I'm thinking...is Viper abduct + Infestor NP a bad spell combo? You can use a colossus or a siege on your side and when NP goes off kill it. | ||

The ladder has a bonus pool when you play ranked that accumulates over time, when you lose and have an active bonus pool the points come out of that compared to losing points. You also get bonus XP for the first game of the day I think, but if you play regularly this is meaningless because you will cap out at the max level for your race(s) quickly. | ||

I had a spine and a spore at every base but over time he simply swarmed me and kept some mines on top of the ramp, stopping my units from reaching a central position. When I reallocated my spines, he simply moved away his mines cause he's faster at doing that, and so got into my mineral line. I should have probably spammed spines, but I tried to solve the problem going muta, which was a bad idea. During all of this more mines streamed into the base, reaching maybe 30-40 mines spread around before I quit. Is there a simple yet effective way to prevent this? | ||

Roaches and mines are both 75/25, but if you're on 2 base, and he is just on one, you'll have a better econ. He'll want to do damage, or you'll get to far ahead. Have map presence with the roaches, but do not force an engagement. If he is just going mines, he'll have to continue to unburrow and burrow them to get closer to your base. Only engage when they are unburrowed, and start having a presence on his side of the map. By the time he gets to your base, he'll already have lost enough that he won't be able to do much damage. A roach will also survive a widow mine hit, so with proper splitting, you should never lose a roach. Roaches are also good against marines, which is most likely to be his supporting unit. And if we want to get really situational with your game, if he is only making widow mines, just wall off with evolution chambers and/or a hatch, and he'll never be able to do damage. | ||

In WoL meta, in pvt toss usually defended drop play without cannons at least until the super late game. Now with the medvac boost are cannons recommended? Should I put 1 in each mineral line as I take my 3rd base? | ||

I had a question on the thermal lance. What's the AoE on it? Like how many units across does it continue to do damage? Does it also have depth? For example, if there is a marine is standing behind another marine, will it also get damaged? | ||

I honestly don't know the exact answer to this, and google didn't come up with much help either. What you might want to try is fire up a testmap with a bunch of marines on one side and a collosus on the other, and simply see who takes damage. What I do know is that the laser doesn't have depth. So if it hits one marine, it can't hit one exactly behind it. But what can happen is, since they tend to bunch up more randomly, it could hit a marine that is almost behind it but exactly crosses the line. I do also believe if the marines are perfectly lined up, it should hit around 7-8. But like I said, you might want to try it yourself ![]() | ||
