Okay thats why they make banelings... my micro is decent but i still lose a shit ton of rines to banelings...

Do not focus too much on splitting your marines against banelings. Instead, when the Zerg army is incoming, stim your marines and run them back. Then select your tanks and spam rightclick on the banes. Since almost every Zerg clumps up their banelings, this allows you to take out a lot of them before they close the distance. You will most likely lose your tanks to ling/muta, but your marines (&medivacs) should survive to clean up.
Other than that, the usual tips apply: Don't get caught unsieged, bunnyhop siege tanks while advancing, scan to take out creep tumors and try to engage off creep if possible.

this might sound stupid but is there a diffrence between focus firing banes with rightclick and aclick?

Assuming you don't misclick, there is no difference. If you hit open ground, rightclick will move command and aclick will attack-move.

What is the best way to engage carriers? How important is target-firing? Are Vikings the best counter?

Yep vikings are probably the best counter. You want to kite the carriers with the longer range of the vikings to minimize damage and kite back from any ground army the protoss has.
Mass stimmed 3/3 marines are also quite good vs carriers in that they can prtty much instantly kill all the interceptors. However they are owned by storm or collosus, so usually vikings are the better choice.
|
3/3 Marines decimate carriers. I would even go as far as saying they are more cost efficient, given open Terrain.
|
Vikings require more micro, because u have to target fire the carriers, otherwise vikings waste shots on interceptors. Probably a mix of vikings and marines are best.

I'm a zerg player that's decided to try playing Terran since I'm tired of having to play completely reactionary and having unmicroable units, and be able to have more aggressive play be viable.
That being said, what are good openers and strategies for each matchup? Liquipedia is a bit oudated in this regard. From watching high level games, 1 rax expand seems good for TvP and reactor hellion is good for TvZ, but i have no idea what's good in TvT (as the matchup is really dynamic and i've seen a large variety of ways to open, not sure which is the best to start with).

Usually a 1/1/1 with cloaked banshee or fast tank. There's been a lot of gasless expands or reaper (1-3 reapers) expands that are popular. I prefer the reaper one, map control, good Econ but less marines and less tech than someone who goes no gas fast expand

What is a good time to start Stim research? Sometimes I feel like I start too early or late.

Hey guys!
I try to find solid openings vs all races and have decided to do Reactor Hellion Expand vs zerg and 1 rax no gas fe into 4 rax vs protoss. But I am kinda lost vs terran because there are so many different 1rax FE builds (into 1-1-1, into 3rax, into ...). Any recommendations for a safe FE without having to focus on micro too much in the beginning?
Thanks

If you want a sick all in check out Specialist's TvP Build. It consists of a 3 hellion 2 marine drop followed up by a hellion/cloackshee/raven/marine/scv all in. It's a pretty powerful 1-1-1 and with good scouting you can stop most Protoss 1 bases also. I could post replays or you could check out his thread where he has replays of him doing it 100x better :p. But yea, this build pretty much boosted me into masters alone.

Hate to break it to you but most FE builds are going to require a decent amount of micro if you get pressured. Whether it be defending banshees or breaking a siege, if you FE in TvT you will be susceptible to pressure and you will have to micro in order to stop it. 1 rax FE followed by 2 gases into Factory is decently safe imo. Especially on maps like Antiga where you can position tanks really efficiently. FE into 3 rax IMO requires a bit more micro, unless you have great map awareness and can catch early aggression before it gets to your natural.
To be honest the safest build IMO is a standard 1-1-1 opening and get a raven as well as a few tanks and then expand behind a poke. You can sometimes win right off the bat.

ThorZain's TvT helped me a lot. It's a 1rax FE into 3 rax heavy marine (1 tech, 2 reactor) with upgrades and fast medivacs. It's on Day9 394.
I'm not exactly sure what you mean by not having to focus on micro too much, but with the build you have to be careful with cloakshee openers (save scan, have a turret in each mineral line) and tank openings (keep control of the middle of the map, don't let him contain you).
On the other hand, a defensive 1/1/1 is probably the safest TvT opening, and you can expand relatively quickly behind it. Try 1/1/1 cloakshee opening. You can always switch to raven/viking instead if you scout the other T going for cloakshees and come out way ahead.
|
Ok, thanks guys. Will try 1-1-1 into expand. Which one is "the right" bo for cloak banshee opening? Do you have a link cause there are many different build orders at Liquipedia. The first one here? http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/Banshee_Opening
edit: Oh, and with less micro i mean not rely on only a few units aka very greedy opening. Ofc there is always a lot of micro to do in early game TvT.
|
How do you drop units from a medivac at different places as opposed to to just one position. Do you just shift d-click in a line? I see pros do it a lot and im just wondering how its done.
