My autocast conflict detector is blinking when I look at Chameleon Solutions: 1) make "~" key responsible for autocast abilities (charge, heal, unburrow, interceptor) 2) replace "Z" with "C" as layered camera and make Z autocast abilites key I'm using second option and its works perfectly.
Small suggestion: 1) Make F+ shift and D+shift as free cameras (set with alt). F could be ramp camera and D could be main army rally point camera. 2) Main army key should be R instead of G, simply because its more natural and convenient to press. 3) I don't see a reason why Burrow/Unburrow are on different keys. Same with lower/raise depots and lifting buildings.

Small suggestions: 1) if you make the free cams Shift+D and Shift+F what are you using to add to CG D and F? Are you just remaking the CG's from scratch using Ctrl+D and Ctrl+F? This may cause an issue if you are using these CG's as suggested (for zerg, Queens and upgrade buildings for D and Hatcheries for F) where you may "lose" a unit or building from those CG's.

Shift + ctrl when making a CG, ctrl when adding to existing CG. I forgot to add that I'm using changed modifiers.

I am wondering this, too. Before I tried it, I figured it must allow you to control both burrow and unburrow when you have a mix of burrowed and unburrowed roaches on a hotkey (like after some burrow micro), but that wasn't the case when I played the campaign. I could still only do one or the other. Which means after burrow microing a few roaches, if I want to pop those few back up I have to burrow everything then unburrow. I guess this is a limitation of the game engine.
If this is the case, then I guess they are on different keys to avoid a repetitive key stroke from the required (extraneous) burrow -> unburrow sequence. However X and S are both on ring finger, so it's still not "pianoing" the key sequence.
I think properly dealing with this would require two ability keys that are horizontal to each other (on separate fingers), that don't conflict with *any* burrowable unit abilities. Off the top of my head, workers and the units with 3 abilities are going to make this difficult. Thankfully larva can't burrow.

I think that using the same modifers as TheCore will be good. Its not too bad if we move the CGs back to the way they were.

Are you sure? Have you tried cycling through the unit selection? (Default tab - I personally use TheCore so I'm not sure what it is with this layout). You should be able to cycle through one and press the unburrow hotkey, unburrowing the burrowed roaches with no issue.

Wow,
Huge props to ThyLastPenguin helping out and creating discussion in the Chameleon thread even though s/he uses TheCore.
On the matter of burrow, you can do some fancy roach burrow micro tricks if burrow is on different keys, you can't however do this with supply depots, so I will fix that in the next patch.

Just tested it, you can cycle through it whilst roaches are burrowed. Try it now. If you have any issues then I'm not sure what. I can record it if necessary xD

I'm wondering what are the benefits to changing the modifiers from default Assign = Ctrl, Append = Shift to Assign = Ctrl+Shift and Append = Ctrl? It must have been discussed somewhere, but I can't find it.
Append (Add) must be used far more often than Assign (Create). And Shift + CG is more comfortable than Ctrl + CG. Also, Ctrl + Shift + furthest CG keys is a stretch. Does freeing up Shift have something to do with it?

Jak: is this about to get a major update? If so, I may wait to learn :p I am very excited to start this weekend

Just tested it and it does create subgroups that separate burrowed and unburrowed. I didn't notice during the campaign. Might be confusing with multiple types of burrowable units on the same hotkey, but if it's just one (like only roaches) then that is a good option. Thanks!

@tili Jump in right away. I don't know when I'll be updating this, as TheCore is a far superior layout IMO.
EDIT: This is one of the reasons I want to move to TheCore modifier setup:

Hello! This layout looks very interesting. I looked at TheCore, but using that layout with a laptop is going to be bothersome.
If I may make one request, is it possible to attach an image chart to this thread (TheCore has a chart displaying which fingers hit which keys)? I feel like that would reduce my learning curve time greatly.
Thanks!

Apples and oranges, my dear JaKaTaK TheCore is for super tryhards, who want to sacrifice habits and interchangeability of methods of using a keyboard for a minor advantages.
Chameleon is for those, who also play other games

Does freeing up Shift have something to do with it? With TheCore, the benefits of switching Ctrl+key and Shift+key's functions are absolute, but they're not for Chameleon because of the reasons you gave. Though I don't know fully about the subject, I know that one of the biggest advantages it gives is allowing you to press Ctrl+unit Ctrl+group. You could add all the marines that have been recently made to a group in 3 presses.

@Czar I use TheCore for all computer games I play, its really easy to do.

Not for laptop users :D I absolutely appreciate having this, as I love the flexibility of laptop gaming.

I agree Czarnodiej.
Though I gave TheCore a chance for probably 20-30 games I just could not get used to it and saw little improvement. I have been using wasd to play games for ~ 15 years and shifting to using my thumb as the main source of modifiers was too difficult, among other things. I appreciate The Chameleon setup and I think it works great.
