I've been working to get TheCoreLite updated. The .SC2Hotkeys files could be found here: https://github.com/bobo38/TheCoreLite
The command card as been updated to support multiplayer (LoTV, HoTS and WoL), the campaign and most of the Coop commanders. It has multi-language keyboard support.
There are 3 versions of TheCore Lite: – "TheCore Lite" (command card only) – "TheCore Lite Rehab" (command card + some UI hotkeys enhancement: camera rotation, select all army move to Ctl+Tab and Ctl+Shift+Tab, control cameras) – "TheCore Lite Plus" (same as "TheCore Lite Rehab" + some macro group switch)
"TheCore Lite Plus" new macro groups are Z and X to be able to press Shift+Z+X in a raw. Shift+Z moves the camera on the rally point, Shift+X is no longer a camera and select the army production facilities. This tip could also be used for zerg, with some proposed inject methods.
All the info on the github landing page. I tried to summarize all I learnt from TheCore tips on this page.

bobo38 is legit. Been working hard to get Lite updated! Thanks so much!! <3
|
You're welcome JaK ! You could upload the current status to Skydrive
I based my work on top of current TheCore script infrastructure, using the same standards to find conflicts, and derivate all keyboard flavors. At the moment the Github page is a fork of TheCore project.
|
Are TheCore Lite Plus' bindings available somewhere in a structured form, like in a spreadsheet for easy reference?
The main TheCore spreadsheet doesn't have that, and TheCore Archive spreadsheet mentioned on bobo38's github page doesn't have that too.

|
Wait, what. Lite Plus?
So there are 3 versions:
TheCore TheCore Lite TheCore Plus
While we could do TheCore Lite Plus, it's not currently a plan.
Overall this project is lowest on my list so it gets less frequent attention. bob38 is all over it though and has been helping a ton! <3

@chemkid, bitte schön ! If you have some comments or feedback, please share…
@rizzin, I didn't try to put it in spreadsheets… There are 1456 commands at the moment (239 in the legacy version from JaK). This would be a big bunch of redundant info to match into different formats (ideally it should be automated). If I had produced some spreadsheet, I would have mimicked TheCore Archive, so that one could look at differences. What would be your ideal format ? Edit: OK, you seem to be looking after a picture for UI hotkeys over general principle of group/camera/commands placement, aren't you ?
The [Commands] section is the same for all variants (only [Hotkeys] section differs). I tried to keep "commands" as close as possible to legacy TheCore Lite, and taking into account all referenced campaigns/coop commands, and provide it for TheCore supported keyboard layouts.
About the [Hotkeys] section: – TheCore Lite is pretty close to legacy TheCore Lite from JaK – TheCore LiteRehab modifies the [Hotkeys] section to add more functionalities and remapped "overmissused" keys – TheCore LitePlus has more or less same [Hotkeys] section as TheCore LiteRehab with macro groups moved to Z and X (QWERTY keyboard) and some attempt of support for cloning with Shift+Alt
Details could be read here: https://github.com/bobo38/TheCoreLite/blob/master/README.md Edit: sure a picture would be fine :D

@bobo38 yeah, I've read the github page, and it is quite detailed in describing the differences in a list. Unfortunately, this representation is good for a person familiar with the previous version of hotkeys, but not very convenient for someone completely new to this stuff.
I've found that the original TheCore's visualiser has bindings for TheCoreLite included, so I'm using that plus the github's readme. So far so good!
Thank you both for your work on these bindings!

Thanks, that's awesome! Much better than the solution I've been using.
|
@rizzin, you're welcome, if you noticed some inconsistencies, please speak up – Are you new to TheCore Lite ? – Are you playing zerg ? Any feedback/enhancement ideas about zerg typical macro would be interesting (I'm too bad at regular inject to play zerg spreading creep is even more difficult for me…)
|
I've played some WoL, was Zerg too, but used the default hotkeys. So I'm new to anything except for the default layout
I don't have time to play a lot, and so far I'm just training in singleplayer mode to get used to the bindings. If I have some ideas for improvements for Zerg, I'll definitely either post them here, or make a pull request on the github page.

Learning TheCore Lite is really quick, as it is such better than default as per group/camera placement
I switched to it last year in 3 days (previously using default). I played 1v1 against AI using TheStairCase (there is another thread on this forum) for Terran and Protoss up to Elite AI. I got trouble with the Zerg, due to inject/creep mechanics and zergling being too weak. TheCore Lite have basic similar for all races (depot=pylon, extractor=assimilator=raffinery, marine=zealot=zergling etc…) that are really convenient in case of race switch (same as TheCore).
Have fun

After alignment with JaKaTaK, I updated the repo to have only one TheCore Lite hotkey set. We kept the one with Z and X macro groups.
https://github.com/bobo38/TheCoreLite
– the README.md is being more readable – the command card .pdf file got updated with some details about colours and macro groups
Cheers

TheCore Lite has been updated for patch 3.8 on Github
https://github.com/bobo38/TheCoreLite
Other changes since October: – inhibition of queuing of Shift+Alt+RightClick (Shift+Alt kept hold for cloning, you now only left/right click for deselect/smartcommand) – Shift+Alt+#group now "create non-steal" (for group cloning and caster group) – more alternates for "add to cc/hatch/nexus group", with Alt+X used as center on selection – some tests with Ctrl cameras (no reallly efficient solution found)

What home keys are you using with this updated version of TheCore Lite? I play protoss and typically rest my fingers on my production control groups. However, with this being moved down to Z and X it feels like it is always a reach to make units. Am I missing something?
|
You're not… new macro keys are Z and X, to benefit from Shift+Z+X row key press, used for select production facility jump to rally point.
I tend to prefer to have to move slightly my fingers between macro/micro to prevent static positions that are bad on the long run. With Z and X (and Shift), you're kind of forced to move your fingers one row below and perform the macro cycle in a sequence.
If you feel uncomfortable with them, please feel free to remap: as long as you stay with TheCore Lite key groups, you could reuse the [Commands] section in the .SC2Hotkeys file. What would be your ideal macro group keys QW or AS ?
|
I think ideal for me would be QW with my fingers resting on Shift + QWD + Space. D would probably be ideal for me for build probe then.
The biggest challenge for me with ZX is that you have to move up with your fingers to produce units where moving down is just curling your fingers which feels faster and a bit more natural.
|
Q and W were the macro keys in the original TheCore Lite. I discovered it later
I'm used to ASDF JKL; home keys for typing with 2 hands… But Shift Q W and D look like reasonable rest keys. Even Shift+Q+W is not so difficult to press simultaneously. I will make some tests and consider make TheCore Lite back to QW.

Let me know if there is something I can assist with.
