and efficient) keyboard to use, it looks as if all of the ideas from theCore can be implemented into this keyboard without having to remove keys or use the opposite side of this keyboard. The power from it is also present in the ability to program key location (up to 9 layers) onto the hardware, so the fact that the shift and control keys cannot be programmed in-game is irrelevant.

Yea, that keyboard looks excellent, and I would definitely be interested in designing a layout for it. Does using the 9 layers break the ToS for blizzard? @everyone So, cancel is on almost every building, but only a few units. Any ideas about how we can use this information to improve TheCore?

the first obvious improvement was to move "advanced building" from "/" to the cancel key (more accessible IMHO) and for small keyboard, that frees a key for CG 10

As far as I know, the two things you want to avoid are macros (one key doing the function of multiple other keys) and software remaps (since most tournaments won't let you do them). Since everything on the ErgoDox is on the hardware and 1-1 key functionality, I don't think anything would be wrong. To answer your question directly, regardless if it's against the rules, I don't think it would be beneficial to make use of multiple layers with an implementation of theCore. Any layer switcher key would most naturally belong to the thumb, and I think it would be best to keep the thumb dedicated to shift and control.

Can we not give the thumb shift, control, and layer keys?
