i want to play some terran in this season, which build in each matchup do you suggest? my mainacc is master Zerg, my Terran was Diamond somes seasons ago, now i guess its plat-diamond, but i will play high diamond low master cause i played some games with zerg on my smurf^^

i think i go with reactor hellion expand in TvZ, it may not be the best eco build, but i go with it till i find myself comfortable with T

but what to do in TvT and TvP?

i thought about 1rax expand in TvP (http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/1_Rax_FE_%28vs._Protoss%29): when do i add my cc? just when i have 400mins?


and for hotkeys: 1-3 army, 4 production, 5 ccs, 6-7 stuff is ok i guess?

I only started today so my post will not be of any use, but i have to contribute something. Agains protoss i stack marauders and rush like hell, which actually works pretty well. Also i use hotkeys 1 - 8. But i am probably doing it wrong. Anyway, hi everyone :D

By the way, where can i find someone who will watch my replay and will give me advice.

Read all the sticky'ed threads about forum guidelines, and adhere to them. Then, create your own thread, or use this one here. If it's general knowledge you want, this is a great thread. If you want a more precise, overall look -- make your own thread. Just make sure you do so properly, and follow the rules and I know for a fact you will get help. People go out of their way to help a well structured OP of a thread asking for help, with no anger or bias.

Hi. Im a silver terran and im still pretty new to starcraft. I understand that macro is the most important thing and I focus on it but I dont know what opening I should do. I dont really have a clue on what build I should be doing or how to do them. If someone could help me I would appreciate it.

Honestly I recommend naked 2rax for every matchup. It teaches you to macro while controlling an army and can give you some easy wins. build order is as follows:

12 rax
14 rax
CC when you have the money
As always never stop building SCVs and marines and push out when you have 4ish marines or less.

As a terran who prefers to 1rax expand against toss and terran, and reactor hellion against zerg, what build should I use against random? Usually it's too difficult to scout early enough to figure out whether to gasless expand or reactor hellion, so what would be a good build to use in this situation?

1 rax expand; then if you scout he's Zerg, dual gas, Factory as soon as possible and go for delayed hellions (with Reactor on Barracks, swap, etc., just like the usual Reactor Hellion expand stuff).

Well I came here because I need help against protoss race

Today I was all-ined. I must admit that I do not fear a macro game against protoss, I fear more their all-ins, because they can throw at you so many

Anyway I opened 1 rax fe into three rax.

Not much to be said, I just needed one more bunker and I would have been fine. Am I wrong?

The problem anyway is another

Now question: Protoss can throw you a lot of variations for their allin , and this time it was immortals. But how do I know it? It seems to me that I must play in the dark.

For example, it could have been dt expand, warp prism 4 gate robo, void ray all in, blink allin, how do I identify what is protoss throwing at me? Do I just blindly counter everything?
But blindly countering everything seems to be impossible. For example, while you can beat three gate rays with pure marine, you cannot beat blink stalkers unless you got marauders with concussive shells

On this game I took two gas but didn't use them on this game, because I didn't know what was going on. I felt weird, because actually I don't know how to scout a protoss correctly
(or at least I was able to when I was on diamond league, because people are not so creative... I get people getting two gas but not using one, people making nexus and then destroying it to 4 gate all-in, and so on...)

If you scout more often, you can see their unit composition and that gives you a good clue at what they're going. AKA lots of sentries can't mean dark templars, lots of stalkers = blink stalkers, etc.

Hey, im sort of echoing Sergio1992 ^^ comments, i just got all ind 5 games inna row by protoss while going for the regular 1 rax FE. (im mid/high masters on NA btw). And as stated before me, toss can do an insane amount of all ins to you while going for 1 rax fe. Its insane because you prepare for all the all ins except ONE, and you lose, like i see sentries/immortals and no natural, so i make 4 bunkers, and think il be safe, but they turn it into a WP drop, and FF my ramp. How the hell am i supposed to know theres a WP drop coming, if i prepare for that on top of everything else, im spread way to thin a bust at my front will kill me. So my question is, since 90% when i 1 rax FE, i get allind and die, and if i get to the late late game like 30 mins i lose anways, what the hell am i supposed to do?

Am i really supposed to all in off 1 base everygame? am i supposed to 2 rax pressure open every game? which dies to dts most of the time, or voids, or even 4gates. Im seriously lost as hell Tvp is my worst MU, and i feel like im losing 80% of my games vs toss. I just cant find a good safe opening, they all die so easily to w/e a Toss wants to do, and good scouting doesn cut it when you can proxy as DT shrine, or voids, etc. Im thinking of opening cloack banshees or something, and expanding after? is that really viable? i feel good mid game, i know how to pressure, drop if i need to, micro my units well enough, i just cant get passed the 10 mins mark anymore without being all ind, and then il lose to the deathball at the 30 min mark.

ok yeah im complaining, but i need a good opening vs toss that wont die to all ins, and can get me to the midgame. sorry for the rant, but 5 losses inna row to dt's/dt drops/immortal-sentrie pushes/proxy voids/ and straight up 4 gates, its pissing me off.

Hey, guys. I'm currently working on developing my TvT and I need a nice solid cloaked banshee opener. I'm looking for an opener that can transition well into either a 1 base siege push, or an expansion and a solid midgame (so, basically like the build that pro Terran players use all the time.) Does anyone have a VOD of a Terran player going for this type of a build? Thanks!

I kind of know why I lost, as if I had put down my 3 barracks sooner I would have had more marines out to fight, but still I was demolished, so I am not convinced that an extra 4 marines would have helped. I suppose I could have built a bunker somewhere in my main? But then the reapers could have simply gone for my rax, and that wouldn't have worked. This has happened to me fairly often, and could someone please give me some advice on dealing with this? Some help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Yes, my mouse did die by the end of the game, but by then I had already lost so it had absolutely no bearing on the rest of the game.

i play 2 different builds in TvZ with Mech. The first one is the No Gas FE -> 2 Fac BF Hellion+ 2 Armory into fast 3rd from MKP and the second one is no gas fe -> reactor hellion FE+Cloak Banshee.

What should i prefer and on which maps? I mean should i take the risk to just kill him with my 10 BF Hellion attack and even it not i have 6 factories pumping double upgraded mech units. Or should i go and use the cloak banshee to maybe do some eco damage (force spores and pick some drones/queens) and deny him his 3rd until he have overseer/mutas? But i don't have the gas to go so fast double upgrades.

I dont know what is more worth it. What should i prefer and on what maps?

How do i counter the 3 Reaper rush in TvT?
My standard opening is 1 reaper into 1-1-1 with an expansion.
Maybe a bunker with my reaper, marines and geting a hellion before tanks?

And another question, if i see he opens 1 reaper aswell... should i stay defensive with my reaper to kill his before i move out?

You could make a habit of trying to prevent proxy pylons by killing the probe and the possible other probe that follows it, but other than that I have no idea what could help you.

Heres my question - its TvT
How do I defend against a thor rush with a hellion viking opener? If I scout it early enough sure, Ill hide the fact that I know it and sneak in a couple marauders, but if I dont scout it and think hes bansheeing me with the double gas...is it possible to hold it off with just landed vikings and hellions? Snipe the scvs early on with the hellions, prevent medevac play, mass repair viking?
