Everyone KNOWS that vikings are viable as anti air units. However other then in TvT vikings are not really good on the ground.
I purpose that its not because of their DPS, or their lack of tanking ability. But because of the animation timing. It simply seems like it takes WAY too long for vikings to go from air to ground mode and then back again.
IMO i think viking builds would be much more viable if the ground/air transformation was much faster.
./StepsOffSoapBox That's cool, but probably more suited for Battle net forums than a simple questions and answers strategy forum on what amounts to a fan site with little to no power to make any difference. :p On September 28 2011 00:36 gentix wrote: What is "clipping"? Clipping is referring to clipping damage with spells by recasting them before all the damage has been done, most recently being used to describe the Fungal changes. As an example if I want to keep a unit from escaping I might want to cast Fungal Growth again after 3 seconds instead of 4, which will clip the last second of damage off. Thanks for this answer. Another simple question: Does storm damage get clipped if you cast multiple storms? A maybe not-so-simple question: If yes, Would you ever cast muliple storms on top of eachother
storms don't stack, and only do damage(no lockdown or dispell), so no

I'm trying to take a screenshot in starcraft. I'm using the PrtScr button next to scroll lock to do it. When I paste the image into MS Paint it just shows up as a black screen. Any tips on how to fix this?

When will we be able to have our favorite SC2 teams shown on our profiles and responses? Right now it is only SC1 teams.

This question belongs in Website Feedback, not Sc2 Strategy: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/index.php?show_part=7

When you hit printscreen, it doesn't copy it to the clipboard-- it saves an image in your starcraft 2 folder in my documents in the subfolder called "screenshots"

We are constantly taught that to have effective macro, we must keep our resources low.
Question: Are there any effective and/or common builds that requires the temporary saving of resources (not spending them, opposite of effective macro) for the purpose of achieving the goal of the build?
Thanks!

The first build that comes to mind is the classic 4 Warpgate Rush (and its variants), which banks up resources during the Warpgate research time, then quickly spends them by having an overly-large number of Warpgates (4) on one base.

under what circumstances are hydralisks considered good? in a recent interview, Losira said that hydras were basically ridiculous in given situations. ideally, how would you use them in each matchup?

Hydralisks are considered use-impaired in the current metagame except as panic anti-air defenses.
Against Terran, they synergize poorly with quick zerglings and gas-heavy, quick mutalisks, so they don't see much play. They are also vulnerable to the marine/tank standard composition due to their slow movement.
Against Protoss, they are rather effective against most gateway units, and pretty effective in large numbers against stargate units, but are lacking against good forcefields, storms, or splash damage unis in general-- given that protoss usually gets some combination of these units, hydras aren't used except in specific busts, or perhaps in nydus worm attacks.
Against Zerg, hydralisks are sometimes used to combat mutalisks, but are generally considered sub-par compared to infestors (same as the damage support role for roaches).

Thanks! Also pretty much all Zerg timing attacks. You save up money and larva while getting the tech for unit X, then build a whole ton of X as soon as the tech hits. Classic example is saving up 1000/1000 or so and building ten Mutas instantly as your Spire finishes.
Because increasing production rate for Terran and Protoss requires investing in new infrastructure, it's much rarer to save up for a big flood of units, though as another poster said, the 4 gate is an exception to that.

I don't see a simple question/answer thread in general so I'll ask here. What does the emoticon :S mean. I see it so much and I just don't get it.

Zergs often save up resources before producing a huge weave of mutas (mostly zvt) or hive-tech units. For the other races there are no applications that i can think of. Sometimes you want to save up, say, a bit of gas to start a colossus and range at the same time, but it's not as noticable as with zergs.

I think that might be a question better served by a Google search, but it's used to convey confusion or being unsure.

i don't want eye cancer ^^ My graphic settings aren't going to help you much with your problem, but I use a custom combination of ultra textures and a few other things with 2d portraits, shadows off, no death animations and lowest modelling setting. I can actually run the game at ultra on my system, but I use those settings for aesthetic reasons: especially that I like the way Pylon power looks at low settings and that I like having my units simply disappear instantly when they're dead. Some death animations are distracting, and some (like the Marauder's awesome death animation where they fall apart slowly after being killed by a Zealot) make it difficult to recognize that the unit is dead.
If you're having problems in big engagements, then you should use lower graphics settings. Don't know what else to tell you: just go into the unit tester, set up a 200/200 engagement and adjust the settings until your computer runs smoothly.
A lot of professionals tend to use lower graphics settings from what I see on streams. One reason is probably like mine, that it's just easier to process the information the game is presenting to you if extraneous details are left out. I also have a theory that it's better if you're doing LAN events to be used to playing on low settings in case you play at a tournament where the computers can't run the game at the highest settings.
Low graphic settings on SC2 won't give you eye cancer. The game looks fantastic at every combination of settings I've ever tried. I watch reps on my laptop and have every setting turned to the minimum, and it's still a lovely game.

Hi Guys,
Im a diamond Zerg looking to switch to Terran. My mechanics are quite good and my gamesense and knowledge are ok too.
I was wondering if people could tell me 3 Standard terran builds for TvZ, TvP and TvT. This really helped when I was learning zerg. Thanks

No they don't heal while on move command. If you have them just following your infantry though and not on the same group receiving the move command then they would.
