This build is just for fun. Remember that!
Also I play zerg, terran isn't my main race.

BO+ Show Spoiler +

[Important] don't overproduce marines here, you need 150 minerals for Cloak when your Academy finishes

Cloak - yes, your minerals will pile up but your reactor rax will eat them in a second

[Important] save at least 50 energy on your OB here, for there can come banshees or DT's. You are dependant on your teammates to survive. Save a scan for them, if necessary.

Why does this build work?

Keep in mind that I play 4v4 platinum.
4v4 will always have better or weaker players. You need to seek out the weaker player and feed upon him, which is very easy with nuking.
There is a lot of space to control in 4v4, and players can't watch everything. It's even hard in 1v1 middle-late game where a nuke can perhaps be landed. In 4v4 it's almost guaranteed. Never nuke the same player again though, they will be on their toes.
This build yields an okay economy since you never stop producing SCVS, then expand @8min after your first nuke has landed.
Nukes are extremely powerful at the 8min mark since this is a delicate point where, if they have not expanded and get their mineral line nuked, they will be out of the game. You basically killed a player instantly.
I would argue that the reward far outweights the risk, since it's not really a cheesy build, it's a 1base defensive build with a twist. You can save your teammates from everything with your numerous marines during the early game.

Push at 200/200 facerolling everything with marine and tanks
Ghosts takes care of casters and shields, marines with stim are.. good, and tanks punish easily making you able to focus on nuke micro while still being dangerous. Medivacs provide healing and good mobility if you want to play around with stimmed marines.

This is a very fun build, and I have a very high winrate with it. 80%+
It's also good if you want to get to 4v4 masters...

Tips and tricks
Pre-stealth and hold fire on a ghost and load into a medivac, fill rest with marines. See if you can kill a mineral line, if it fails, keep your ghost around and nuke a while later. Very sneaky

A nuke is worth 100 minerals 100 gas. There are many many targets worthy of this expense, even 2 pylons if they power many production facilities. You don't have to nuke mineral lines although it's the best!

which maps is this build better suited for?

On maps where it's easy to wall, you don't die to rushes but you can't get to nuke as easily.

On maps where there's no wall you may die early.....

Very suited on maps where the mineral line can be nuked from a ledge, but almost all the 4v4 maps are constructed this way actually...

You get alot of buildings to wall with fast, it's not an issue unless there comes a 6pool, then you need a bunker. Downvote all maps that isn't of fortress type, ie sand canyon, toxic slums, lava flow

Lol, I've been trying fast ghost/nuke tactics alot recently with success myself, might start using this BO though to make it more streamlined. Definitely worth a try if you want some fun team games.

This pretty much requires your opponents to react poorly... Nobody worth their salt will let their mineral line get nuked unless you pull off some miraculous multiple nuke plus army push to overwhelm their ability to multitask. If you don't know where a nuke is coming from the least you should do is check your line for a red dot and run workers away, or just preemptively run workers.

While maybe Legit in 4v4 plat (which is like gold or silver 1v1), don't expect any success rushing nukes beyond that... It's kind of a gimmick since at most you should only get one guy with it, and even then you rely on them to play badly, which is generally discouraged here because you can't rely on that at higher levels. Also you say it's great for getting to masters, which is a claim you are in no position to make. You're in plat in 4v4 and if you were actually beating better players at 80% you would have been promoted very quickly.

By all means you should do fun stuff like this as a break from more competitive leagues (you can easily bc rush at that level, bc marine scv gogogogo) but if you want to get better everyone will say work on other builds.

I've been messing around with early nukes in team games and they can be quite fun. I have two recent replays where I didn't do the exact build order as posted but still had hits and I'm in masters. I think it will work at any level, but some teams can come back bc your army will be lacking. Though nothing scares the opponent quite like nuclear launch detected.

@Penatronic of course it's gimmicky.. but 4v4 is a cointoss, you are too dependant on your teammates to win, who usually goes something like 6 pool mass ling or mass viking.

And of course it's not a masterful strategy. Good players will kill you for sure

Nukes are suprisingly effective, and if you pull one off you've increased your chances of winning greatly. I've just felt that it's a good strategy.
