Can anyone give me a step by step for manual marine splitting? I just switched to terran and I can't even get past lvl 10 of the marine split challenge, do you select them and just randomly move command them somewhere or do you have to shift queue an attack move after the move command?

I open 2rax in tvp, but am not quite sure what the proper response is if the protoss opens 3gate expand, or even 1gate expo into 3 gate. His army is usually strong enough to beat my two rax and then he already has an expo over me. Do I expand as soon as I know what he's doing, tech up, or both?

If zerg has 0/0 or 0/1 at 10 minutes and few to no roaches, should I prepare my butt for mass mutas or is there something else funky he can do?

He is taking a really greedy third with ling/bling/muta coming at you to stay secure. Mutas cost a lot of gas and so do the amount of banelings it requires to kill a marine tank medivac push. Expect quicker infestor brood if they secure their base earlier.

It's essential to see it coming. Move your marines out on the map and attack into his army with an as big of a concave as possible. Usually if they do such a push and I catch them in the middle of the map I crush it. If they manage to siege up at your natural then pull scvs and pray IMO. But that is the only moment I've lost against it so I am not completely sure.

In TvZ I think that the 11/11 2 rax 3 bunker rush is very strong on maps like Shak, Cloud King where you can do this rush. You're basically guaranteed a free hatchery if you can start all the bunkers. From there I personally prefer a transition into marine/tank just because you've already invested into 2 rax, but a mech transition should work fine too if you take down his hatchery-- he'll very weak. If you want to go for full mech, I think opening with a reactor hellion FE would probably transition more smoothly since you'll be getting hellions anyways.

Hi guys, could someone please analyse this replay for me? It's a TvP with a combo of quick VR's and Stalkers and I was left wondering how to scout this properly and what the right method of countering this composition was, I couldn't find a balance with enough marines for the VR's and enough Marauders for the stalkers. They had high ground vision as well, it was a very nasty play to fight against.

Step 1) Select all marines
Step 2) When banelings are spotted, stim and move in opposite direction
Step 3) Split 3 even chunks in 3 directions away from the banelings, leave 1-2 marines unselected to take the first baneling hit
Step 4) Continously split the chunks into smaller chunks in directions away from other marines.

Search Youtube for marinesplit tutorials if you still have problems reaching at least level 20.

In the marine split challenge map, select small portions and move command them into different directions. In real situations there will be times when you can select all your marines and a-move to make sure that the ones out of reach of the banelings are allowed to attack, and then resume splitting the ones closest to the banelings.

I just box smaller groups of marines and then send them to a location away from the others with a right-click. I think anything more complicated is just making things more difficult in most situations.

The challenge is just being fast enough to split them in time. Once you get faster, you can start boxing fewer marines at a time.

Stim your marines and run in the opposite direction then splitting off small groups of marines in different directions on move command.

In real matches hotkey your tanks and marines on separate groups and focus fire banes with tanks as it makes it so much easier.

Search for marine tank challenge in custom games and try that instead of marine split challenge.

Don't feel bad. I split really well in games, but in that custom I can only get to like level 16 with manual splits. It's all just box slicing and spreading, really.

You want, in the end, a big concave around where he's rolling with banelings, then you pull back the sections the banelings are going to to continue moving around in an arc/concave.

What the fuck are you supposed to do lategame against zerg? All he has to do is build ling/baneling/muta ->> HURRRRRRRRRR RIGHT CLICK and there is fucking nothing you can do except die

I have marine/tank, I'm splitting marines, I'm focusing tanks on the banelings, but it doesn't matter because he can just make 1000000000000000000 more zerglings for 200 minerals.

Perhaps you aren't putting enough pressure on the Z? Maybe you're not macroing well enough? We'd need a replay to be sure.

Also, it's a very good idea to kill him before Hive tech so he can't get his infestor/broodlord/zergling deathball. Though, it sounds more like you have a macro problem/timing problem.
