I have been Rank 1 in my Division for a few months now.

The rank 3 player is around 900 points, rank 2 is 940ish and I have 1400 points. why?

Shouldn't I be promoted already?

If I get a mac, but I already own a windows copy of starcraft 2, do I need to buy a new copy of the game, or can I install windows somehow on the mac to run starcraft 2?

not sure if this is the right place for this since it's a technical issues, but it definitely wasn't enough to make a thread in the tech support area since it only requires a simple answer, so I apologize ahead of time if this isn't the right place for this type of question.

Not really a good place for that question in general (as in it doesn't fit in any of the particular forums --- not that it is a bad question), but not a problem...

You don't need to buy a new copy of starcraft 2 to play on a mac. Simply download the mac client from http://www.battle.net and everything will work just fine. You only need to buy a new copy of sc2 if you want to play on a different realm (e.g., EU or SEA).

How do you disable getting friend requests and private messages? I know it is possible because some players can't be private messaged or friended from the menu (the options are greyed out when you right click their name).

Your division rank or relative points in the division doesn't matter. A good way to gauge is having consistent wins over "slightly favored" and "favored" players and maintaining that pattern over a period of time.

just wondering how range on aoe spells woks. like emp has a range of 10, and a radius of 2. does this mean it has an effective range of 12 in theory? or do you have to place the entire area of the spell with in the range?

What are some effective ways to pressure zerg in PvZ and slow down their macro in the early/mid game assuming that I want to end up with a immortal/sentry/stalker/templar deathball in the end? Im afraid of getting surrounded by speedlings if i walk my army around too much.

Is it better to go Colossus first and then transition to IST?

Get your hands on MC's replays from some PvP games (MLG ones for example). I'm doing his style 4 gate that finishes at 5:50 or even few seconds earlier, depends on your worker pairing and you have 6 stalkers and zealot. It's 11/12 gate and 20/21 workers. You make your pylon at 26/26 after your throw down 3 gates and after that you squeeze 1 more stalker.

Question really don't belong in this tread but ill give you my answer.

There are many ways to pressure zerg. Get early stargate and harass to force hydras and spores. Get DTs to force early lair and spores and possibly kill workers. Make zerg feel the pressure by moving around your army(mabie kill creep tumors), scout the zerg army with observer and use sentries so you wont get flanked. If zerg do 14 hatch or no gas build u can harass with stalkers/zealots untill they get speedlings.
