Why does this build work?
Keep in mind that I play 4v4 platinum.
4v4 will always have better or weaker players. You need to seek out the weaker player and feed upon him, which is very easy with nuking.
There is a lot of space to control in 4v4, and players can't watch everything. It's even hard in 1v1 middle-late game where a nuke can perhaps be landed. In 4v4 it's almost guaranteed. Never nuke the same player again though, they will be on their toes.
This build yields an okay economy since you never stop producing SCVS, then expand @8min after your first nuke has landed.
Nukes are extremely powerful at the 8min mark since this is a delicate point where, if they have not expanded and get their mineral line nuked, they will be out of the game. You basically killed a player instantly.
I would argue that the reward far outweights the risk, since it's not really a cheesy build, it's a 1base defensive build with a twist. You can save your teammates from everything with your numerous marines during the early game.
Push at 200/200 facerolling everything with marine and tanks
Ghosts takes care of casters and shields, marines with stim are.. good, and tanks punish easily making you able to focus on nuke micro while still being dangerous. Medivacs provide healing and good mobility if you want to play around with stimmed marines.
This is a very fun build, and I have a very high winrate with it. 80%+
It's also good if you want to get to 4v4 masters...
Tips and tricks
Pre-stealth and hold fire on a ghost and load into a medivac, fill rest with marines. See if you can kill a mineral line, if it fails, keep your ghost around and nuke a while later. Very sneaky
A nuke is worth 100 minerals 100 gas. There are many many targets worthy of this expense, even 2 pylons if they power many production facilities. You don't have to nuke mineral lines although it's the best!
