I myself do it every game when i start and it actually feels like it smooths out my build order quite well.
Now I see a lot of people spamming apm in the beginning doing *nothing* wouldn't it be better if they had done this instead?
also, my starting strat is to pylon at 8 and send probe to scout, DAE do this?
cause there is only a bit of down time in mining, and i get to chronoboost my 9th and 10th probe and catchup to everyone else building gateway at 12 probe while having the advantage of earlier scout to detect cheese.
This 7% increase was fixed with a patch awhile ago. So doing this now is basically what you said you didn't want to do -"spamming in the beginning doing *nothing*"
Unfortunately....this is outdated, as Blizzard fixed it last patch. The 7% mineral boost no longer works. So you really are still doing nothing at this point =[ sorry!
Yeah unfortunately 'sockfolding' is no longer with us. I know I am in the minority but I actually enjoyed doing it. Don't ask me why. I guess because it gave some meaning to the early game spam. Even if that meaning was pretty negligible (as mentioned above)
unless doing the above slows down your mining, its still a decent way to spam/ warm up fingers.
I prefer hotkeyspamming binding 1. Probe(my first pylon and scout) ; 2. Probe (my 'builder') 3. Nexus.
and SPAM the living crap out of them. 123213123123123123. Add some rallies in and moving and i spike to around 350 ingame apm (which is about 484 real time apm) Pretty much all the warm up i need. Sadly i settle down to around 120-150 game apm XP.
Actually it takes me about 2 games to really get limber.

i feel like pylon at 8 helps me against cheese tho... not agree?
I don't think so. Even super early cheese like a 6 pool wouldn't come out early enough to make a difference between 8 and 9 pylon. 6 pools, even on steppes, don't hit until your gate is down.

yup this is pretty old. But it was pretty viral when it first arose. Everyone was going nuts over it.
It was definitely more than 20 minerals in the first few minutes, when they first discovered this trick i practiced it and started doing it every game because it really enhanced my BO's... but yeah it has been patched now sadly i'm just spamming doing nothing .
