Hi guys,
As mentioned I am a gold level player who is somewhat struggling with early aggression. I play Terran and have fairly good mechanics/responses to my opponent. However I almost have this fear of early attacking, and am generally unsure when to push out. This is why TvZ is my worse matchup, because he gets ahead and I get creamed 15 minutes in.
So I guess I just need some advice on how to play aggressively early? I normally try and push out when I have +1 and shield or concussive, but he always seems to have a bit more than me and I end up having to pull back.
Is there a mindset or key idea I can use when trying to play aggressive? I feel this is one portion of my play that is severely limiting me. I choose an idea and have a solid plan for what I want to do in the game, but fail to put my opponent off or at least show my presence.
What can I do to work around this and improve my game?
Thanks

2 rax > expand?? Not hard :D

When I play terran (i'm zerg) i usually go 3rax push with STIM!! and push as sonn as it finishes. Macro hard while you attack, it's really the most important thing to do in this attack, 'cause you will deal damage for sure, so don't forget about your macro!!

watch your replays and first see how much time your infrastructure is idle, if your orbital command and barracks spend more than 10% of the time not producing then this is most likely to be the primary cause of your aggression failing. If this is not the problem then perhaps you need to study the structure of how early terran tech works versus the other races early tech

Thanks for the advice guys, I'll watch some of my replays and nitpick my macro a bit. I'll also experiment with the 2rax aggression into expand. Watched a few videos and replays tonight of it.
Thanks

fairly good mechanics/responses to my opponent
Well, a replay or two would help us in determining if that is true Or in other words: it's easier to give advice on gameplay when we can see you actually play.

This I used to do this a lot when I was a gold player and didn't know many strategies, have about 50 pop by the 7 min mark and push them.
Because of doing that a lot I'm now a fairly aggressive player in general.

Hi Green, sure, I've included a replay below for you.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/14675730/TvT Mid Game Mechanic Fail.SC2Replay
This is an example of how I start off fairly well with mechanics but by mid-game my decision making and general play starts to become in my eyes pretty shitty.
In this replay (I am Vorust) I did early agress with something way off the tangent that I decided on pretty early. I felt I did pretty well at that but I have the issue of while I agress, I fail in other aspects of my play which lead me to span the game out when with proper play mid-game I would have ended it much earlier.
So, let us turn this into a general improvement discussion. Review and reply I have had about a month-2 off SC2 before this game was played so was a bit rusty, but still!

Try this hellion drop build that I love using. 10 depot 12 rax 13 gas 15 OC 16 depot 19 factory 19 gas When the factory is about half way done, put a tech lab on your rax. When the factory is finished swap your rax and factory so that the factory has the tech lab but DO NOT put any attachments on your rax BEFORE your starport is up. When your factory finishes, Pump out 4 hellions while researching the Igniter upgrade. Also when your factory finishes build your starport and immediately get one medivac. Your fourth hellion and medivac should finish at around the same time. When your fourth hellion and medivac are out, load them up and drop in the zergs main doing damage to his mineral line and zerglings. While harassing, try to avoid creep and load your hellions back into your dropship if they start taking too much damage. WHILE this is all happening, put a reactor on your rax and get another rax and put a tech lab on it. And from then- on pump nothing but marines and siege tanks with a few medivacs and maybe a Thor is he goes muta-ling. Hope this helps!
